Why Bigfoot Cannot Be Human (You are NOT Sasquatch)

Editor's Note: This is a guest post by Bigfoot Evidence contributor Dirk Taylor, a Sasquatch enthusiast.

Bigfoot is an ape like creature that is extremely rare, and has yet to be discovered. While this may not be as exciting as some other theories it is simply the only plausible explanation based on the evidence.

Bigfoot, like its cousin the gorilla did for many years, has managed to avoid discovery. For many years people believed the gorilla was nothing more than a myth, and then it was finally discovered, with the response being "we found another animal, whoopeee!!!".

Bigfoot is similar to other rare species of animals, and the qualities and reasoning behind why it has managed to evade discovery are present with other animals. For example the tiger is extremely rare and extremely hard to catch so much as a glimpse of it in the wild. Photographers can rarely capture a picture of a tiger in the wild, but if they do, the picture can be sold for a hefty sum. The fact it is extremely difficult to capture photographs and video evidence does not set it apart from every other animal or make it unique or one of a kind.

It is not a “missing link”, for a number of reasons. First how do you explain the fact it failed to keep evolving? What caused the evolutionary process to just stop? Second, by all accounts it surpasses human abilities in many ways. How do you explain that humans fail to possess these abilities? Essentially humans would have to devolve and lose certain abilities and traits for this to be true. Rather than getting stronger and faster you would have to believe that humans have become slower and weaker. This amounts to saying that humans devolved and lost traits that would make them the “fittest”. Third is the fossil record. We have a fossil record in the form of Gigantopithicus. Is it really likely that we have just not found a fossil of the creature, or, is the likely, logical conclusion, that Giganto represents the fossil record of this creature?

In addition, for them to be human they would have to be a race of “super people”. It is said they can engage in extreme feats of strength, including hurling large boulders and tree stumps that weigh hundreds of pounds great distances. They are said to be able to race down deer and other animals meaning they are incredibly fast, well beyond human capabilities. They would have to have incredible immune systems to be able to constantly consume raw food and not feel the effects of the bacteria contained therein. Their bodies would have to have a completely different genetic makeup in order to deal with the extreme temperatures. By all accounts they do not wear clothing and they do not use fire. There makeup would have to allow for dealing with this and that would make them completely different from humans. The ability to deal with extreme temperatures is not part of the human body’s makeup. This is why we began using animal skins and fire for warmth. Before anyone responds, “they are covered with hair”, put on thermal under wear and as many layers of clothing as you can. Then go to the Rocky Mountains in the dead of winter and see how long you can survive without fire and only these layers of clothing for warmth. Like many other animals they will likely build and use dens for warmth and this is in no way an indication they are similar to humans and is consistent with the behavior of wolves, bears, raccoons and many other animals. What is more likely, that these creatures are human with abilities so far beyond those found in all other humans, or, it is an animal, that shares the traits that are common in many other animals?

To go further, there is a difference between intelligence and instinct. There are very few animals that will allow humans to get close to them. The ability to avoid human interaction is present in many species of animals across the world. The fact this creature is able to avoid humans while in their natural habitat is not a sign of intelligence but rather a common trait that many animals share. In addition, it is believed they are most active at night. The fact they avoid detection while in extreme darkness, (little if any light, most nights in the areas where they reside), in their natural habitat, is not a sign of intelligence but rather instinct. Yes these creatures are intelligent, but people act as though they do not have a number of advantages when it comes to avoiding human detection, and the only reason they are successful in doing so is because they are smart. How do you avoid crossing paths with a bear? The answer is to make noise. A Sasquatch avoiding crossing paths with a human as a result of them knowing they are in the area is no different than the behavior of a bear. All of the supposed evidence of the creature’s extreme intelligence is also found in other animals and is also the result of there being an incredibly small population.

Finally to address stories of kidnapped women for mating purposes. While these may have some truth, there is no evidence of any half Bigfoot and half human children. There are also ancient stories of “skin walkers” which are often dismissed. It is simply not logical to dismiss some stories as legend and then accept some as fact. Even if these stories were true, they are not evidence of Bigfoot being human but rather evidence that Bigfoot may have viewed human women as a potential mate. One can’t just assume that because of this the creature is human.

