BFRO investigators spooked by rock-throwing Bigfoots during 2011 North Georgia Expedition [Video]

"These guys were freaking out because it was the first time they've ever seen anything."
- Jason Vogan

During the 2011 North Georgia Expeditions in September, a team of BFRO investigators were approached by two Bigfoots that spooked them so bad, they had to regroup and huddled up.

There were multiple teams during the investigation, and one team witnessed it all. According to expedition organizer Matt Pruitt, "Delta" team had the most sustained and dramatic encounter of the two North Georgia Expeditions; an extended interaction involving rock-throwing, strategic stalking, and a Class A sighting through a night vision monocular.

"The North Georgia Expeditions were conducted in a remote section of the Chattahoochee National Forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The base camp sat directly adjacent to a small tributary of a large river situated in a north-south running river valley, which extends for several miles and connects to many other small valleys. The location was easily one of the more remote and beautiful places in North Georgia," wrote Pruitt.

Watch team "Delta" Jason Vogan's account of what happened on the night of the Bigfoot encounter:

NC-BFRO Investigator and Law Enforcement Officer Jason Vogan describes observing a sasquatch through a night vision monocular during the 2011 BFRO North Georgia Expedition (EXP-2).

  1. That would be pretty intense and scarey. Pity the BFRO doesn't supply all their teams with decent equipment. This would have been pretty cool if it was caught on night vision. Why doesn't every team get good equipment? Surely with the finding bigfoot show being so successful Mr.moneymaker could invest in some proper equipment.

  2. Yeah, it's difficult because if they go into the woods without at least video equipment with night vision, they're screwed. There are event attachable IR lights for camcorders that work a good distance. The story is compelling, but man I think the second he got hit with a rock, they should have been filming and even experimenting with interactions.

  3. I can't figure out why they don't have cameras recording on trips like this. The GoPro is small enough to wear.
I'm guessing the members pay for their own equipment, but if you're going to do Bigfoot research it just makes sense to have recording devices.
I get the impression that the guy is sincere with his experience,it's a shame nothing was recorded though.

  4. It's not like a BFRO investigator is given a "starter kit" by MM. Every piece of night vision or thermal comes a a significant price. Very few of us out there have deep pockets.

You guys with field experience know that the second a light comes on, even IR, it typically ends and interaction immediately. So you try to spread the equipment around evenly.

If you have a small group (10) and want them to have quality, digital audio recorders, thermal recorders, properly clothed, you could easily drop $50,000.

Anybody out there want to fund a few long weekends in Texas, just let us know. There are several areas with potential.

    It's only money, right?

  5. Anonymous-You're saying it costs $5,000 per person to be equipped? That seems a bit high.Used video cameras are easy to find and are relatively inexpensive. A pocket audio recorder is also inexpensive.
Everyone should at least have a video camera.I agree with your thoughts using lights and IR,but some evidence is better than no evidence, even if only sounds are captured.
At the very least, the team can review what was recorded and make changes to strategies.
I'm not bashing the BFRO,or how the investigation was handled.I'm merely offering suggestions.
I get useful advice from quite a few people and I consider it valuable.

  6. BFRO expeditions are known to be aggressive and antagonistic with their "interactions"...forcing them on the individuals. One day, someone will be hurt and I don't necessarily mean an expedition member. They think it's cool to get "in your face" encounters. They felt "played with"??? Good. I hope they get their asses kicked. And, from the looks of this guy and MM himself (even good ole "Bobo"), you gotta be a fathead to get on camera to recount your experience and...ahem...expertise (MM only - this guy seems honest enough). This guy seems to have drunk the BFRO kool-aid.

  7. Its plainly obvious how little people know about BFRO expeditions yet claim absurd things like the above. And the use of gopro cameras ? Really. In the dark ? How uninformed people really are is amazing. There is a reason the bfro has the best success rates for encounters and the above posts illustrate the deep lack of knowledge on the subject and bfro expeditions in general.

  8. Anonymous-you sure assume a lot about other people.
Without any evidence the account by the witness is just a story.
Some sort of camera is better than no camera. If no image is captured at least the sound will.
Instead of having an elitist attitude, you could've at least explained what goes on in a BFRO expedition.
It's no wonder I don't bother with the BFRO site.

  9. If you choose not to bother with the BFRO site then you wont learn much about what goes on at an expedition. Your ignorance is by choice.

  10. The direction this thread is going is EXACTLY why very little gets exchanged. No one is impressed by the interaction experienced by both experienced BFers and newbies on the expo, but ridiculed for the lack of "physical evidence" that came out of the event.

Why should anyone come forward to share their experience than this is the reception they should expect. Is there ANYWHERE where this mentality does not prevail and a free exchange of experiences and techniques occurs?

  11. You can rest assured that something occurred there,
There is other evidence not discussed fully from the other exp.
I speak from direct experience at that site.
Good for Jason and the others on that exp.
I thought the dead tree would fall on me:)

  12. Why isn't the other info discussed? Why so secretive ?

  13. Something is there that walks on two feet, hangs out in the dark and cold and produces more heat compared to the rest of the woods at night.
It is stealthy, silent and you have to listen for it.
The hills are steep and you have to be in shape to ascend and descend them.
It is heavy enough to compress the earth underneath it notably.
    And they are curious.
I am a God fearing Christian who is speaking the truth.
I would not go there by myself at night.

