Ketchum Report Press Embargo Gets Lifted February 16? [Rumor]

Today's Bigfoot News published by Robert Lindsay says that rumors are flying about the "press embargo" possibly getting lifted from Dr. Melba Ketchum's Bigfoot DNA paper tomorrow.

We want to caution that this is just a rumor and we're just throwing this out there due to the recent buzz we've been hearing on Bigfoot Forums and Facebook earlier:

Shocking news! Will the Dr. Melba Ketchum DNA report be released tomorrow, Thursday, February 16? The Bigfoot world is alive with excitement tonight as rumors swirl around that the Ketchum paper will be published tomorrow.

On Bigfoot Forums, someone said that the embargo on the paper will be lifted tomorrow. Another person said they heard that the paper will be published on a Thursday. The two remaining Thursdays in the month are February 16 and February 23. However, our source continues to insist that the paper will be published around the end of the month. The ultimate source of that statement is a very convincing person.

If the paper is due to be published at the end of the month, it can’t be published on February 16, unless Ketchum is playing games, which is possible.

What is the source for the rumor that the paper is coming out February 16? Two days ago, one of our sources found a tweet from a geneticist or someone who works in genetics – Daniel MacArthur @dgmacarthur. He specializes in human variants and population genetics, which isn’t exactly what we are looking at here, or is it? He tweeted this on Monday:

Secretly enjoying the fact that my science journo friends all know my big news for next week, but can’t tell anyone. Thanks, embargo man!

Then he posted in response to his own tweet:

I’m sufficiently paranoid about journal embargoes that even my last tweet gave me chills. So you’ll just have to wait…

Why would he say “next week” for a paper that was due out the coming week, possibly on a Thursday? If you are speaking on February 13 about next week, you are talking about Feb. 20-24. This week would be Feb. 13-17. That’s the part that doesn’t make sense.

Looking at his recent publications, we find this:

Gravel S, Henn BM, Gutenkunst RN, Indap AR, Marth GT, Clark AG, Yu F, Gibbs RA; 1000 Genomes Project*, Bustamante CD. (2011) Demographic history and rare allele sharing among human populations. Proc Natl Acad Sci USA. 108(29):11983-11988.

I am not sure if that is up our alley or not?

  2. Just for the record, I just spoke to my source and they were told at the end of January that the paper would be coming out at the end of February. So I don't think it will be coming out tomorrow, though that sure would be nice all right.

    1. Lol, here is an article verified by my sources, but don't get too excited because I don't really have any sources. Maybe, but closer to 100%, it will come out at the end of the month. Maybe.
This junk is so laughable Robert. John

It's your Mother. It's time to turn the computer off and make me some tea. You and your bigfoot friends can play later.

  4. Say what you want about Lindsay, but it looks like this is coming SOON. I can't wait. Hate to sound like a geek, but I've been waiting for this since I was a five year old reading Daniel Cohen's books about this stuff. I made friends with Ketchum on FB and she assured me this stuff was REAL. I will take her at her word.

    1. I'm sure there is Something to it man, but I'm also sure Lindsay just looked at ketchums Facebook too. He acts like he's some kind of investigative reporter when he is just trolling all day. That's why people are poking fun.

  5. Lindsey...your mom called...she said you didnt pick up your toys this morning and you forgot to flush the toilet again. She wanted to know if you wanted her to pack your lunch for you again like she did yesterday? Also she thinks its cute when you wear your pink socks and talk to your imaginary friends...she has such high hopes for you!

  6. Now, of course to most of us here it won't be big news to get official scientific confimation these Sasquatch beings exist, the interesting thing is how the public at large will receive it. And the media finally forced to treating it seriously, the damn fools. lol

  7. So, are the Vaporsquatch(TM) numbers going to increase or will all come into focus? I'm going with the first option.

All these "stop the presses!" posts by Lindsey are to peak interest so you'll believe for a little while longer.

Duke Nukem Forever kept getting press releases. It was announced in April 1997 and was finally released in June, 2011. It received poor reviews. What's more, nobody cared. They were sick to death of Duke Nukem Forever. When will true believers get sick of bigfoot?

On Steam, Duke Nukem Forever has a metascore of 54/100. It went on sale for $5.99 a couple of weeks ago. I contemplated buying and then said, "Naw. I bought a lot of GOOD games during the Christmas sale."

Bigfoot is the ultimate Duke Nukem Forever. You'll be waiting forever as little tidbits like this make you excited all over again, then fade like vapor before a bright sun.

BTW, Lindsey, I spelled your name wrong on purpose. :D

    1. At least Duke Nukem was released, even if the reviews were poor. I have a feeling that this is going to be yet another non-event. Certain individuals of questionable repute are milking it for what it's worth (publicity, money through dvd sales, 15 minutes of fame, reality-tv shows, or whatever).

I really *want* to believe, I really do. I want the truth to finally be revealed once and for all. But I'm sick to death of the hoaxers, the blobsquatches, the constant arguing and childish bickering that plague the sasquatch "research" community.

"Bigfoot is the ultimate Duke Nukem Forever. You'll be waiting forever as little tidbits like this make you excited all over again, then fade like vapor before a bright sun."

Agreed 100% at this point. I had hope at one time, but all the rampant idiocy and selfish behavior surrounding bigfoot research have killed what hope I had.

Anybody who says they "have something" better put up or shut up.

  8. I'm not interested in speculation as to when the paper is going to be published - I'm interested in when this "embargo," as everyone seems to be calling it, is going to be lifted so that we can all learn, through the proper channels, when the paper will be published, which journal it will be published in, and when the press conference will be held.

    1. Paper is probably not under embargo yet. Embargo will be lifted maybe day before publication.