The idea that Bigfoot is some type of man is an extremely interesting concept. It is extremely fascinating and people want to believe this because it is more interesting than it just being a rare undiscovered ape.

In reality it is simply not the most likely scenario. The most likely scenario is that Bigfoot is an undiscovered ape with an extremely limited population. It is like the gorilla in the fact it has been able to avoid discovery, but is much rarer, making the official discovery that much more difficult. It is indigenous to the extreme backcountry of North America where few humans travel on a regular basis. This is the same area that is home to the Wolverine, another animal that until relatively recently, was thought to be a myth. The habitat plays a large role in why the creature has yet to be discovered and this has been seen and documented before.

Claims that DNA shows they are human must be critically examined and people must consider the source. These claims come from a person that has said she was sexually assaulted by a Sasquatch and that Sasquatch braid her horses’ manes. Now is it logical a horse would allow a Bigfoot to get that close? Is it likely a Sasquatch sexually assault a woman then put her close back on, while at the same time being so gentile that he failed to inflict any injury?

It is no more likely that Bigfoot is a human, than it is that they get together for a poker game every week with Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny.

    1. Cool? The guy's nuts but we'll probably see more of these bitterly barfed pills from the apers in the near future right until the Ketchum paper comes out and sets the record straight, it'll push all these wannabe cleverpants aside quickly. Sasquatch is not an ape, they aren't animals, and before you start with the nitpicking word fighting pseudo science that we're all animals and apes/primates - yes of course we are but if you're bipedal with a language and cunning intelligence then you're of the human side not the nonhuman primate side of the gorillas, chimps or gigantos. LOL

    2. Your simply wrong on all points and you are delusional. Now I will try and use small words so you understand. Dolphins have a language and many animals use sounds to communicate. Are dolphins humans? No. Your citing a language holds no weight. A kangaroo is bi-pedal, now is a kangaroo a human? Again your ignorance shows through.

Finally you say "cunning intelligence". First normal to below average intelligence will appear cunning to a person of extremely limited intelligence such as yourself. The truth is they are on par with most other animals.

You believe "these Bigfeet be people and they is just like us". This is simply not true and shows you are a small minded person who engages in fantasy.

When I say language mr. animal nitpicker you know exactly what's referred to, a humanlike language of intelligible words in the vocal capability of wording like us.
The other great apes can't do that but these furry friends can so there's no way around it we'll have to welcome them as classified Homos in the end, unless they're from another planet and you want to talk about that.

    8. Wolves and canines have language. Birds have language. Polly want a cracker? Does that make Polly human? I have seen several parrots carry on conversations with people. Is it only mimicking? Maybe, but it sure talked a lot. My dog understands all kinds of words and I understand all kinds of his barks, whines, growls. Almost every animal has a language that can be understood.

To use only language as the definition of human is stupid. Humans have one basic things that separates them from other animals. That is the thumb. Our thumbs allowed us develop tools, which led to technology which leads us to now.

Other primates have thumbs, but there is a difference. Other primates seem to have stopped evolving. Other animal seem to still be evolving.

But here is the strange part. Other animals are using tools now. Otters use rocks and even some fish are using rocks now. Bears have used sticks to dig out honey. We are not far from any animal.

And the scariest part? We are going to have hell to pay if any other evolving animal develops a thumb.

This is my view on God and evolution. I think God tossed a bunch of living cells into the soup pot earth. As the cells lived, died and multiplied he added more to the mix. I think once he saw the cells growing into different animals and such he sat back to watch. As the earth changes, animals evolve. Those that can't change, die. Those that do, thrive. Until they stop evolving.

Guess what? We stopped evolving a long time ago and decided to force the earth to our ways. But who will win? Us or the earth?

Since all animals have a lot of the same dna, it supports my idea. If bigfoot is real and has just appeared in the last 15,000 years, are they going to supplant us as the dominate species on earth? Because we can't devolve enough to live with the earth?