  14. I for one think that Jason Vogan and ? at the very least have a lot of courage to stay not run away, which is what we read about in almost all woods encounters. I felt some anxiety in his voice while retelling the encounter thus making it very believable. 35 minutes of being circled by several creatures and objects being tossed at you
had to be frightening to the core. I would have loved to been in his shoes just to experience this, but maybe I would have run. Good work Mr. Vogen.

  15. The thing I liked about the exp. Is the fact that we all believe with the exception of some skeptics who came with open minds. All professionals of some sort we are It gave me insight and knowledge I cannot get from faceless people on the Internet. All the other stuff I read about concerning the organization and folks involved was not an issue. I looked in peoples eyes and got to know them. It was a good experience. Infrared is expensive and I am not ready to get one yet but they work trust me. I gathered info on such to help in obtaining one in the future possibly. Something is there.

  16. If you're looking for bigfoot, why would you be spooked if you find one? Uh, what did you expect would happen if you actually came across one?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Of course it's yet another unsubstantiated story with zero evidence in which the conclusion is jumped to that it was bigfoot.

People pay to participate in these expeditions. Some skeptics will immediately come to the conclusion that humans were behind the rock throwing to make it feel like the participants are getting their money's worth. It could also have been other people outside this BFRO group who where having a bit of fun with this group of bigfoot enthusiasts.

I believe that bigfoot exists. I wish that someone would shoot one, hit one with a car, capture one, etc. I'm tired of decades of useless evidence and stories like this.

  18. If I thought we were being hoaxed, you can destroy light discipline and light up the area your at with white light. If our signature got closer, I might have shined him up with my surefire. I did not sense a hoax. That hill IS NOT a easy way out.! Plus if you move laterally there are other groups either way.

  19. Some of the comments on this page I am taking VERY personally. Not because I am a member of the BFRO. Its because I am Jason Vogan. As it is stated in the heading, I am a law enforcement officer. What is not stated is that I am a trained Riot Officer. It is my job to wade into riots and pull out aggressors, without the aid of weapons. When others are running away from the threat me and my team are running towards it. I am by no means a coward and the last thing in the world I am is a liar. I respect the field far too much to sully it with another line of BS just to get my name on the internet.
As for why there was no recording equipment on, it was the last thing on my mind. I had been charged by Matt Pruitt, the organizer, and one of my best friends. To lead a group of inexperience people to this sitet. The last thing I needed was to scare someone and have them run into the woods without knowing where they are going. You can all armchair it as much as you want. The experience still gives me nightmares and I am reluctant to go back into the woods. Think what you want of me but do not tall poorly of the BFRO and the work we have done. We are the ones that get out of the house and provide the information for the rest of you to complain about.
To answer another question, I had a sidearm with me at the time but in no way did I feel threatened, played with, yes, threatened, no. The next time I get a chance to speak with the county manager, I will ask for a raise so I can afford to buy better equipment, it's my fault that I have nothing to record with at night. I guess that providing for my family is too high on my list. I should probably get my priorities in line.
I greatly appreciate the people who understand and don't detract from this fortunate experience that I will hold on to for the rest of my life. To those who don't. Try getting away from your CPU and go out in the woods alone at night. Then you can judge me.

    1. Sounds to me like you need to check your "riot trained" ego. Riots obviously have nothing to do with bigfoot as bigfoot very apparently never charged out of the woods to be caught on camera. Talk about your "sidearm" all you want. You very obviously have problems with your manhood for which I truly feel sorry for you.

  21. thousands of people around the world are in love with the story of bigfoot, a large ape-like creature. Fortunately, most people understand this story for what it is: a tall tale, a story of human imagination and creativity, which is always fantastic and wonderful. People throughout human history fantasize about creatures that capture our imagination. Because it is now the year 2013, people understand that these tales are simply just tales because of the accomplished scientists and civilians who study the natural world. Because of the observations of these people, we better understand the realities of the world. Obviously we all love stories but should remember that they are just that: stories that have no fact or evidence to support them. For example, there are several endangered species that have dwindled to an astonishingly low level yet are still supported and documented by scientific evidence. Just remember to use your intelligent human minds to remember that one should not believe anything without sufficient evidence. A creature as large as a bigfoot would most definitely be documented at this point. Forget this "bigfoots must bury each other in the ground" nonsense. There would certainly be some evidence at this point for such a loved and well sought after creature. If bigfoot truly exists, then he is much more intelligent than humans for evading our pursuits for so long and therefore contradicts its supposedly small population. It's always disappointing when adults mislead the general population knowing that they are either truly in the wrong or simply delusional. I encourage everyone to always research the facts before becoming consumed in a story. The wonder of human imagination and storytelling is really what people should focus on and should never be taken advantage of.
