New January Press Release Suggests That "Finding Bigfoot" Helped Push Animal Planet Network To Best Start In Nearly A Decade

To give someone props, means to say congratulations for someone's accomplishment. It does not mean to give someone an object.

In Finding Bigfoot's case, we give Matt, Bobo, Cliff, and Ranae mad props for helping push Bigfoot from legend and myth into reality. Reality TV that is.

According to the January numbers from released by Animal Planet via The Futton Critic: Animal Planet stampeded out of the gate this new year with its highest monthly prime performance in over five years, delivering 694K P2+ viewers, and its best January Prime performance in nine years.

This past Sunday's FINDING BIGFOOT premiere of the series ranks as the most-watched ever, with 1.614M P2+ viewers. In January, FINDING BIGFOOT helped Animal Planet rank among the Top 5 ad-supported cable networks on Sunday in the 10 PM hour based on M25-54 delivery (excluding sports, tied with TNT). Its second season continues to outpace season one across several key demos: P25-54 +13% (691K vs. 612K), M25-54 +3% (394K vs. 382K), W25-54 +30% (297K vs. 229K), P18-49 +24% (687K vs. 554K), and P2+ +15% (1.3M vs. 1.2M). FINDING BIGFOOT ranks among Animal Planet's top three performing series of all time among P25-54.

The report also said that hit shows like Finding Bigfoot and My Cat From Hell gave the show, Surprisingly Human, its best ever monthly performance in network history with Men 25-54 in both Prime (166K) and Total Day (106K), up 36% and 44% respectively versus last year.

"We came out of the gate on New Year's Day with big stories, big characters and a big entertainment slate," noted Marjorie Kaplan, group president of Animal Planet and Science Networks. "With the adventure series FINDING BIGFOOT and heavenly performance of MY CAT FROM HELL we're expecting our strong start to 2012 to continue."

  1. Well earned. I waited the past 7 or 8 years wondering if someone would do for BF hunting what Ghost Hunters did for paranormal investigation. I knew that taking people into dark woods and trying to make contact with this elusive creature would be a little like watching a sports show and a little bit like Monsterquest and a lot like Blair Witch for the creep factor. Very well done.

  2. I do like the show, but the content could use some work.
I'm noticing that at town hall meetings, more and more people claim to have had a Bigfoot experience.
I can be cynical and I know it,but I'm wondering how much credence town hall meetings carry now.
I just hope they don't over sensationalise the show in to the ground.
If that happens,I'd love to see Cliff produce his own program and do it his own way.

  3. Actually Cliff and Bobo could have their own show most definitely. :-)

  4. Well Animal Planet I have some news for you. If you get rid of Moneymaker, the show would be 10 times better. He just doesn't have the TV persona. Ranae needs to go also. If a BF jumped up and slapped her in the ass and kissed her on the cheek, she still wouldn't be convinced. Better show equals better ratings. Cliff and Bobo together would be a much better show than what you have right now.

  5. Very well done! ♥♥♥ I might do a drawing to commemorate this!

  6. Ah Yes. When the Spices Girls came
out, you had your favorite Spice Girl.
    (Mine was Scarey Spice)

Now that Finding Bigfoot is out we have our favorite "Squatcher".
    Matt, Bobo, Cliff or Ranae.

    My favorite? Ranae....hubba hubba.

  7. Kick Moneymaker out of the show? He is the driving force of that show. Bobo and Cliff would never be able to do a show without him.

  8. Maybe he's different off camera but Bobo seems half baked. Cliff seems boring and artificial to me. Moneymaker is the one who makes it interesting.

  9. I don't see why it is so popular. They come across as the gang who couldn't shoot straight. They stumble and bumble their way through the woods with all their equipment jumping at every little sound.

Matt Moneymaker is so tweaked he sees or hears Sasquatches in the trees, under rocks, floating in the air and crawling on the ground.

All the stuff they investigate is ancient. Sellouts.
