Dr. Jeff Meldrum Speaks At Annual Badger Club Meeting

Dr. Jeff Meldrum's recent lecture,  “Do Hidden Creatures Live in the Pacific Northwest?", was given to a sold out crowd of 130 people at the annual Columbia Basin Badger Club meeting. The following article features Dr. Meldrum at that event.

He estimated that Sasquatch might have a range of 1,000 square miles. Such beings, when reports are received around the globe, tend to live in areas with substantial rainfall annually, he said.

That means there could be 60 to 100 in Washington and 2,000 to 3,000 in all of North America. That’s enough for a sustainable population, he said.

The population of mountain gorillas in Africa dropped down to less than 200 and survived, he said.

It’s possible they have a social organization like the orangutan, in which the male patrols a large area. Evidence suggests they may forage individually. When evidence of multiple Sasquatch are found, they are usually a female and offspring, he said.

They are apparently long-lived — maybe living to 50 or 60 years old — and are at the top of their food chain. When they die, it would likely be a natural death, and they would secrete themselves away, he said.

  4. Range of a thousand square miles, maybe, they are nomadic. Still going with this ridiculous figure of 2 to 3 k when there are 3 times that many encounters every year at least. No one knows the population but it is over 50k and may approach one million, according to some people I am in touch with. The feeding is good and easy. He really needs to get in tune with what is happening in NA.but I understand his conservative approach.

  8. LOL, I never realized that Meldrum was this far out of touch with reality. 60 to 100 in all of Washington!?! That's ridiculous! I have called in 30 Bigfoot to one location when the range of my call blasting equipment was pretty pathetic. A better estimate is 2 Bigfoot per square mile of forest. That would peg Washington at around 50,000 Bigfoot, or more. When you have rejected the true paranormal existence of the Bigfoot people for this long, sooner or later it's going to bite you in the ass.

  9. I respect Dr. Meldrum for being open minded about the possibility that bigfoot may exist.
