The Beast of Seven Chutes: What the Heck Is It?

Editor’s Note: This is a post by Bigfoot Evidence contributor Vicki W.

In June of 1995 a man sightseeing in Quebec snapped 76 photos and made 4 videos of an area known as Parc des 7 Chutes, or Seven Chutes Park, near Saint-Georges de Beauce, Quebec. As he browsed through the pictures, something odd caught his eye in photo number 32. There appeared to be something strange standing amid the trees. When the photo was enlarged, a tall brown figure with a baboon like snout becomes clearer. Not only that, it seems to be clutching a white dog, and appears to be staring towards the photographer. He had not seen it when he took the pictures.

The photographer (who wishes to remain anonymous) went back to the area and had photos taken with a man standing in the same spot for comparison, as well as to see if there could be another explanation. Some skeptics have suggested it is a rock formation but the subsequent area photos do not support this theory. Others claim it's simply a case of pareidolia, the phenomena of seeing faces or other distinct images in objects such as clouds, tree formations, or even a cinnamon roll. Remember the famous cinnamon roll that had the uncanny likeness to Mother Theresa of Calcutta? There seems to be more than that to this particular image, however.

So what is the thing, and why is it holding a small dog? If it's a bigfoot, it doesn't match up with most descriptions by bigfoot eyewitnesses. This animal has a snout like a dog or wolf, leading some to call it a "dogman" or a werewolf. There have been reports of an animal meeting this description in a few other places. One of the most well known are the sightings of the "Michigan dogman", and another string of sightings in Wisconsin of a similar animal.

Here are some examples of 'dogmen' or werewolf type creatures described by witnesses:

MANWOLF SPOTTED ON BRAY ROAD IN 2004

Witness Description: It was dark in color but tipped silvery gray...its eyes were glittery and dark, they had no sclera or whites like a human eye in a mask would have. It's head was big, almost too big for its body. It had an elongated snout, but pointy, not rounded like a Lab's. "It stood there, and then it hunched over into an aggressive stance. It's arms were bent at the elbow and forward. I couldn't see the hands. Its ears were pointed, shaped like a German shepherd's, but laid back. It was looking right at me. I felt it was aggressive and would defend itself viciously.

MICHIGAN DOGMAN SIGHTING BY 4 PEOPLE

Witness Description: Yellow eyes, kind of slanted in a way. It didn¹t have a long snout like a dog, but the snout was narrow. It wasn¹t human and wasn¹t dog. It wasn¹t flatfaced like human, all I saw was hair underneath what I presumed to be a jaw. Like a cape or mane. From what I saw, it was kind of slender in stature, not beefy, I would guess 210-220 pounds. The head reminded me of a canine shape, the kind of triangle-looking head. It was looking completely straight on at us. It could have had ears but was too dark to see them.

WISCONSIN WOLFMAN

Remember the Wisconsin "bigfoot" that pulled the deer from the back of a pickup? Well Steve Krueger, the guy who reported it says "It wasn't a bigfoot. it's head was more like a wolf!"... read what he says it was below! Witness Description: Steven Krueger the contractor who says a creature pulled a deer out of his pickup describes the creature like this, "It had pointy ears, triangular shaped," he said, "and they looked like big wolf ears standing up on end. That was the main feature that made me realize it was not a bear. It had a longer muzzle than a black bear, and its head was more like a wolf than a bear. It almost looked like a very large black bear standing on its feet, if you took a wolf's head and enlarged it and set it on the bear's body." "I know it wasn't a bigfoot."

Another perplexing case regarding a mysterious beast from history which has sometimes been labeled a werewolf is the 18th century French case known as the "Beast of Gevaudan". Historians continue to scratch their head about exactly what the beast was, but there's no doubt that the ferocious creature was responsible for the grisly killings of over 100 people, some of which it partially devoured. The victims were all women and children, and curiously the beast did not attack livestock such as sheep or cattle. Many victims were tending sheep when the animal viciously attacked. It was thought to be a wolf, and many wolves were killed but the attacks continued.

