Robert Lindsay: What does the hair on the steak from the Sierra Kills look like?
Even after 3 weeks, the "body recovery" effort that took place in the Sierra Buttes near Gold Lake, CA involving Dr. Jeffrey Meldrum and other Bigfoot researchers still remains a mystery.
In January, Robert Lindsay wrote that several independent sources informed him that Dr. Jeffrey Meldrum decided that the sample he examined from the Sierra Kills site was not from a Bigfoot due to the presence of guard hairs. According to the article, since Meldrum had suggested it was just a piece of a coyote, Lindsay thought there might be a different reason why Meldrum changed his mind.
"I believe that the Bigfoot sample that Meldrum examined is from a Bigfoot, not a coyote," wrote Lindsay.
"A source felt that Meldrum was wrong in characterizing the Bigfoot sample as a piece of coyote. Multiple sources told us that Meldrum bailed out on the sample because it did not fit his Bigfoot as Ape theory that he has invested many long years and so much of his own and other people’s money in."
Meldrum later responded to Lindsay's article and wrote this on Facebook:
"I returned to the lab with a tiny sliver of the salted specimen (1mm x 5mm) with a couple dozen hairs attached. I cannot discuss the details of the analysis of the hair further due to the NDA. I will say that humans are primates. No primates have underhairs. No human populations adapt to elevation by sprouting underhair."
In a new article posted last night, Robert describes the hair on the Bigfoot steak in much greater detail:
First of all, Meldrum is not correct that primates do not have guard hairs. Some monkeys definitely have guard hairs, especially the smaller ones, and many monkeys have underfur. For instance, the Japanese macaque survives in temperatures all the way down to -4 degrees F.
I have spoken at length with someone who has obtained a photo of a piece of the Sierra Kills steak and has studied it deeply.
Here is what he says:
The steak has hair, not fur. The hair is quite long, about 5-6 inches long. It kinky like pubic hair. While there may be some hair underneath, there is mainly just this kinky pubic hair that you can see well.
There are no guard hairs on the sample as you might expect to see on a dog, a fox or a coyote. That is, there is no second row of hairs under the main hairs where you can push under it and see rows and rows of progressively finer hair. In other words, while there may be some underfur, there do not appear to be any guard hairs. Instead of guard hairs, it looks as if there may be some sort of light underfur.
In places, this kinky pubic hair is thick, but in other places it is not. It looks like “dirty hippie hair.” It’s not greasy or shiny, but it does have a tendency to clump.
It does not resemble coyote hair in any way, shape or form. In fact, the source said that the notion that it is coyote hair is so ridiculous that he can’t believe Meldrum made that comment. The source said that while Meldrum may know anatomy and locomotion, he doesn’t know animal hair very well.
Why can’t it be coyote hair? First of all, the hair is way too long for a coyote. Nevertheless, there are some coyotes that have hair this long. But even in those cases, the consistency and shape of the hair is so different from the hair from the steak that it is “laughable,” in the source’s words.
In color, the sample does not even resemble a pale yote or coyote as many are saying. Instead, it resembles bear hair, specifically hair from the belly of a bear, more than anything else. On the other hand, this is not bear hair. Bears don’t have hair that looks like this.

With out the source there iisnt a story here.
ReplyDeleteI thought maybe the story is the repeated claims of "shockwaves" through the BF community soon (see original article blog from various people that seem connected (I know, who is that, who knows? :)) that today I wonder just what would shock me?
DeleteI see the hundreds of pages on the topic on BFF (80,000 views on Ketchum thread - how many unique visitors to that? or the Sierra thread? What would shock you?
The name of the source if it has one!
Deletelol nice catch!
DeleteI just read that Lindsey has identified his source as a first grader he's been courting at the neighborhood school.
DeleteBlah blah blah blah. Please stop giving this idiot space on your blog, it is seriously giving me second thoughts about continuing to visit the site if I have to deal with his BS every time I log on..
ReplyDeleteThat's what i say.
DeleteSadly the forum needs stories to keep people coming back. So why not the best...BF soap opra/Jerry Springer. Anyone for a steak on a hook?