So are they human or not? I don't think so. They might have a lot of our dna, but so does most of the rest of the world. Just like languages.

    11. Listen APE-MEN... Look at an apes feet. Gorillas, Orangutans, Chimpanzees.. Notice anything? "But they live in trees!!!!" Fine, look at a Baboon's feet.. they mostly hunt on the ground. All apes have hands for feet whether they live in trees or not. They are all shaped differently in width and length, but all resemble hands.

Go into the fossil record and look at all of the feet of genus Homo. Though we do not have the complete skeletal remains of most of their feet, we do have fossilized foot prints that anthropologists are sure belongs to this or that Hominid. Personally I think there is more evidence for Bigfoot than what feet these ancient prints belonged to, but hey, I did not make up the rules, they did..

H.Heidleberg, H.Neanderthal, H.Erectus, H.Habilis etc.. They all had feet just like ours, minus an arch.

As for them being covered in hair? lol Lets look at the hair. They have hairy breasts, they have hairy chests. They have hairy faces. These are places where apes do not have hair, but Humans do. The artwork of H.Erectus shows a hairy creature, the artwork of H.Neaderthal does not, when most likely IT above all others would have most likely had the woolliest and thickest body hair of them all considering the climate it lived in.

As for Giganto lol. all we have of Giganto are teeth and a partial jaw that was later reconstructed into a full jaw that they later added a skull to (A completely fabricated skull to fit the jaw.) They made a giant Orangutan skull to fit the jaw that resembled a giant orangutan and all but bigfoot ape-campers thing Giganto was a quadruped. A true ape.

Bigfoot whoops and howls and this makes it an ape? Humans do this very same thing sometimes without realizing it.. War-cries, excitement, disgust or me when I watched my Cowboys get beat by the Redskins on Thanksgiving.

This is funny. When this press-release came out, The skeptics actually shut up and took a step back. (No doubt most are waiting for this report to crash and burn so they can come back in full force.) I even noticed some of the known trolls excited about it. The only ones that seem to be making a fuss, are you ape-people lol.. go figure.

    3. I have to agree with you SN. If one reads Dr. John Bindernagle's book North America's Great Ape: the Sasquatch, he does a pretty good job of comparing the Sasquatch attributes to those of the great apes and humans through close witness sightings and of the work of Dian Fossey, Jane Goodall and others with the apes. The Sasquatch shares so much in common to the great apes and they also share so much in common with Humans. Right now it is an entirely unique animal with mtDNA identical or very very close to human and nuDNA of something else. Right now everything is a guess and although that can be fun and should be encouraged, there are not many absolute facts except that they exit, and can reach massive heights and mass.

    5. Alpha Dog: There is no mtDNA result. There is no nu DNA result. Nothing has been published. Nothing has been peer reviewed. Nothing is reproducible. If and when something is reproducible and we can show that animal X produces DNA Y, then you can say things like that.

As for this article, nothing has stopped evolving. Evolution isn't a ladder that's climbed to a platform, and once there, the creature rests. Evolution is a process. It's driven by random mutation, pressure from outside sources, and premature death.

You can't remove the mutation. You can't remove the pressure, you can only hide it's effects.

Want to see evolution in action? Look at how viruses kill off humans. Look at what HIV is doing to humans. Tens of millions dead, tens of millions sick.

One reason we seem to be immune to evolutionary pressures is that we've become the ultimate general purpose organism. We've adapted to every environment and rolled with the punches for quite a while now. But that doesn't mean we're immune, it just makes it appear we are. Throw in another virus, and 6 billion of us could die just like that.

    6. Anon 6:28, How do you know nothing has been peer reviewed? That press release and Ketchum's own words of her not being allowed in the past suggests otherwise. The last part of the press release was the journalists own words

"Full details of the study will be presented in the near future when the study manuscript publishes".