The few people who managed to escape the animal described it as a wolf like creature, but larger, as large as a horse or a cow. Rumors circulated that the animal must be some type of werewolf. Eventually, the beast was shot by Jean Chastel in 1767 with a silver bullet, or so he claims. (A silver bullet would be unstable as it is too heavy to get the spin necessary to make a bullet fire in an accurate straight line.) Human tissue was found in its stomach, and the killings finally stopped. Despite this, the identity of the beast of Gevaudan was never ascertained. It had differences from a common wolf, and we only know that it was buried in high secrecy somewhere in Versailles. Cryptozoologists speculate that it may have been a hyena (an escaped exotic specimen) or a wolf-dog hybrid. Accusations have also been tossed around that the beast had been a trained animal; trained to attack people by a beast of the human persuasion, perhaps Jean Chastel himself had blood on his hands. Circumstances surrounding his ability to get as close as he did when so many others failed fueled more than a few whispers and raised eyebrows. Still, he was honored as a hero for dispatching the beast and putting an end to its carnage. A large memorial marks his grave site, and the beast remains a mystery today.

Serious comment here, I think some sasquatch look like giant baboon, like this go watch that monsterquest with old man and fat british geek looking at PGF!!!

    3. I was thinking broken tree originally, but that wouldn't really make sense because the tree would also be in the recreation photo. There is additional foliage in the recreation which could be hiding the tree, but the person in the recreation would have seen it there.

    1. Yes way too hasty to call that a snout, and the photographer didn't notice it being there at all so zooming in doesn't really reveal that much. Light also plays many tricks. I think it's just the bare part of the face if it's real at all of course, strange it is nevertheless and there's only two possibilities anyway it's either fake or it's real.

I just got off the phone with Jack Bindernagel and we discussed this photo. I have to say Jack had not seen it before and it made him very upset. I emailed him the link and he just stopped cold when he opened it. The exchange went like this "I will tell you I think Ketchum is full of it" then dead silence- I said Jack, Jack are you ok?. He remained silent and then said "Cuddles" I said "what do you mean Cuddles" and his response was as follows: "Cuddles was the name of our dog, the dog in this picture, that damn Sasquatch kidnapped my dog!!!" "my wife was sick for a month over it and we never knew what became of him".

He then said "I must go call me later- I have to call Justin Smeja, payback is going to be a real bitch, or Sally, whichever term you prefer".

  9. Since we are talking of a Dogman that seems to come from the Manistee National Forest region of Michigan and Monster Quest did a show about this, I heard an interesting story (I think on a Coast to Coast interview of David Paulides book Missing 411, with host George Knapp) about 2 months ago. I think this happened in the late 1800s in the Manistee National Forest region when the area was being logged. A lumberman who lost his wife, would take his then young daughter with him everyday when he cut lumber, and she would play and ride logs downhill when the horse pulled them. She came up missing. The lumberman could not find her. A couple of hunters who were in the area helped search for the girl and finally found here after several days. When asked how she stayed alive she told them the Wolfman took care of her, fed her, and kept her warm at night.

  19. If a snouted animal roams around there, then I vote for it being a baboon escaped or released from captivity.

I believe the 'Beast of Gevaudan' was also thought to be an escaped menagerie or circus animal, most likely a hyena, but possibly a baboon. And the guy who shot it was likely the psychopath who directed the darn animal to attack all along.

    1. Looking closer now I actually see what could be a dog, the tail over the Sasquatch's arm clutcing it and the head sticking out underneath. See the eyes? Just wonder how on earth the Sasquatch caught it, I know they're supposed to be fast but I'd imagine a small dog could easily escape and be fearful of approaching a huge Sasquatch anyway unless the rumored hunting technique of rock throwing was used to stun the prey. It does look real the whole thing, and quite disturbing. The thing looks enormous and the whole nonhuman build looks correct enough, also think the face is realistic. The snout suggestion is wrong though, except on that poor dog of course if that's what it is.

  21. What do you mean a bunny it looks like a pit bull in all honesty look how long it's front leg and there are no bunny ears and when is the last time you saw a wild rabbit white with black spots I know it sounds kinda crazy but look at the facial structure if the white creature it screams dog and if it is a dog and a pit bull then think how big the bf is that's holding it at least 8.5-9 feet tall I also do not see a snout on the face it looks like a baboon... Honestly in order for me it goes 1. Paterson film 2. This picture... Honestly the best still photo I have ever seen and if you disagree with me plz site the picture you think is Bette cuz I must not have seen it...

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't think that it is a baboon. If the animal it is holding is a small dog, rabbit, whatever; The size comparison alone would put this creature well beyond the size paramaters of a baboon. A large baboon is about the size of an average 13-14 year old kid. This thing looks much, much larger. To me, the face looks very similar to a gorilla or one of the creatures depicted on the original 'Planet of the Apes' movies.

Whatever it is, I would love to hear more about the encounter and any past encounters from the area.

I dread having to read through all of the crap posted by the "critics" who will claim this is some guy wearing coveralls holding a trashbag etc. Just to try to find some serioes intel. on the subject.

