Special 'Bigfoot Revealed' to Air Sunday, November 17 on National Geographic
The special documentary series featuring Dr. Bryan Sykes that's airing this weekend in the U.K. will be airing here in the U.S. on Nat Geo starting November 17th. How do we know this? This Press Release was just published by Nat Geo earlier today:
National Geographic Channel Presents New Evidence That May Unlock the Centuries-Old Mystery of Bigfoot
Two-Hour Special Premieres Sunday, November 17, at 8 PM ET/PT
(Washington, DC – October 18, 2013) Has a British scientist finally unlocked the mystery of Bigfoot? Yetis –also known as the Abominable Snowman and one of the most elusive Bigfoot legends– have been recorded for centuries in the Himalayas, with local people and even eminent mountaineers claiming to have come face-to-face with the hairy, ape-like creatures. A photograph of a Yeti footprint, taken by British climber Eric Shipton at the base of Everest in 1951, sparked global Yeti mania.
New DNA research collected by Professor Bryan Sykes, a leading British geneticist, reveals a unique genetic link the may answer the centuries-old mystery — what is Bigfoot? The results are featured in a new two-hour special, Bigfoot: Revealed [wt], produced for Channel 4 in the U.K. and premiering in the U.S. Sunday, November 17, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on National Geographic Channel. For more information, visit www.natgeotv.com and follow us on Twitter at @NGC_PR.
Sykes sets off on a global quest to unlock the real story of Bigfoot. Sykes, professor of human genetics at the University of Oxford, collected and tested Yeti hair samples in the western Himalayas to find out what species they came from. After subjecting the hairs to the most sophisticated DNA tests available and comparing the results to other animals’ genomes stored on the GenBank database, he found that he had a 100 percent match with a sample from an ancient polar bear jawbone that dates back at least 40,000 years — a time when the polar bear and closely related brown bear were separating as different species.
“This is an exciting and completely unexpected result that gave us all a surprise,” says Sykes. The Yeti DNA results are part of the most ambitious Bigfoot DNA analysis the world has ever seen, the Oxford Lausanne Collateral Hominid Project, which looks at the genetic relationship between our own species of Homo sapiens and other hominids.
Last year Sykes put out a worldwide call for samples from formally undescribed species, such as the Yeti in the Himalayas, Sasquatch in America’s Pacific Northwest and the Almasty in the mountains and tundra of Russia. All are mysterious creatures that have fascinated cryptozoologists and confounded scientists for decades. The study set out to discover whether Bigfoot is an ancient hominid, a member of the human family like Neanderthals, giant apes or some other species — or whether it is simply a hoax.
It’s a controversial subject, beset with scandals that have destroyed the careers of respected scientists in the past. But Sykes is undeterred. “‘Bigfootologists’ and other enthusiasts seem to think that they’ve been rejected by science,” he says. “Now I think that’s a complete distortion of what science is about. Science doesn’t accept or reject anything, all it does is examine the evidence and that is what I’m doing.”
Sykes has assembled substantial physical evidence and analyzed more than 30 of the most credible samples he has received. The results, including Sasquatch in the U.S. and Almasty in Russia, will be featured in the two-hour special.
Bigfoot: Revealed [wt] is produced for Channel 4 and National Geographic Channels (NGC) by Icon Films. For Icon Films, executive producers are Laura Marshall and Harry Marshall. For NGC, executive producer is Madeleine Carter; vice president, production & development is Kevin Mohs; executive vice president of programming and strategy is Heather Moran; and president is Howard T. Owens.

DeleteNat Geo is nothing but a debunking channel paid for by the US Gov, all their other shows on subjects like Bigfoot and UFOs are made only to explain it all away. One big conspiracy, that's how they run things.

DeleteHey, light up a fat one for me, OK?
DeleteBring one home damn it and end these shenanigans!
DeleteI lived in Or. and the Portland area most of my life. Bet it rains on ya. Lol!
I didn't realize that they had cell phone coverage at 4000 feet, and not particular close to the ranger station up there. If I had to compile a list of squatchy places where "it just doesn't get any better than this", the places that had a limitless number of fist sized throwing rocks, would definitely not be on that list. If you get my drift.
DeleteRaining rocks= not good!
DeleteIt's raining men.
DeleteHairy men.
DeleteWhere's the part about changing our understanding of hymen history?
ReplyDeleteor is that part only being broadcast in Wales on Joe's elite viewing pedestal?
MMG AND JOE FITZ HOW IS SYKES BEAR WORKING OUT FOR YOU?????????
ReplyDeleteThe 'bear' could be very significant.
DeleteI am, however much more interested in the two latter samples that Sykes refers to as 'exciting' and 'completely unexpected'.
Relax fellas....
MMG
Queen Elizabeth's pubic hair perhaps? Hmmm?
DeleteCertainly falls into the 'completely unexpected' category.
DeleteAnything is possible.
Latest news from an excellent source tells me that Sykes study confirms bears don't exist.
MMG
I have now counted 395 sasquatch in the background photograph.
DeleteBUCKLE UP MMG!
DeleteYeah... For an Asian bear sample that debunks Bigfoot... Right?
DeleteHa ha ha!
Don't worry Joe it'll happen one day but maybe not this time, I'm afraid your idol Sykes is part of the cover-up so he won't reveal the reality of Bigfoot unfortunately once you see this is all a big game to these science freaks and their far-out excuses and organized stalling techniques then your eyes will be opened too. It's depressing for sure, but that's how it is when dealing with something authorities want us in the dark on namely Bigfoot's presence and purpose on this planet.

