Twilight Zone Marathon: What's Your Favorite Episode?

Editor’s Note: This is a post by Bigfoot Evidence contributor Vicki W.

Syfy's annual New Year's marathon of the classic anthology "The Twilight Zone" begins early this morning and will run until early Wednesday, January 2. Okay, so it really doesn't have anything to do with Bigfoot. Still, it's a fun show to reminisce about. Produced and many scripts masterfully penned by creative genius Rod Serling, the show remains unmatched in originality and creativity. It isn't often that a television show can maintain it's first class position through the passing of decades and generations the way Twilight Zone continues to do.

Here's a few of our favorite episodes you may be able to catch in between New Year's parties, champagne toasts and the customary midnight kiss. We narrowed it to our top ten, but it's difficult to rank with so many great episodes to choose from, and a word of caution--the list may contain spoilers.

10. The Monsters Are Due on Maple St.--The one where a group of neighbors become paranoid that one another are responsible for strange happenings and question their planet of origin.

9. Eye of the Beholder-- The one where the woman has her face completely bandaged anxiously awaiting the results of plastic surgery to transform her extreme ugliness.

8. Living Doll -- The one with Telly Savalas and 'Talky Tina', the vengeful doll.

7. The After Hours -- The one where the shopper turns out to be a mannequin.

6. To Serve Man -- The one where aliens land with a very interesting message and a curious book.

5. The Hitchhiker -- The one where the woman keeps seeing a mysterious hitchhiker who terrifies her.

4. The Midnight Sun -- The one about the Earth heating up. Global warming maybe? TZ was truly ahead of it's time.

3. Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up? -- Someone in a diner full of people isn't a native Earthling. But which one?

2. Nightmare at 20,000 Ft. -- The one where William Shatner sees something menacing on the wing of the plane he's aboard.

1. It's a Good Life -- The one where the telepathic little boy/monster wishes people who don't like him into the cornfield.

We know, we know, there are some great ones not mentioned that deserve to be in the top. Here's a few more greats.

Nick of Time (William Shatner and the mystic seer), Night Call (Elderly woman receiving calls from the cemetary), Nothing in the Dark (Robert Redford portraying "Mr. Death"), The Masks (The old man makes his waiting heirs wear hideous Mardi Gras masks), What You Need (Old man gives people what they need for their future), Time Enough At Last (Burgess Meredith can't find enough time to read his beloved books), and Kick the Can (Elderly folks step back into childhood).

Oh, and just for New Years we must mention "Stopover in a Quiet Town" in which a hungover couple awake from partying in a very strange town all alone, except for the distant laughter they hear from a child. Be careful how much you drink, friends, and Happy New Year! Will 2013 finally be the year for Bigfoot?

    1. Don't you wish you lived in a world that could focus on the task at hand? Namely, visiting a site that researched, collected ideas, and overall attempted to be an addition to the quest of getting an answer on the bigfoot/sasquatch question?

This site has tanked in the last few months, just when more and more info has been alluded to.

But by gawd, look at the people riding manatees in the twilightzone!!!

First lines of each episode: There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to — The Outer Limits.

  4. To Serve Man-The Simpsons did a Treehouse of Horror special on that one. Look to see if you can recognize one of the Kaminos in To Serve Man, he did play a Bigfoot type of monster on a great 70's monster/sci fi show.

But Teeseeatcoe IS! The information IS trying to come together but too many Ohms are in the circuit, and that LIGHT at the end just doesn't have the potential to make the luminaire do it's basic function.

  18. I like the one where the family goes to visit their dying grandfather in new Orleans. It's martigras and he wants them to wear some ugly masks until midnight. He wears the death mask. At midnight he dies and they take off their masks and their faces are molded into what their masks represented. Greed, ugliness and sloth. Too bad that can't happen in real life.