    2. I agree with you Archer 1. Something about this photo screams very large to me, and whatever it is holding appears to be at least two feet long as it is longer than the length of the creatures finger tips to elbow which on me at 6 foot is 18 inches. 28. I have always liked this pic, except for the 'snout' description. I see a fairly obvious eyes/nose/mouth setup on a flat face. The cone-head is a little outrageous vs other pics out there but that and the wide-open-looking mouth could be sun artifacts at a distance. I like the bunny theory, except if taking the size comparison into account (if reliable), we should also be scouring the woods for a giant species of 100lb rabbit! ...maybe the size comparison is off.

  30. Arla here - What you are seeing is an image that's never been captured. This is an adult male Bigfoot. He is in middle phase of the shapeshifting process. 30 seconds after this picture was taken, he had already completely transformed into a gopher. Many people do not know this, but the gopher is their primary life form. Bigfoot is a secondary life form that gophers created to intimidate humans and scare them from their sacred sanctuaries.

  31. On a forum somewhere in the past this was said to be a fake because one of the better pictures had been magnified and you could see a man's face under the snout of the beast. They thought it was a mountain man with a wolf head and skin wrapped over him.

Don't blast the messenger I'm just saying what was said. I did magnify the screen and thought I could make out the face at one time but just not certain.

It was thought the guy who took the picture had no idea it was fake just the way this mountain man happened to be there at that time.

But if it's real it's pretty scary. I've corresponded with some people before who were investigating the Michigan Dogmen sightings and they told me they felt it had more to do with a local Army base? I can't remember for sure but they inferred that it was possibly experiments going on with animals for the super soldiers. He told me if that was the case he was sure their investigation would be stopped shortly. Never did hear from him again, so I don't know, This was about 6 yrs ago.

  56. the usual red flag present IE 1 picture that is blurry[convient that]
it looks like a tree stump to me. the white bit[ the small doman baby!] is the head of 1 tre the brown mass is the tree stump with leaves overhanging.

its as plausable as anything else.

what are we saying there are breeding populations of 7ft dogman alongside populaions of 8-10ft bigfoot walking about North America with anybody capturing it, finding bones/bodies, decent film, dna etc etc..

this is ridiculas and makes people look folish wrting that this is actualy a werewolf or something. vrazy Americans I can only imagine.
ive seen timbergiant, fasano, rick dyes work . Is this where you place you beliefs on. there is nothing on youtube related to either subject that is emotely interesting or PROOF

is this a secret society or something,as i have no idea why adult men wuld belief such ridiculas things?!

  57. why the guy in his worded intro refers to the ' michigan dogman' as some kind of proof is crazy. there is a film on youtube of the guy who hoaxed it,that isnt proof ,that was a well known[and good]hoax! which shows how easyit is for hoaxers to do a few simple costumes, add a good story and credible witnesses and you have a mystery.

wakey wakey people.there are no 20 bogfoot or werewolves out there in north america. seep well you crazy yanks

  58. Hi there! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which
blog platform are you using for this website?

I'm getting tired of Wordpress because I've had
problems with hackers and I'm looking at options for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

  61. I see what looks like a dog like baboon holding not a white dog but a small creature that resembles a baby primate of some kind with a pinkish nose being somewhat cradled rather than held. There are cases of albino primates being born and this looks something like that to me. I wonder if this could be the offspring of this creature.

  62. to all that have seen them they do exist. I have been watching them. most of the description is correct but some is not. i hope to write a book soon and photos. they can move very fast so it is hard to photograph them. wish me luck...

  63. I believe they are real, and I believe this is not a picture of one. There's a photo available for comparison. In the comparison photo, there are leaves on the trees. The leaves hide the rocks/ground being mistaken for the Beast. Here is the original photo with the comparison photo overlay: https://closetlight.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/beast-compare-1.gif This is not proof that the beast doesn't exist. It is only a strong indication that the beast is not in the original photo.

  64. Either this is an escaped baboon from a nearby zoo/circus, or this is a baboon-faced sasquatch. It's reasonable to believe there would be a variety of phenotypic traits with sasquatch populations from different geographical regions, much like any other animal. Nothing in the picture looks "wolf/canine-like" to me at all, so whatever creature this is seems to be of the sasquatch variety rather than a dogman.

    1. Also, I can't make out whatever animal it's holding as it's too blurry, but if it is indeed someone's pet dog, well that's an unfortunate fate. It's clearly intended to be lunch.
