Did you know that Bigfoots can swim?

Yeah, we didn't know this either, so don't feel too bad..

When Finding Bigfoot executive producer Brad Khulman tweeted this, we had to do some fact checking. The BFRO has numerous reports where people had witnessed Bigfoots swimming. According to one report, a fisherman saw a sasquatch hunting for salmon and it appeared to be swimming frog-like underwater.

The BFRO recommends reading Raincoast Sasquatch by J. Robert Alley. In the book, Alley documents the strong swimming ability of sasquatches.

Here is one incident report that happened in 1910 where a family observed a small group of bigfoots swimming across White Lake in Livingston County, Michigan:

Report # 807 (Class B)
Submitted by witness on Thursday, April 17, 1997.

A family observes a small group of bigfoots swim across White Lake.

YEAR: 1910
SEASON: Unknown
DATE: The incident happened in 1910.
STATE: Michigan
COUNTY: Livingston County
LOCATION DETAILS: White Lake, in Fenton, Michigan, Livingston County. Just west of White Lake Rd. About a half-mile from US 23.

OBSERVED: When my grandmother was 63 years old we were watching a progrom about bigfoot on TV. The report didn't impress her. She had been quiet while watching, then said :

"That's nothing ... One day when I was about seven years old I was standing on the hill leading down to the lake when I saw five of them at the edge of the water. I ran to get my parents. I, my father, my mother and younger brother watched the five of them swim over to the little oak woods on the north side of the lake.

They had no clothes on and they were hairy. There were three large ones and two small ones. We never saw them again."

The children were not allowed off the porch for weeks after that, which she remembers very well as not being pleasant. Her parents were German immigants and her father instructed her mother and the children never to tell anyone because people would begin to ridicule them as crazy immigrants.

This day was the first time she'd told anyone else about it. My granfather looked at her not like she was crazy but like he was kinda hurt that she had never told him in all the years they were married.

In 1992 the population around that area had grown tremendously but the little oak woods was still there intact when I took my children to see it.

  1. I thought everyone knew this.

  2. Remember, Brad Kulhman is talking to general audience who is new to the Bigfoot world. Everything that Matt Moneymaker tells people is something new to the mainstream.

Whether true or not, it's still interesting to know.

  3. Yep, they swim like frogs. And for long distances too. There are many reports from Puget Sound north through coastal British Colombia and Alaska of swimming Bigfoots. Bigfoots inhabit Queen Charlotte Island, and it is 40 miles offshore! The only way they could have got there was to swim for 40 miles! Incredible.

There is also a report of an exhausted Chunuuna found on the Siberian shore of the Bering Straight. It had apparently swum from Alaska to Russia!

  4. I'm rather amazed at that because for their size and muscle content, you'd think swimming would be a very hard thing to keep from drowning. They must have some internal fat that helps keep them afloat a bit to help aid the cause. Anyone who is slender and has tried to float on the water knows how your legs sink fast with no fat on them. Of course, being stronger, he could certainly keep himself from going down, but I'd think without the buoyancy humans have, it'd be a real chore.

  5. Read Raincoast Sasquatch by Rob Alley

  6. Until bigfoot is recognized as a species, saying it can swim is akin to saying unicorns polish their horns on manzanita bushes.

I reminds me of that little blurb on Finding Bigfoot:

Question:"Why do skunk apes smell bad?"

Answer: "Because they often stay in underground gator dens which are full of methane."

My mouth dropped open on that one.

    Weak.

Claiming bigfoots can swim isn't much better.

  7. The best and fastest of swimmers are the ones that have a muscular frame, and very little body fat, and can therefore create more propulsion and less drag. It only makes since that a bigfoot would be a proficient swimmer. Humans are the only mammal that has to learn or be trained to swim. The real question would be weather the bigfoot is a natural swimmer, or does it have to learn. Perhaps in the encounter above the older Bigoots were training the younger ones. White Lake is not a large lake and it would be an easy walk around it to the oak woods. There is so much to learn.

  8. Well, those HUGE feet apparently make great fins. John Green's "Apes Among Us" references several cases as well. It stands to reason that an animal native to the Pacific Northwest would have adapted this ability, like many other animal have had to do.

  9. Reports say that they can swim VERY FAST too. There are even reports of them being spotted swimming by boats up in British Colombia.

We say that BF's can swim because we have many reports of them swimming. These reports indicate that they swim like frogs.

I don't know if BF's are natural swimmers, but they can definitely swim if they have to or want to.

There is a very famous guy in Bigfootery whose name eludes me now whose first BF sighting was of a BF swimming in Puget Sound.