      Read more: http://www.digitaljournal.com/pr/943177#ixzz2DK6dphsS

There is no mention of peer review like there was before... "Will" and "When" not "may" or "likely" or "might" and in reguards to publication, not peer review. Giving absolutes like that as a journalist could get you a lawsuit if it is not accurate.

This does imply that the peer review has passed and is awaiting publication. Ketchum's own reaction to what Bertsev said, also implies this.

I love how everyone seems to forget crap including the fusses all you anti-Ketchum people have made. Remember when it was posted here Ketchum's own words that she her self was not allowed to say anything due to the peer review, that we would all see when the paper was published? A lot of you all of the sudden became peer review experts and stated that she was full of it.. remember that??? Now she has made a press release. If she was not allowed to give any information before and now all of the sudden is, then what does that tell you?

  5. Could it be that what we have been taught about our evolution is incorrect or outright disinformation? Is it possible that what is presented to us as our fossil record is actually a bunch of very different beings that existed at one time but never evolved into the people sitting at their computers right now. Not that I'm completely on board with everything he presents but Lloyd Pye makes some very interesting points about our supposed fossil record. Is it so far fetched to believe that at one time the earth was dominated by many different forms of hominid and that there has been no catastrophic event to wipe them all out? All of these different forms of hairy wild man that are being reported remain from a period where the earth was once dominated by them. Why are they now so good at going undetected? Could it be that they have been taught through generations of experience that being detected will most likely result in injury or death.

    3. Nail on the head. To say that we are physically weaker than relic hominids so we must have somehow "devolved" is factually incorrect. The fossil record shows that there were known hominid species massively more powerful than us that are considered as other forms of human. Many factors determine natural selection and evolution and therefore why we are the dominant species now. To say that if we are relatively physically weaker now in our current environment must mean we have somehow devolved because some rare form of more physically powerful humanoid exists in the wild is misleading. For a start our advanced technology and living conditions have reduced our need for pure physical toughness. I would fully expect a race of wild humans to possess abilities far beyond most of us.Not saying bigfoot is human or ape or even exists only that this article is not fairly balanced on the subject.

    5. Yes it could be and probably is true that there are flaws with evolutionary theory which will be exposed clearly with further DNA tests of these samples.

That would explain why scientists such as Dr. Eugenie Scott are defensive about the subject: they fear what they have based their careers and life's work on will be shown to be not what they have purported it to be. (Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain syndrome.)

It would explain why scientist's knees start knocking together the minute you start digging into this and releated fields.

For Dr. Eugenie Scott to say I think the Snowalker subject is a prank, and one of the climbers snuck back and put on an ape suit in order to be filmed, only reveals that she needs an eye exam.

Her effeminite buddy on the same program lisped, "I don't think there's any such thing as bigfoot. I think bigfoot's a man in a suit."

Yes, the words of a professional scientist who gets interviewed for TV. Wow. The ignorance. He also needs an eye exam.

You can see the pattern of defending evolutionary theory, nervously, with cheesy attacks which fall flat, nose-first.

Today on the radio there was a report that climatologists' "feelings are hurt" because so many "laymen" don't believe them, and call global warming a religion.

Should we all stop pursuing the truth in various fields so we don't hurt scientists' feelings?

Yes, this was on the radio today.

The ancient human footprints overlaid with an apparently pursuing dinosaur's footprints along a creekbed in California I believe, is evidence that strict evolutionary theory is incorrect. Why aren't scientists studying this find fiercely? Why is this not front page news every day until it's solved?

I'm sorry evolutionists, but the dinosaur prints overlay the human prints. Dating is partly based on layering. There are your layers. Go ahead and date them. The dinosaur prints are imprinted over the human prints. Have fun.

It frankly shows that imagination can be more accurate than scientific theory.

    6. Cont'd:

It means that the likes of Edgar Rice Burroughs and Jules Verne (who made Cape Canaveral the space rocket launch site--in about 1880!) could be more accurate, via imagination, than the sometimes plodding nature of science.

      On Verne:

Verne wrote about space, air, and underwater travels before air travel and practical submarines were invented, and before practical means of space travel had been devised.

He is best known for his novels Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870), Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).

