TYLER -- People who believe in the existence of Sasquatch and other unexplained mysteries can hear new research on the topics during the 2011 Texas Bigfoot Conference in Tyler.

The event is scheduled for Oct. 1 at Caldwell Auditorium, 301 S. College Ave.

The Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy, a nonprofit scientific research organization, is devoted to testing the hypothesis of a rare, unidentified primate residing in remote areas.

General admission is $25 with discounts available for students, educators and active military with proper identification.

Special tickets are available to attend an evening conference banquet at Discovery Science Center, 308 N. Broadway Ave., featuring entertainment from singer/songwriter Lenny Green and a special presentation from Dr. Ian Redmond, noted tropical field biology and conservationist.

Redmond was the protégé of the late zoologist Dian Fossey, and is expected to share his experiences in primate research and perspectives on Sasquatch research.

Dr. Jeff Meldrum, Idaho State University associate professor of Anatomy and Anthropology, author of Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, is expected to present evidence he's encountered in the field.

Chester Moore, Jr., Texas Field and Game executive editor and journalist, is expected to lecture on the Texas habitats and wildlife that reside in them.

Other speakers include biology professor Alton Higgins, author Lyle Blackburn, marketing director Brian Brown, University of Texas at San Antonio education specialist Willie Mendez and cartoonist Robert Swain.