What dreams? It seems footers are the only ones around here with dreams. The rest of us live in the real world.
DeleteStill awake Crampz?

You be careful that the claims you made about me sounding off too soon don't come back and bite your bum off.

DeletePwned like bill munns hard drive containing 10 years of work on the pgf crashing
ReplyDeleteHow can you discount bigfoot, yeti, or sasquatch not existing. Hello look at all the primates, apes, and hominid that walk the earth. It's very possible that sasquatch does indeed exist. They say that still over 50 percent of our usa hasn't been explored. So who knows what might pop up whether it be bigfoots or other new species. Id like to see them discovered.
ReplyDeleteI love your enthusiasm but I doubt your 50 percent figure. Do you have a source?
DeleteEven with lots of unexplored land it means little if Bigfoot's an interdimentional being coming and going at will, as much would indicate is so. Perhaps you understand the need for all the silly authoritative excuses now, there'd be no interest in this myth were this not the case because the ape angle is impossible.
DeleteI am up here now, in the Adirondack Mountains of New York state. We are at an elevation of 4500 feet. This area is 30 miles from any human habitation.
DeleteThis area, is so rugged and remote, if they're were let's say a population of a 25 big foots we wouldn't even know it. Probably they're are around 8-10.
Anyone who thinks there is no forests left to hold a decent amount of them, never leave the city. Enough said, Very busy, Got to go after those animals, that people say don't exist!

DeleteBigfootdom jumps the shark again.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !
After November 17th, I suspect that the paid scoftics, skeptards, Sharon Hill and Karl Rose, will all be cooling their heels in the unemployment lines. They had to see that coming. Perhaps they could diversify to other cryptozoological animals, and be able to put food in their mouths that way.
ReplyDeleteFooled ^
DeleteSpeaking of Sharon Hill, she appears to be insulting the skeptards today and threatens to "not be nice". Apparently, she lumps everyone who posts on BE, in the same category. Which is testimony to her lack of ability to understand advance subject matters such as the paranormal Bigfoot. Incredibly, in the same article, she seems to believe that just going into the woods and sitting down, is going to make someone aware of the Bigfoot phenomenon, but they would only be fooling themselves in the process. sigh! So why should she bother when she can do all the scientific analysis of Bigfoot that she needs to do, from the comfort of her computer room, with her feet all propped up and protected from monsters by her pink bunny slippers. No small wonder that there is a glass ceiling in squatchery. In order to penetrate that glass ceiling, you have to at least be able to understand the subject matter, no matter which sub dimension it happens to be floating in at the time. And then strike up a conversation as if nothing is particularly strange.

