Bigfoot Invades Honobia, Oklahoma! Again!

The days are getting cooler. The kids are back in school. TV shows are premiering. That can only mean one thing. IT's almost time for the Honobia Bigfoot Festival in Honobia, Oklahoma. This is an annual festival (think small town carnival) celebrating the bigfoot history of the small town of Honobia. Pronounced Ho-Nuh-Bee for the out of towners. This year the festival will be featuring none other than the cast of "Killing Bigfoot".

Honobia's Bigfoot festival will be visited by cast members and the producer of the television show, "Killing Bigfoot."

Jim Lansdale and Mike Humphreys, featured Bigfoot hunters, and Peter von Puttkamer, producer-director of "Killing Bigfoot," are scheduled to be at the Honobia conference on Saturday, Oct. 3, said Farlan Huff, conference moderator.

The Honobia Bigfoot Festival and Conference is set Oct. 2 to 4 at the Kiamichi Mountains Christian Mission. It attracts Bigfoot fans from serious scholars to those who enjoy the campfire tales, crafts and food.

"Killing Bigfoot" ran as a one-hour special on the Destination America channel. More episodes are being produced for a series, Huff said.

Von Puttkamer has been an international award-winning producer. With wife Sheera, he produced documentaries for the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, History Channel and the BBC. Lansdale hunted Bigfoot for 20 years and is a co-founders of the "Gulf Coast Bigfoot Research Organization" or GCBRO. "Killing Bigfoot" follows the well-armed GCBRO who hope to kill and bring back a Bigfoot.

Humphrey, Huff said, has a brother whose family and rural home near Honobia were the focus of the "Siege" at Honobia, which was reported in 2000 on the website of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization. It reported the family was harassed for two years by a Bigfoot which was seen, and shot at, when it tried to enter the home.

Entry to the festival is free but there will be a charge for the conference and the children's area.
