The Erickson Project Website Is Back From The Dead, Now Includes Scary Legal Disclaimer For Bloggers Like Robert Lindsay

After going offline late last year and the recent rumors brewing about Hollywood getting involved, Adrian Erickson's website, SasquatchTheQuest.com just came back online this morning. The homepage now comes with a really frightening legal disclaimer for websites or blogs claiming to have insider information about their project:

All other sites or blogs claiming to have Adrian's permission for posting Erickson Project content, or claiming to have insider information or sources speaking on the Erickson Project are NOT CREDIBLE. We DO NOT authorize the use of content, including text, video clips or still photos. All material represented to be from the Erickson Project is subject to litigation. This includes recent postings of Sasquatch The Quest as an upcoming movie released in theaters this summer, which are ABSOLUTELY FALSE and are subject to litigation.

Here's the full text:

Privately funded since 2005, The Erickson Project has researched sasquatch at various study sites throughout North America. The only goal of Adrian Erickson and his team is to finally have the sasquatch officially recognized as a species or sub-species. This has been a long and frustrating journey.

The completion and any release of a documentary as part of the Erickson Project, has been put on hold for a variety of reasons, most importantly pending the release of sasquatch DNA results by Dr. Melba Ketchum, who is testing DNA samples from different parts of North America, including multiple samples collected by The Erickson Project.

We, the members of the Erickson Project have been continually frustrated by the level of poaching our website content which is posted and misused on a multitude of other websites, or blogs, where 'experts' are interpreting our content by their conjecture, presenting our work as insider information on the Erickson Project, or just trying to bring traffic to their sensationalistic sites claiming to have interviewed Adrian.

THIS SITE IS THE ONLY TRUE SOURCE OF INFORMATION ON THE ERICKSON PROJECT.

TO BE CLEAR: NO OTHER PERSON, NOR OTHER WEBSITE, NOR OTHER PUBLICATION SPEAKS FOR US.

  2. 1.will you be sued for posting this?

  3. Not so scary, overstating the obvious, they are frustrated with their own leaks.
    Subject to what litigation?
Coryright infringment maybe, for what damges?
How does one prevent others from
reporting about their often public activites, claimed sources or not? I thought our Bill of Rights allowed us that freedom?
This disclaimer reminds me of more Bigfootery.
It seems entirely unprofessional and written by someone other than an attorney.
It also says NO documentary until after release of Dr. Ketchum's paper.
And, LOL, does it also say DON"T TELL on any other webiste, only we can tell here?
Maybe just me, but it is a unique disclaimer, eh?
I imagine Lindsay is well aware of his legal rights regarding "journalism" as he cites to his education often.
Perhaps this is really written for the other 300 individual Bigfoot as well.
Boy, they better make a pot of money on that film to follow up on that unfriendly stance with thier fans and viral marketers.

  6. matt Moneymaker filed suit against Mraig Woolheater back around 2005 or so over the posting of some footage referred to as the "Kentucky Project." Moneymaker didn't own the film at the time, he sold it to Erickson for $25,000. While it was circualting on the BFRO email distribution list prior to sale, apparently under the direction of MM, it got picked up by that blog and published b/c there was no accompanying NDA. Erickson intervened or something and Woolheater voluntarily pulled it down. Many saw it, and apparently it can still be found. It may be the "pancake video" that is referred to and the glass on the plate bait, or the same location if not same incident. The version on the net may not be the original quality. The history of the Ep project starts before Erickson enters, it is long and complicated with many central and incidental knowers. A great deal of deeper information than Lindsay reports is out there about that history and as yet un-rediscovered, prudently perhaps as we wait and see what the reputed "better" footage is. EP will have a battle to contain the many opinions about his work.

when my cousins get ahold a one of them agents they throw them what they call a blanket party and that aint nothing you want to be invited to unless you like getting beat with a pillow sack full of doornobs.

i don't mean to be so conversational but what i'm getting at is them erikson boys seem about as trustworthy as them govement agents.

  12. I saw bigfoot in New Hampshire in November 2006. In was living in the US at the time (I'm from the UK). I've never reported it to anyone, there was one other witness. So, I know Bigfoot are real.

If I hadn't seen Bigfoot, and came across the likes of Erickson, BFRO, Standing, Ketchum etc I'd think the whole thing was a money making scam.