Imagine all the skeptics laughing their heads off at Verne in the 1860s, 1870s, and 1880s. He would have received all the attacks and put-downs which you read from the skeptics on this blog.

Verne was a visionary, and visionaries rely largely on imagination, not voluntarily thinking only within the limits of science.

Keep in mind though that Da Vinci, at least on paper, invented a type of helicopter, and possibly a submarine. Keep in mind too he was an artist, not a purely left-brained scientist. He developed both sides of his brain.

Today, the left and right sides of the brain are neatly divided into fields: science-related fields are all left-brained; arts-related fields are all right-brained.

We are taught to worship science and deplore the imaginative. So any theory imagined, which is outside the box of science, is pilloried. Anyone imagining possibilities about Sasquatch is attacked for not being a scientist.

Literally anything outside the borders of science, is laughed at. Anything. But since science is always developing in various ways, what is outside the box of science may be only a temporary situation.

      Delete
    7. cont'd:

Why is being a scientist so important? Why should a person be a purely left-brained individual? Wouldn't that be a kind of deformity or retardation? Why would anyone volunteer for that defect?

If your left brain is developed while your right brain is shrivelled, that's a good thing? Come on. That's what science-worship encourages. Limitation. It's a limited view and a limtited state of being. It is active, voluntary limitation.

The separation of the fields into right- and left-brained factions is totally wrong-headed, it only divides people, and makes the fields and their members antagonistic toward each other. Obviously both sides of the brain should be devoloped.

Science types would do well to work on their imaginations.

  9. Just like the domesticated dog, the Bigfoot have had thousands if not hundreds of thousands of years to evolve alongside humans. They were there when the pyramids were built, they crossed the land bridge with the Native American tribes following the caribou and deer migrations, and they watched idly as we won our revolution. They know us better than we know them, once again much like our canine companions. This is the only way they've managed to keep themselves safe and hidden. That and the Governments National Parks program which was successful in establishing over 84,000,000 acres of near pristine North American habitat for them to play around in undetected. All of this is pure speculation of course, no theories can be surmised... yet

The politicians and media have such little taste for real science anyway, giving them any kind of credit in discovering and then subsequently hiding something this big is not something I intend to do. The facts are that large numbers of animals maintain relatively human free lives in these protected areas created at both the State and National level. If Bigfoot is real fauna logic stands that they too would flourish in these environments regardless of government awareness. As for FB/FB they are wasting time on a glorified TV pilot/film school wannabe hobby when the real legwork would involve (ironically) the same methods Todd Standing claims to have used to discover and take pictures of his subjects. The Scientific community is one that attempts to cure cancer, discover new stars, and chart the depths of the ocean so I understand their lack of enthusiasm regarding Bigfoot and the Yeti. That leaves just us internet geeks and pseudo-intellectuals around to rummage around with our meek abilities and funding trying to scrape together a show-and-tell project for the "big kids". Isn't that how secrets stay hidden though? When nobody even bothers to look them over with any kind of serious scrutiny or effort?

  11. This assumes a teleological view of evolution, as though there were some end goal in mind. The fact that a hypothetical human relative didn't develop the same complex of behaviors as H. sapiens did by no means implies that it has somehow stopped evolving- indeed, by mentioning the increased size and strength, cold tolerance, and furry pelt, you give several possible examples of characteristics that could have evolved within the bigfoot lineage after it split from the ancestors of H. sapiens.

Conversely, H. sapiens need not have 'devolved' or reverted to a physically smaller and weaker ancestral form if they never evolved the supposedly-advantageous traits that bigfoot has in the first place; and if they did, that is by no means a paradox- it's possible that our lineage developed other characteristics (such as tool use, language, and control of fire) that meant physically smaller or weaker individuals didn't face a significant reproductive disadvantage compared to their larger peers, and/or that larger size, greater strength, and cold tolerance may only provide situational benefits- I'd imagine a bigfoot-sized creature needs to eat a lot more than you or I do, for example, and may have more trouble dealing with overheating.