DeleteWhat??
DeleteYou do this for fun?
Muir I despair....
MMG
Fool on the Hill ^
ReplyDeleteI posted the following to Sharon Hill's comment section. I'm pasting it here just in case she rejects it:
ReplyDeleteidoubtit,
Everything you say about the paranormal community applies to the skeptic community. The comments at Bigfoot Evidence run about 80-20 AGAINST Bigfoot. JREF posters are notoriously condescending and insulting toward intellectual opponents. Skeptics seem to “get off” on ridiculing and demeaning people with unorthodox or un-scientific opinions. It makes them feel superior or something.
But here’s my biggest problem with skeptics: Unlike the “faith-based” community, they refuse to admit having doubts. Most Bigfooters admit to feeling jaded and frustrated by all the hoaxes and disappointments in the field of Bigfoot research. Most religious people admit to having a “crisis of faith” at some point in their lives. But I never hear a skeptic acknowledge the possibility that things go bump in the night. Their aggressive, obnoxious, and dishonest attempts at “debunking” all paranormal claims strike me as desperate attempt to erase doubt from their own minds.
I think it all goes back to the God question. Most skeptics are atheists who embrace some form of materialism or scientism. They believe the material universe is all that exists and that SCIENCE is the only legitimate source of knowledge. Like you said, “Life is short and it’s all you got.” The skeptic’s worldview is all about certainty and control. They cannot tolerate mystery or doubt. This explains their contempt for something as harmless as Bigfoot research. If Bigfoot is real, maybe “science” is not all it’s cracked up to be. Maybe we’re not as smart as we think. Maybe materialism doesn’t have the final word. If a natural creature like Bigfoot could exist right under our noses without being discovered, what supernatural forces could exist beyond the reach of science?
Maybe you’re right about Bigfooters. Maybe our “faith-based” worldview hurts our objectivity and makes us hostile toward critics. However, skeptics have their own baggage: They are intellectually, psychologically, professionally, and emotionally invested in a universe without mystery. And don’t give me the same old skeptic retort: “But I would love for Bigfoot to exist!” Sure, if Bigfoot was captured tomorrow, you’d be excited like everyone else. But as long as Bigfoot remains a mystery, you have psychological reasons for not believing.
I like your blog, though. You’re a good writer.
(clive squashy)
DeleteSomebody needs a hug.
You write much better than Sharon. Maybe she can let you proof read her rants that are disquised as enlightening the infidels as to reality according to Sharon. Of course, that would be like her waiving the white flag. Bigfoot will be proven before Sharon waives any white flags.
DeletePlenty of mystery in this world. A 9ft bipedal half human covered in hair complete with every relict evolutionary feature as well as features like bioluminescence and 4th dimensional cloaking abilities is not one of these physical mysteries. It's a psychological enigma fueled by woo, "me, me, me, ME!", and profit.
Delete"I think it all goes back to the God question. Most skeptics are atheists who embrace some form of materialism or scientism."
DeleteAnd what do you base that on? Roughly 1/3 of Americans believe in the magic monkey.
http://blog.chron.com/sciguy/2012/09/one-third-of-americans-believe-in-bigfoot/
Yet over 90% of Americans believe in God.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/147887/americans-continue-believe-god.aspx
Get your facts straight.
^ Much like your hair
DeleteOnce you learn the paranormal skills of the 4th dimensional Bigfoot, then you start to understand the characteristics of the creator of that phenomenon. A creator would have the same or greater abilities. Native Americans report the Bigfoot to be shape shifters. Bears, eagles and mountain lions, are just some of what they have been witnessed to imitate. And Stephen Hawking knows more about Bigfoot, than he has been willing to admit publicly.
DeleteMy hair? Do you know me?
DeletePatrick? Get to bed you have to open tomorrow.
DeleteDude, that Stephen Hawking east bay story is such a joke. Isn't it convenient that he'll talk about everything including alien life but he won't talk about bigfoot? Get real.
DeleteParanormal is such a cop out, just like a multigovernmental conspiracy.
If you had anything legitimate you would take James Randi's million dollar challenge and be a cool million dollars richer.
I'm a hard core atheist, but I think sasquatch is most likely for real. Sasquatch and ufo's are about the only paranormal thing that I'm not skeptical about.
DeleteWait.......12:08 is serious? I thought it was Dan trolling anon. WOW. That folks is mental illness at it's finest.
DeleteYeah, he's serious. Crazy runs deep in bigfootery dude.
DeleteI'd just like to state that I'm not an atheist, I give bigfoot less than 1% of a chance of existing, and due to sheer volume and multiverse theory that there is intelligent life forms on other planets.
I am an atheist, but a polite one. But I hardly worship at the alter of SCIENCE!!11!11!1. My philosophic/spiritual views have nothing to do with my views on the paranormal though. It is indeed a massive universe and in no way do I presume to begin to understand how and why it is.
DeleteDanny the jerkoff is back bullshitting, remember when he used to call himself some silly number around here 1155 or whatever it was, I forget. Ketchum's only partly right, she's right the species exists but everybody's ignoring the most important thing in Bigfoot's mystery body the stuff kooks like Danny have no clue on, that these 9ft haircovered guys are neither apes nor mortal men but most likely ET. Core of the matter, why we still debate 50 years on and fight organized trolls.