I understand some of them have financial stakes in this, and have used their own money. That's fine. But some of them, I think they're happier miling the cash of those looking for the legend, than they are from science.

  13. @Shawn, I used to think that, and after this round I know that - it is a money train, maybe Dr. Ketchum can derail it!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ketchum's on the same train folks

    ReplyDelete
  15. How will they hold the original local contactees, that called the BFRO originally, quiet? Some of them are reported to be unhappy, some of them claim to have been destroyed by the friendly bigfoot investigators and their presense in their community, some are just nosy neighbors with an opinion. A sack of doornobs sounds like a gentle warning, subject to litigation.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Can't wait to see Lindsay's response to this...

On a side issue - do you think he makes up responses to his blogs? I get the impression he's nuts enough to do this.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes I believe he does some of those responses and even responses to responses seem contrived. Nutjob for sure

  17. Boise,
Sounds like your cousins need to learn to hide their stills. If they are perfectly legal, then the Government won't destroy them. If I had an illegal still, and was interested in keeping it, I'd hide it.
If you wanna do illegal things, you've gotta keep it on the down low. Quit blaming the government.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Maybe why so much secrecy around the Sierra Kills DNA. No doubt shooting that Sasquatch was llegal. All of these Prize Hunters tell us to believe only them. I reckon that's what I'll do.

  20. I am trying to think of one thing Lindsay reported here that could get him successfully sued. If it is true, they can't win. If it is false it doesn't mean it is libel or even defamation. I am totally confused why this blogger would get so much attention, especially if he is just an idiot. No one pays attention to most Bigfoot bloggers. Why him? Maybe what he is writing has uncomfortable truths not yet packaged in silk, but put out like a sow's ear.
The copyright infringment occurs all through the internet and any blogger is at risk for just about anything they post not original or with a release. Go litigate that.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh no, Lindsay again! He is a bad boy, isn`t he?! Here is what exactly Lindsay wrote on the EP documentation media release in his latest "BF news", January 30th:

"Whether he (Erickson) is going the TV route to say National Geographic or via a film release, I have no idea"

  26. It's always nice to get a lot of publicity. I thought I had no credibility. Turns out I have so much credibility that multimillionaires and scientists are frantically trying to shut me down and shut me up.

I know where this all coming from and I think I know what this is all about, but I don't think I will be writing about it. All those messages are the doing of someone else and not Erickson, I am quite certain of that. Someone who hates me more than they hate snakes.

We know libel law very well, and we also know copyright law. I have any EP stuff, they can just send me a takedown order and I will remove it. We can paraphrase any of the material on their website that we want to and report on it.

The EP is really only three people and we have never communicated one single word to any of them. All our sources are outside the EP speculating on what is going on with them. The possible 4th person is Ketchum, and we have had almost no communication with her. We've never interviewed Adrian and we've never spoken on behalf of the EP. This is all just empty threats and bluster, that's all it is.

We will continue to report on the EP, but there is not much to report on them, as it's all pretty much locked down and hush hush. Any EP info at all that I get is generally off the record and can't be printed.

I never said the movie would be released in the summer. I said that Hollywood is working on it right now, and I think they are. When will the movie be released? "Soon." That's all we were told.

This is all about money, that's all it is. These people are on the verge of the story of the new millennium, hence all the secrecy, threats, lawsuit threats, etc.

  32. There was no Meldrum debacle. Meldrum's lying in his rejoinder for the most part. The post in question on my site is accurate as it now stands. My post humiliated and embarrassed Meldrum, because I called him out and shone the light on his behavior at the Kills, first spending 2 hours saying how the steak was the real deal, then going back to his lab and saying it was a coyote.

Meldrum is just now figuring out that these things are not apes, but they are hominins. He's trying to figure out how to salvage 20 years worth of books and movies. He doesn't know what to do, I think he's going to ride the Ape line out for all it's worth as long as he can.

Meldrum is totally stressing out these days because he thinks people will think he's a loser and that his life's worth went up in flames.

So of course he's lashing out. That's all it is. That's all that's going on here folks. The truth hurts, as they say.

As far as the latest nonsense, it looks like someone is trying to shut me down, and it ain't Adrian. So we know who that is.

I'm obviously pretty damned important if all these big hotshots are ordering me to STFU or else. This is great stuff. I'm in the center of a storm.