I'm not discrediting the Gigantopithecus identity entirely, mind, just pointing out that one of the arguments this paper makes for it is a bit ill-founded.

There are several shows that document chickens in embryo have tails and teeth, but as they develope, a genetic evolutionary trait kicks in and turns off the tail and teeth.

Elephants are another proof of evolution. Seems they must have developed NADS hair remover as the earth got warmer.

Both chickens and elephants are much smaller than their ancestors.

But you are right in some weird crap turns up on this earth. The ancient buildings that to this day we would have difficulty in buildings, or not capable at all, are a different matter all together.

      Delete
    5. Actually the chicken is an adaption too. That is what evolution is. We evolve or adapt to our environment in order to survive. Chickens didn't need teeth or tails anymore, so they stopped growing them. Elephants didn't need hair anymore. I think humans have been around for an awful long time. Since we had knowledge of fire, shelter, etc, we slowly took the top species award. Our slower cousins and primates didn't evolve or adapt like us. They decided they were happy filling their niche. Those that didn't, wouldn't, or couldn't adapt, died. Sharks and some other reptiles have been around forever. Why did some species die off?

As for your number of species, you are off by about 138.3 million as of latest estimate, but I get your point. ;) The powers that be say 86% of land and 91% of sea species are undiscovered. Out of an estimated total of 8.7 million. Shows how little we really know of the earth.

  12. Your entire post of full of logical fallacies.

    1. You assumed Bigfoot is a cousin of the gorrila, when in fact we do not know who or what it is related to, all the facts have yet to have been released.

    2. You said how do you explain bigfoot has failed to continue to evolve. Several problems with that assumption. #1 according to the released information so far bigfoot was created by a homo sapian sapian mother and "unknown hominid" only 15,000 years ago, That is not a long time to "evolve" Humans are thought to be in their present modern form for about the past 200,000 years. Dogs and wolves do not evolve or devolve, they are bred for characteristics they are not evolving. that does not show macro evolution and the entire concept of macro evolution has never itself even been proven. Evolving does not mean becoming fitter and stronger, if that was the case we would have never left the tree's of Africa where are modern "Cousin's" as you put it are known to be much fitter and stronger then us, but they also can not design a Winchester Rifle to shoot them either.

    3. The fossil record is very incomplete and mostly the ideas about what is a human and what is a human ancestor are made from only a few fragments of bones and TONS of heavy speculation that is routinely proven wrong by other fields such as geology and, DNA etc. Giganto is known from only a few bones mostly teeth and what it actually looked like and how it lived is actually just speculation. There are many times scientist has looked at a few bones and speculated only to be proven very far off and wrong later. Remember all their speculation has to fit their agenda of the speculation they have laid out prior, other wise the whole house of cards comes down.

The truth is we do not know much about our history. One aspect that is lost in all this news is if bigfoot is half human female and half "unknown homonid" there where and what exactly is that homonid? was it bigger, where did it come from, when did it die, is it still out there also? This report leaves more questions then answers but with this being a legit science maybe this will open up the flood gates for research dollars to pour in. Maybe Alma's and Yowie's are different, Maybe the orang pendek is yet still different. Maybe Homoforensis is still out there. All these things are myths and legends with recent reports of sightings . There may well be 3-4 different Bipedal hominids out there alive. Some may be Ape's some may be Human. The next 5 years I suspect we will learn more then we knew in the last 500 about this subject.

    4. I love they way all of them say "proven" and never back it up. lol Jim, I respect you, but adaptation is not proof of evolution. Nor is the chicken. Everything including humans have a tail in the embryo stage. Adaptation is merely a mutation that happened to have a beneficial effect. Cancer is another mutation. If you want to say "This species evolved into that species." then I will buy that. However "This genus evolved into that genus."... Prove it.

To make the strongest case for the whole theory of evolution, you could simply take all these chemicals that they claim are the building blocks of life and create a simple single-celled organism. It has yet to be done. We can clone, we can engineer, we can cross-breed but we can't create a simple single-celled organism? And that is only the first step... Then you would need to speed that bady-boys life cycle up and see if it evolves into a multi-celled. Until this is done, I will stick with Intelligent Design.

