Did Reinhold Messner encounter an undiscovered bear or a Yeti?

Explorer and mountaineer Reinhold Messner is famous for making the first solo ascent of Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen. During a hike in 1986 in the Himalayas, Messner had an encounter that he could never forget. He witnessed a "special bear" that sometimes walking on fours and sometimes two legs. The foot prints looked exactly like what early Yeti researchers described. He believes this "special" kind of bear could be what the natives are referring to as the Yeti. Listen to his extraordinary story below:

    1. Two bear samples don't debunk a Yeti.

The prints had a divergent toe, it transitioned bipedal and quadrupedal motion... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... ????

    4. Messer himself says it's a bear and he's even translated the work of German scientists and explorers from the 30s that also support that it's a bear. They also support that Shipley was willing to hoax tracks so his mountaineering could carry on under the guise of Yeti hunting funded by the British newspapers. Hilary who was on the famous expedition with Shipley when the footprint photos were taken is a non-believer and it's thought they were bear tracks which Shipley altered with his gloved fingers.
Many expeditions over the years have been taken to a Yeti cave only to find it's the hiding place of a bear. Last week on Sasquatch Chronicles they interviewed Peter Byrne and he talked about the expedition funded by Tom Slick where he spent 3 entire years looking for the Yeti. In three years they only found a couple of tracks and that was at the very beginning of the expedition. It's a great interview though especially worth it to hear first hand the Jimmy Stuart Yeti story.
It's a bear guys for sure though Psuedo will argue till he's blue in the face that it isn't.
