Is Renae Holland A BFRO Fraud?

Our old friend Tim Fasano is at it again. This time it's not Todd Standing or Matt Moneymaker he's attacking. We have no idea why he would be onto this woman like this, especially since he has admitted to having the hots for her.
Fasano says the BFRO could be lying about Ranae Holland's credentials. The BFRO claims that Renae Holland is a PHD Biologist who works with brown bears and salmon in the Pacific Northwest, but after extensively searching the internet and the NOAA's website, Fasano said he found no record of Ranae.
"There is no record about her on the internet except for the BFRO or affiliated sites. Why? It seems as if Ms. Holland appeared out of thin air when the Animal Planet show Finding Bigfoot started. BFRO claims she works for NOAA.GOV working in brown bear and salmon research. No record of this can be found on the Noaa site or any other site on the internet. Renae Holland does not even have a Facebook site. Strange. Just who is this women? I think this is a legitimate question," said Fasano.
Tim can forget about his chances of ever hooking up with Bigfoot Hunter Ranae. It's too bad because this will definitely blow away any chances he had with her.

Ms. Holland's own bio at the Animal Planet website states she graduated from a program at University of Washington; a very quick search of that department shows her credited for her assistance and photography in studies on salmon and grizzlies. In the raw Google search, her name also comes up as having received a safety medal from NOAA. Not a Nobel Prize, to be sure, but perfectly in keeping with the modest tracks left by a young scientist just starting her career. Took me longer to write this comment than to find the above info. And if we all need a Facebook page to qualify our existence, oh dear...

Indeed ! Not only is Ranae a hottie, she is brilliant, as well. I applaud her skepticism concerning "Bigfoot", and hope that she continues with her work on the TV show. Kudos, Dr. Holland.

Faasano was probably right. If the BFRO really does claim that she has a PhD, where is the evidence?? Her bio at Discovery.com makes no such claim, listing a mere BS from the U Washington. A BS is not anywhere close to a PhD and does NOT qualify one as a "biologist" any more than a BA in political science means that one is a political scientist. Get it? And she won a "safety medal" at NOAA? Are you kidding?
ReplyDeleteNo matter what Fasano says, she's definitely the weak link in the team. They'd do well to replace her with someone a little more openminded, I don't get the feeling she's that at all. Her obvious skepticism is so over the top it's suspect, she claims to have been interested in the subject since childhood yet she always seems to reject the idea of Sasquatch. Most people with a fascination for it tend to think it's actually there, not find cheap excuses for everything like what the team encounters. Even when it's clear the witness saw or filmed the real thing, it's still a backpacker to Ranae. LOL

DeleteIf the team would actually stay in the woods for several weeks instead of just a couple of days then maybe they would solve the mystery. And I'm not sure it's a good idea to hold a 'town meeting' because what are the odds that someone (one of the locals) would mess with the team while they're investigating?
I like the idea of sasquatch, and I do believe people could be seeing something. But the Finding Bigfoot team is after ratings, not answers.

ReplyDeleteWhen my grandma Claudette and me would go bigfoot searching, we would rely on peanut brittle to coax the fur buddies out. We never caught anything, but we heard things. And when me and my grandma would yip like coyotes, we would hear things, too. To me, that was proof enough of the yeti. We would eat the peanut brittle after, and it was good. Now, when I eat peanut brittle, I think of Ranae's work, and it is good. God bless you, BFRO for being a team of scientists motivated, with objectivity and impartiality, to find the truth.

Deletethousands of people around the world are in love with the story of bigfoot, a large ape-like creature. Fortunately, most people understand this story for what it is: a tall tale, a story of human imagination and creativity, which is always fantastic and wonderful. People throughout human history fantasize about creatures that capture our imagination. Because it is now the year 2013, people understand that these tales are simply just tales because of the accomplished scientists and civilians who study the natural world. Because of the observations of these people, we better understand the realities of the world. Obviously we all love stories but should remember that they are just that: stories that have no fact or evidence to support them. For example, there are several endangered species that have dwindled to an astonishingly low level yet are still supported and documented by scientific evidence. Just remember to use your intelligent human minds to remember that one should not believe anything without sufficient evidence. A creature as large as a bigfoot would most definitely be documented at this point. Forget this "bigfoots must bury each other in the ground" nonsense. There would certainly be some evidence at this point for such a loved and well sought after creature. If bigfoot truly exists, then he is much more intelligent than humans for evading our pursuits for so long and therefore contradicts its supposedly small population. It's always disappointing when adults mislead the general population knowing that they are either truly in the wrong or simply delusional. I encourage everyone to always research the facts before becoming consumed in a story. The wonder of human imagination and storytelling is really what people should focus on and should never be taken advantage of.
ReplyDeleteIn a way I agree with you. However, to keep an open mind one must pause to consider the plausability of something that could perhaps exist. What upends me is that the scientific community seems smug and arrogant to think that nothing but us (animals, mammals alike), are the only existing beings in this day and age of the earth. The same scientific community that discovers/rediscovers certain types of animals, fauna, sea life, after having calculated and or reasonably determined were extinct or didn't exist at all. Hell, with our technology the modern world barely discovered back in 2008 a tribe in the Amazon valley outside of Brazil. Science didn't know they existed, but until that was discovered, they did exist. I suppose what I'm trying to convey is that yes, I as well agree that one should do research on a topic, and research both sides of it. However, don't hang your conclusion based soley on scientific findings either.Science continually trumps itself by expounding on it's previous conclusion(s)with the idea that that answer is the be all end all of it's current findings.
DeleteRanae was hired to be the TEAM SKEPTIC. It is patterned after Silvanic Bigfoot's team. Silvanic brings in a noted authority with a PHD to be the skeptic, although the former skeptic is now a believer! Now they are searching for a well known journalist or PHD to be the new skeptic. Ranae is doing what she was hired to do, although I consider it stupid to tell people who have seen bigfoot that they are wrong about it. She has softened somewhat in her critiques of people face to face, which is good.

As far as Renae,I rally don't mind her skepticism, but she is easily too dismissive about any event, which brings me to question her objectivity and impartiality. I do agree with a past Anon post that she is the weak link of the show. What would make me a bit more convinced is having an actual primatologist (if one is willing to stake their reputation)to go on these tv expeditions and draw conclusions from gathered visual, audio, field samples, and of course eyewitness accounts to determine his or her opinion/conclusion. I feel Renae, though an expert in her field of discipline, is not the right individual for this. As a scientist, one needs hard evidence to gather a reasonable conclusion. Therefore, how come she does nothing of the sort to gather when perhaps evidence ( in the case where they found using infrared, some urine supposedly left by a subject )is presented? Just wondering....
