Co-operation Will Most Likely End In Success

Editor’s Note: Jonathan Poulsen has been researching the Sasquatch since 2008, but really involved himself heavily in 2011. He has since devoted his life to the near impossible challenge of verifying the existence of the Sasquatch. Shawn refers to him as the Bigfoot encyclopedia.

A few months ago, I ordered the book ‘On the Track of the Sasquatch’ off Amazon.com. When it arrived, I ripped open the packaging and flipped through the badly damaged copy of the book (from 1975). Whilst doing so, a page from an old newspaper fell out. One of the columns on the August 25th, 1979 edition of the Eugene Register-Guard read:

Plagiarism Claimed

PORTLAND (UPI) – Bigfoot, that large, ape-like beast that some believe roams in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest, is the subject of a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court. Canadian author Rene Dahinden has filed a complaint accusing an Oregon writer, Peter Byrne, of plagiarism. In his suit, Dahinden charged that Byrne, author of “The Search for Bigfoot: Monster, Myth or Man?” “substantially and blatantly” copied from his book, “Sasquatch”, without giving Dahinden credit”.

Unfortunately, this kind of crude attitude is still going on today. Doesn’t this 1979 lawsuit remind anyone of the John Johnsen/Matt Moneymaker/Cryptomundo suit of 2012? We all need to listen to the opinions, ideas, methods, and desires of our fellow Sasquatch investigators. All organizations and/or individuals need to co-operate and work together, it’ll be a lot easier to solve this mystery if we do.

P.S. That means having an open-mind as to what this creature’s identity may be. Don’t be biased!

  1. Nope it kind of reminds me of the Esau article that had already been covered by Leroy Blevins.J.D.

    1. Dont worry Ketchum wil pull the Squatchers together when her paper "proves" Bigfoot

  2. Blevins was not the first to mention "Esau," by any means.

Plagiarism is plagiarism, but these guys all printed up the same old stories, much like the blogs of today do. The fact is, Dahinden most likely copied a lot of his stuff from the earlier books by John Green.

    And so it goes...

  3. Priceless find, really funny in a creepy way. What happened with the lawsuit?

    1. To be honest, I don't know. But, later on, I hear Dahinden sucker punched Byrne in a parking lot (or something to that effect).

  5. This is a nice idea and all but that would mean that these separate Bigfoot factions would have to stop looking at the big guy as a business, and see them as a species worth being truly studied. Where's the science? 99% of what these guys do seems completely unscientific. No time for science when you are making a T.V. Show or releasing your new book and worrying about who's going to copy you or rip you off. Just my opinion, John

    1. That would be nice, but the fact maybe that for some of these people it is a business and they try to discredit their rivals for the benefit of their own enterprises.

  6. Most people have made up their minds what they are searching for and ignoring any data that falls outside those parameters. Is it any wonder we don't have proof yet?