Unfortunately many people think if they wish hard enough that will some how make the Sasquatch human. Sorry to break the news but that will not happen.

A more likely scenario is that the government will pass laws protecting, what is in fact an ape indigenous to North America. At some point their population will increase and then it will be deemed acceptable to hunt them, just like a Grizzly bear and other animals. The possibility exists that people from all over the world will travel to the United States and Canada for the purpose of hunting them, similarly to how people travel to Africa to hunt lions.

    9. There are several reports of bigfoot killing and or eating deer by witnesses. Of course those could be made up but I imagine in order maintain their size etc, they have to be omnivores. I doubt that they are herbivores as all large herbivores have multichamber stomachs in order to digest as much plant matter as possible. Bears are closest in size to bigfoot in the omnivore group. But as far as we know, bigfoot does not hibernate.

      Delete
    10. Maybe Bigfoot has a more fish based diet? I'm not saying that the whole deer thing isn't valid it's just with out any form of crafted tools or weapons how would they bring down a deer and rip it up to eat? Sure they have brute strength but what about the claws and sharp canines that we associate with predatory animals like wolves, bears, big cats etc. I know most primates are omnivorous (including us) but don't think that even a gorilla could chase a deer through a forest and catch it maybe ambush it from the trees sure but chase after a deer and wrestle it down would be very hard and surely catching fish might be easier. Plus deer have antlers would they be a good defense against an animal with no sharp claws? I could be very wrong of course and like you said just purely because of they're size they would have to have a high protein diet. Maybe they're very intelligent and hunt in groups chasing deer into a trap where they end up surrounded by Squatch and attack like an angry mob??

      Delete
    11. That could be, but fish would have to be really high in population. A fish is harder to kill than a deer if you think about it. Deer can be ambushed, chased off a cliff, run into a box canyon and have rocks dropped on it and just plain taken down. Ever wrestled a ram or yearling cow? I have. Let me tell you, it is not easy but if you grab the head right. Down they go. Then choke it out. And both of those run bigger than most deer.

      Delete
    12. You could be right, just as a comparison though what percentage of a gorilla's diet is meat based? They're the biggest primates would be interesting to find out and how much of a grizzly's diet is meat too?

      Delete
    13. According to Wiki Gorillas are almost exclusively herbivores and 80% to 90% of a grizzly's diet is from plants, nuts, seeds etc. The biggest grizzly's are in Alaska and Canda who feed off the salmon which has a high fat content making them bigger bears. My bet is Squatch are big on fish, nuts, seeds, berries, fruits and insects like other primates and bears too rather than game animals unless they've scavenged from another animal's kill? Just a theory :)

Claiming they can't be in the human genus because they are stronger and faster? Um please, almost every primitive hominid was stronger and faster than us, we have become weaker, and no it is not devolving. Evolution is change, it does not have to work towards being "better" or "worse" as if these terms were at all objective. It is changing to fit a nitch. Our current nitch is the couch, so of course we are not even close to the fitness of even memebers of our own species from 1000 years ago. If we had been evolving to live in the woods things would be quite different. This person made a lot of points that all basically break down to a complete misunderstanding of the process of evolution, and humanities place in it. When she dropped a bunch of people from her staff, everyone called her insane again. But in hindsight, once sally was gone, so was Lindsay's reports about Ketchum.

A lot of this stuff could have either been lies fabricated by Lindsay or smokescreens against him. For all we know she could have been purposely making stuff up to see who was leaking the info. So why would anyone sabotage a Ketchum's paper by spreading crazy rumours about her before any of the findings have been announced? No one has anything to gain by doing that because you don't know if it's going to prove existence or deny it and everyone has an option they want validated right? If all the crazy talk came out now then sure it could be a backlash but this has been reported on for months and does it really matter if the creature is ape or human? Isn't proving it exists enough? Even if it was more human than ape it wouldn't be treated different, it would be treated as an equal to us or get any civil rights or have the Democrats or Republicans fighting to get that important Sasquatch vote next election! They'd be treated as apes regardless, protected by law as endangered for sure but they wouldn't be given the same rights as you have just because of their DNA

It could be the way anonymous commentators frequently use "There" when they mean "They're" or "Their" but I'm pretty sure the total misunderstanding of evolution in the original post trumps that.