ReplyDelete"Sadly the forum needs stories to keep people coming back. So why not the best...BF soap opra/Jerry Springer. Anyone for a steak on a hook?"
DeleteWell, if this is what it's degraded to, then perhaps there are other better sites that don't give airtime to idiots like Robert Lindsay, questionable geneticists who are probably in it for the publicity and money (Melba, anyone?) and Todd Standing. I didn't come here for Jerry Springer, nor did I come here to read more of the same old soap opera melodramatics that plague the sasquatch "research" community.
If you want to keep people coming back and avoid all this nonsense, then perhaps it should be a proper discussion forum and not just blog posts with a few comments on it.
I cannot think of any scenario here that could just credit doctor meldrun. the only possibility here is that we were talking about 2 different samples. why would people not believe the opinion of an eminent scientist?
ReplyDeletesean knows that his readers lives are meijer mediocrity. you people will not go to a serious research site. that is why he gives you gossip. its it's the maturity level of his readers that drives the content.
ReplyDeleteNo it's the maturity level of the hoaxers who have a sighting in there back yard, up the hill or a Bigfoot buster blog who drive at Least 75% of the content.
DeleteTim, you're assuming a lot about people you've never met. How do you know this isn't one of many sites people visit? As for Lindsay, I wouldn't be surprised if he's involved with Ketchum as some means if keeping this study in the news. Let's save it, it's dragging on.
DeleteShaun UK
TIM, how do you know what my maturity level is? Or what other BF related sites I visit? Your a grown ass man going around judging people and creating hoaxes, and you want to talk about maturity! Reality check time.
DeleteBigfoots Broski
The diversity of this blog's entries; the good, bad and ugly, is what keeps me coming back (as well as the comments of its readers.)
DeleteI wish I could post something funnier, but Tim Fasano's avatar is a hard act to follow.
"meijer mediocrity?"
DeleteTim is just mad that Lindsay is being published here. He thinks it should be his job to provide us with fake news. John
Delete@John LOL that's funn!
DeleteLittle timmy will call him his friend if they have one 15 minute phone conversation..
DeleteTim, go away. Your credibilty has fallen to a level lower than this blog to be sure. Go start another blog where you can badmouth your so called pals and others who you are jealous of.
DeleteCan you not see why you are hard pressed to get 50 views on your utube vids these days? You are coming across as just a bitter jealous man and thats not what got you support at the start.
Stop worrying about what others do and do something yourself besides hinting sasquatches made swings in the forest....
Who should I believe, an accomplished scientist at a major university or an unidentified source ?
ReplyDelete"Why can’t it be coyote hair? First of all, the hair is way too long for a coyote. Nevertheless, there are some coyotes that have hair this long."
ReplyDeleteUmmmmmmm so what your saying is it could be coyote hair. Funny it can't be because its to long but wait coyotes do have hair this long so it can be!
His posts keep getting worse!
Bigfoots Broski
No doubt, the man contradicts himself constantly. It is hard to keep up with your own lies when you tell so many. Anyone actually read Lindsay's non Bigfoot related news he has on his blog lately. Timeline goes like this; Erickson put up the warning to Lindsay. Lindsay writes one winy article about it. Then this is followed by silence for a week when it comes to the Bigfoot topic. During this week the stories written on his blog are some of the most disgustingly racist things I have ever read. For a real laugh you can check out the comments section on these article. Anyone who disagrees with him is instantly banned. This guy will always be the same. Once he thinks the smoke has cleared he sticks his head out of his little hole and gives us two stories which are just reitterating the same exact stories that he has already reported without sources. All I can say is wow, I would love to hear what a shrink would have to say about this guy. John
DeleteGreat Post!
DeleteIf you look at his reply comments some are so contrived you can tell he is writing his own conversation. It's sad and sick at the same time.
Thx Ed, I have noticed the posts to his blog that don't get banned seem to write exactly like Robert Lindsay. Hmmm. John
DeleteI want to be gettin' all up in your face and Scientific:
ReplyDeleteCould Bigfoots have guard hairs as well as cover hair because they live very comfortably without clothes or fire in sub-zero temperatures?