DeleteWhen I say "skeptic," I don't mean "people who don't believe Bigfoot." I mean people who debate Bigfoot believers and try to debunk their claims. JREF, Sharon Hill, Daniel Campbell...people like that. In my experience, they're almost all atheists who are EXTREMELY confident that paranormal events never happen.
Delete^ word, except I beg to differ on her style points, not a fanboy
DeleteDaniel I responded to you in the other thread. Would like to hear your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteLink me or post it here, I only have my iPhone so going through 200 comments is tideious.
DeleteNo worries...it was about the link I posted earlier today about the fossil find in Georgia. I think if you read the article it becomes obvious what Sykes big reveal will be. And how it will be used to show "proof" of bigfoot. I could be way off but the location of the find and the timing match to well in my mind. Just curious on your thoughts.
Deletehttp://www.theguardian.com/science/2013/oct/17/skull-homo-erectus-human-evolutio
Well, it seems that you are thinking this is in Georgia, USA. It's actually the country of Georgia, north of Armenia and south of Russia, east of Turkey.
DeleteI think scientifically it's huge and I can't wait to read the material that ensues between the different scientific camps. Will it truly redefine our idea of evolution and erase several previous homininids?
No i knew it was the country.
ReplyDeleteThis line caught my attention....." They say this falsifies that Australopithecus sediba is the ancestor of Homo......".
That will be the new bigfoot. The link above is incomplete so does not work. I apologize here is the correct one.
http://www.theguardian.com/science/2013/oct/17/skull-homo-erectus-human-evolution
And one day I might even reply in the right spot. Been a long day.
DeleteYeah, I added the n and it worked.
DeleteI'm very interested in ancestory and evolution, but I feel unqualified to even attempt to say what conclusions can be drawn until both scientific camps publish more information.
Good chance you may be right in your assumptions.
It's been heralded before that bigfoot was a H. Heidelbergensis as it was the largest known species of hominids.
This type of stuff is really why drew me to bigfoot in the first place, but the loonies and actions of the community has been the catalysts for my comments here.
It's good to talk about real world science though Muir because all PJ and co seem to talk about is old hearsay, circumstantial evidence, and ghosts.
Go eat some Sodium Fluoroacetate Daniel
DeleteAnd all this time Crampz agrees with me that Bigfoot is a type of human.
DeleteHa ha ha ha ha!!!
Silly man... Bang on about ghosts and stuff, I don't think you know what pure on about, do you?
You talk about me 'pwning myself' when you need to look at what's really going on in that head of yours bro.
Peace.
You are really grasping at straws, don't you think?
DeleteI said it's been heralded as H. hiedelbergensis, mainly by quacks like Jeff Meldrum.
When and where did I say bigfoot is a human?
I didn't you looney bastard.
Bigfoot doesn't exist as you know it.
How many straw man do you need to finish that argument?
LOL
"Blah blah blah, contradictions."
DeleteGet busy Crampz... I've pasted your contradiction everywhere.
; )
Too bad Sykes is only in this field so the myth can go on you gotta see that Joe by now, none of them have any real intentions of solving this. It's all tactic.
DeleteThanks and agree. The loons though are what bring me back.
ReplyDeleteI was a bleever in my youth but After spending 15 years now in the Rockies.....it is just not there. But I find the belief system in the community fascinating so keep coming back.
My thinking is this site is near where the Zina?? story comes from. Plus this would fulfill the idea he has found something that will change history. Then with declaring Australopithecus no longer part of the homo line we have the magic monkey. Or his ancestor most likely. Again i could be totally off. But I am willing to admit that.
Zana and her son Khwit were both humans -- http://www.isogg.org/ancientdna.htm
DeleteWhat Bigfoot is partly, goofbag.
Delete"After spending 15 years now in the Rockies.....it is just not there."
DeleteI never understood this line of argument. If Bigfoots exist, they are smart and extremely rare. We're talking less than 1,000 individuals spread across thousands of miles of wilderness. Even if you spent your entire life in the deep woods, it's very unlikely that you would ever see one.
Have I just stumbled back on the JREF forum?
ReplyDeleteGive me a second as I log in under my user name Mike G.
Ah there. That's better.
Jeez Muir and Dan those footer types can be very tiresome with all this magic monkey malarkey.
I'm glad you guys are here to keep everyone safe from their silliness.
I'm also glad you've dismissed Dr Sykes out of hand. Some of us were getting frightened you know.
This thing about the two samples he says will change our understanding of human history forever is nothing right?
If you and Muir could post some more hyperbole it would sure make us all feel better.
I had a dream last night that Dr Sykes tested James Randi's DNA and it came back as Almasty crossed with Black Bear crossed with the AIDS virus.
Hoping I sleep better tonight....
Yours Randily
MMG or if you insist Mike G.
Muir thinks Georgia in the States and Georgia in Europe are the same place.
Delete(Giggle)
PJ can't read or comprehend apparently.
DeleteMuir clearly stated in his response that he knew the difference, it was a misjudgment on my part that you grasped and ran with.
Holy fuck are you an imbecile.
"VROOM, VROOM!"

You're getting smoked today bro.
He so is.
DeleteDaniel Campbell, You appear to be from outer space and pretty much out of touch with everything happening on earth. Which country are you currently residing so we may be able to explain away some of your naive arrogance?
Delete