Evolution doesn't stop. Evolution doesn't slow. Evolution is not intelligent and does not have an end goal. Evolution isn't big and it isn't clever, evolution really, really isn't clever.

Evolution is a term we use to discuss the concepts behind the fact that some instructions to recreate a protein from it's constituent parts got reproduced and others didn't.

    2. Because of computer models. The progenitor of I.D. was once a hardcore Darwinian Evolutionist. No computer could account for macro evolution but the problem was not just macro evolution. it was the beginning of life it's self. It did not "Naturally" occur.

Here is the other problem and could be solid proof against evolution. Mars. It has all the things earth has. all those building-blocks are there. It is just different. More CO2 than Oxygen. But b the rules of selective design, mars should be teaming with life. We have organisms that live in boiling temperature and devoid of sunlight on the ocean floor near volcanic vents, we have organisms that live in the darkest caves and never come in contact with Sun-light. We have organisms that thrive in the most arid of deserts. So why doesn't Mars? Why didn't life start there in it's own way? If evolution naturally occurs, then every planet should have life.

We have absolutely no evidence of Macro Evolution, only Micro-evolution and evolutionists try to use one to justify the other. But here is the problem... Micro-evolution is pre-programmed into our DNA. This has been tested, retested and proven. A sea Iguana has the same genetic material that a green iguana has. The gene for webbed feet exists in the green iguana but it is recessive and dormant. These kinds of mutations are more like switches. Every now and then a freak green iguana is born with webbed feet.

But when you start delving into the world of Macro-evolution, you might as well be delving into the world of God or supernatural causes. Not only is there no evidence of it, but the rules Micro-evolution do not allow it. No genus can even interbreed with another as the genes do not match. If Macro-evolution was real, then everything should have the same genes as everything else.

    3. Maybe there is no life on Mars or Jupiter or where ever because there was some tiny natural change on Earth that didn't happen on the other planets in our solar system or maybe something so small as a lack of water? Yes we have animals that are thriving in extreme temperatures and environments but they gradually evolved to do that. If what you've said above is true then why do so many scientists believe in evolution, it's not because they are indoctrinated at school remember these are the people smart enough to be genetists, biologists and have the qualifications to back that up the people who devote their lives to try and discover the mysteries of our existance so if all these people on masse except evolutionary theory there might just be something in that! 26. To say this creature wouldn't have just stopped evolving really shows a lack of understanding about what evolving means. Denisovans, Heidelbergensis, Floresiensis and Neanderthals didn't stop evolving, they may have evolved differently. Some more and some less. We evolved to manage our environment rather than changing to suit it better. If a creature decides to do the latter, I don't think that it makes the argument for it being less evolved. Just well adapted enough to not have to change.
Also, I do find it funny when people bring religion into the evolution argument. Most Christians are Catholics, Virtually all Catholics accept evolutionary theory. To say that spiritual belief and evolution are mutually exclusive comes from a place of ignorance. Every time I see this I have to laugh at the smugness regarding this assumption, which is the essence of ignorance itself. While evolution is NOT proven, I do take it on assumption.
Whether or not Sasquatch is human or not is at this point irrelevant. All other homo species that have existed prior were more closely related to humans than apes. Regarding this apparent study, it would read mostly human from a sharing around 99% of similar base pairs and then the remaining being 'something else'. Determining possible hybrid species in the homo line is still a guessing game and not an exact science. ( e.g., Denisovans, Neanderthals > humans ).
Whichever way you want to interpret the data of the remaining 1% is up to you. Chimps are only thought to be 95% similar to human. You can say that this alleged Sasquatch dna is not quite human, which might be true to some extent but it also would be as close as anything else that exists.