Well, if the main nuclear DNA ancestry is various genus/species of Abominable Snowmen/Yeti - among the closest more or less bipeds to the (former) Bering Land Bridge into NA... that would be an expected all around logical conclusion.
DeleteUgh. Stop pretending to be scientists. It's disgusting and disrespectful.
ReplyDeleteYou must not be aware of what psycholisgists know, that readers import to the author of any piece, the same attributes or suspicions, the author describes as belonging to others.
DeleteOk "Dr."Ranes!...Maybe you should get back to blogging about how to thwart a collie attack!(really interesting stuff)...."Disgusting and disrespectful" is a pretty good description of your presence on this site!..Take a hike creep!
DeleteDear Anonymous,
DeleteI know a good surgeon who can help you with your infantile genitalia. You don't have to go through life being ashamed.
Thank you for reading my blog.
Ok, I really thought you might have had something interesting to say on this blog Dr. Ranes. We do need a scientific presence here, we all know this. But you don't apply science in a single statement you have made. The only thing infantile are your comments. Why comment on something you obviously don't care about? Doesn't this just make you a Troll? Well, I hope you choke on your microscope, John
DeleteWait a minute. How does he know what your balls look like?
DeleteAhh yes! The classic Jr. High rebuttal!!....Come on Ranes, you're better than that?!
DeleteAdmittedly an off night.
Delete@Apeman: What would shock me? The only think that would get to that very of emotion for me, would be the revelation of a LIVE squatch in custody somewhere. That would trigger shock.
ReplyDeleteThat would send shock waves through many, myself included.
Delete!
It's so laughable! What Lindsay has printed about the hair is all based off someone analyzing a photograph! What a joke!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was a Meldrum conspiracy
ReplyDeleteMaybe not.
DeleteMost of my stuff will be proven correct in the end. I am quite confident of that. There are already many, many people who say the Sierra Kills story is true, and I broke that story.
ReplyDeleteI certainly don't imposter other commenters on my blog. There are many people who comment there in addition to me.
There are clear Comments Rules on the site. You can disagree with me but don't attack me and no ad hominem. Most of the commenters are fine with those rules. People who were banned have a right to appeal bans, and so far all appeals have been granted. However, repeat violators get permabanned. One thing people have to watch for is "hostile tone." Comments may not have a hostile tone towards me or my co-author.
BTW, my co-author is a staunchly anti-racist Black woman. I haven't asked her lately, but in general she does not think I run a racist website. She does keep me in line so to speak so I won't get too out of hand. In fact, the ideology I promote has as one of its 4 pillars anti-racism.
However, I am not PC, that's for sure! Please don't mistake lack of PC for racism. It's an old argument.
I just looked over the articles that were posted in the past week on John's suggestion that many of them were full of virulent racism. I honestly didn't see any real racism going there, but maybe I'm blind.
Once again, thx for playing everyone.
Take another look Robby, you're a racist. Sticking with my statement. John
Delete@John
DeleteI have to admit that's piss poor damage control on RL 's part it makes the case against him even stronger, by his own hand.
I got six more people reporting to the anti hate orgs he is going to be a star at one of them.
John, you missed the part where he's a pathetic excuse for a human being, and a complete dick.
DeleteCan you tell me the names of the anti-hate groups, please? This is an honor. I am so happy that you guys are doing this. Please get as many people as you can to report me.
DeleteIs that a recent picture on your profile Robert? Or, is it one from the 80s'? You look as pathetic as the shit you right.
ReplyDeleteShaun, UK
I don't know if he is a racist but he sure has some weird writings. Articles about pedophiles, HIV transmission methods, race relations, and bigfoot stories to name a few.
ReplyDeleteHe is a disgusting racist we as the BF community should not allow such behavor in the community, or give them a platform to spew it from to existace.
DeleteThe stuff about child abuse almost seems like he's trying to justify it. Disgusting.
ReplyDeleteI've defended Shawn for publishing all Bigfoot news before, even applauded him for it. But it's wrong to give this horrible man another platform.
Maybe time to stop visiting this site.