If I was an inconsequential nobody, none of these hotshots would be screaming and yelling about me.

We took a trek in the woods for a few hours when we stopped at the basin. The Bigfoot was stalking th river as if it was tracking fish. It took off as soon as it saw us. No doubt in our minds what we saw. I have been totally in awe ever since. I really hope no evidence is ever found and they get left alone to live naturally.

One day we wake up and there it is, all shiny and new.
    A paper and a movie.
Everyone is smiling and congratulating themselves.
Press interviews take place and everyone is smartly dressed and looking smart.
Talking about how they worked together to bring this out, a real first, a real demonstration of cooperation and altruism. How their efforts stand heads above the rest.
The press has one week to research the story and do their homework before it all hits the stands, or fan.
And yesterdays news is fish wrap, so it all happens on the big day.
Of course they want nothing on the net in advance, it can make those initital Press Conference REAL.

  44. Robert Lindsay has become a leading name in the Bigfoot community. The number one reason involves Shawn's constant pandering on the website and the fact he regards Lindsey like royalty.

The second reason is the hatred he invokes from certain very famous Bigfoot hunters.

Lindsey has become a character who is more entertaining than his counter parts.

I hope he keeps the news coming. Alot has happened in Kentucky and hopefully he will break the news regarding Bigfoot having a writing system.

  45. To me it looks like the big names are joining forces to discredit Robert Lindsay. There have been too many stories this past week for it to be a coincidence.
The old saying about people protesting the loudest sticks in my mind, and usually the simplest answer is likely the correct one.
I read both sides of the debate and take in the information, nothing more, nothing less.
IF RL is completely unreliable, why would so many big shots go out of their way to make noise?
Why not just let it die?

  54. In my HO, Jeff Meldrum is a stand up guy. Regardless of what his theories of sasquatch are,(ape, not ape?) he has always been open minded and examined the evidence in an expert, professional way. I will not change my opinion of Dr. Meldrum regardless of the outcome of DNA test.

As far as this Roberty Lindsay guy, I have no opinion on him either way. (I know nothing about him rather than what he posts here.) It does seem that much of his reporting ends up being true, mostly true, or yet to be determined. (DNA results, Sierra kills, etc.) It seems that he will report a rumor and it later becomes fact, or it is never really proven inaccurate in its entirety. Just sayin.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Quick straw poll. Does anyone care if Sasquatch is classified as Ape or Hominid?

Surely all that matters to the Bigfoot comunity is verification the species exsists?

    Shaun, UK

    ReplyDelete
  56. Shawn I care very much, because of the legal rights that might ensue. Do we harvest Sas for scitnific study? We do "lower" primates, and used to with even modern humans! We are not to be trusted are we?

It matters to many, way beyond the actual true scientific called for classigficiation (if we followed that then Chimps would be in the Homo genus! - see Goodall 1998) and it Freaks me out they care so much!

I think the thing missing here and is key to the debate is how the methodology of study varies btween those who see Sasquatch as an ape vs those who see it more human.

From "baggin" one as you see some brag, to making a treaty with them as you have aslo seen speculated! Somewhere in there is Sasquatch.

    ReplyDelete
  57. oh p.s. what matters to me the most?
that finding bigfoot type activities, veven tha amateur habituators, are regulated somehow.

I also wish the communicty would self regulate throu a self created "Journal" as reviewed by "peers" (whoever that is in Bigfootness) as a way to gain credibility in a positive manner, rather than continue to harrass each other to diminsh work that might obscure their own?
    LOl
Shawn have you had it yet?
I am signing out, I hope, till the experts check in...and that will trickle out.
If I conclude I really feel this way then it is my responsibility to also end my interest. That is tougher actually than it sounds...quite a rut Bigfootery!

  59. I personally don't care what they're classified as. I don't even want verification they exsist.

I want them to be left alone. Being lucky enough to see one made me extremely grateful. I'm not religious, but I thanked the stars for letting me be privelidged enough to encounter bigfoot. I also became instantly protective over them.

We should leave them alone. There was a first nation woman on finding bigfoot S1 that said, 'if you see one, say a prayer and move on' - she was dead on the money.

We're sharing this planet, not it's masters.

I could claim Copyright at any time now:

I choose not to (ATT), but the future may be different.
