Ketchum's Bigfoot DNA Study - Can Two Similar Species Procreate a new Unique Species?

Good old DNA, it is the building block of all that is living and breathing. The key to understanding what we are truly made of literally. As a species of hominid, humans have evolved to be one the most versatile species on this planet. Yet to become what we are today was actually not an easy walk in the park, this evolutionary speciation had to occur as our environment changed around us over the millions of years the human species has walked the earth. In our case we learned how to survive in our environment by being able to understand it and eventually thrive within it becoming the dominant species.

Has an unknown undiscovered hominid species, as Melba Ketchum is claiming, paralleled our evolution, watching us, living close to us, intermingling and mating with early human females and became the elusive hybrid species known today as the creature Bigfoot.

Now in Bigfoots case, because of the unintended release of certain DNA information from Melba Ketchum’s DNA study, which has already made officially claims that Bigfoot is a hybrid between humans and a another unknown species of hominid, it is intriguing to think that already many of the Bigfoot groups in this community are claiming victory and are sure that the findings will become facts in mainstreaming science very soon.

Yet is it truly possible for two similar species to procreate, produce offspring, then later, as in this case, the supposed Bigfoot species isolate itself from humans and diverge so much to become a new species in a span of only roughly 15,000 years like the Ketchum DNA study is claiming?

Darwin’s theories and views on evolution, in this case I am talking about Evolutionary biology, at the time were very advanced despite the field of genetics not existing. Darwin hypothesis that a new species could be created by one species separating in two species or the entire population of one particular species eventually through millions of years diverging and becoming a new one. Also we have to take in consideration natural selection, sexual speciation, reproductive isolation and possible mutations which can encompass and also cause reproductive isolation. Modern genetics has theorized also a progenitor of many new species, could be attributed to a species isolation and evolving those very selective mutations and create an entirely new species, similar, but no longer able to procreate offspring’s if copulation was to occur between a male and female of the closely related but diverged species. Now that being said, exactly where does Ketchum’s DNA theory fall? Scientists state and know we have been around a very long time and based on what Ketchum’s DNA study is claiming if it’s even correct, far longer than the Bigfoot species people supposedly are sighting today. 15,000 years is really not a very long time by what many scientists believe is needed for a species to become unique genetically, keeping in mind even if certain species are similar their DNA has changed and more than likely the two similar species are actually different, they just look similar in physical appearance. A difference in the two similar species genetic makeup by a few percentages could mean millions and millions of different proteins to create a new cell and eventually the organs to complete similar but genetically different organisms. So based on whatever factors that caused a new species to be created is just not as simple as two similar species being able to have sex to create hybrid offspring. (References from "Biology" by Campbell and Reece (8th edition)

The factor that many scientists agree upon is time, meaning millions of years and not thousands for a new species to be able to sustain its numbers and eventually become its own separate kind. So how is it possible that Ketchum’s DNA study can make claims that the supposed Bigfoot species is a hybrid of a human and other unknown hominid but relatively be a young new species in the grand scale of evolution? If what the Ketchum DNA study is claiming to be facts is true then Bigfoots are not truly the ancient ones as certain Bigfoot groups are calling them. (References from Schluter, D. Also it is curious that Melba Ketchum’s DNA research claimed time frame places the supposed species of Bigfoot origins at about the same time scientists believe the First Nations tribe’s ancestors also arrived in North America, which also is being debated by scientist. Yet many tribes like the Warm Springs, Yakima, Umatilla, and Nez Perce and their ancestors place the Bigfoot as a being which existed long before they arrived in North America even passing down folklore and leaving behind petroglyphs and pictographs which date back 10,000 years or older depicting images of strange Bigfoot like creatures. So will Melba Ketchum’s DNA study really prove Bigfoot is a hybrid… maybe? In the end we will have to wait for the secrecy to end and the players of this melodrama to be named and see if other scientists can truly confirm the findings. If the Ketchum Study has found an interchange between humans and another undiscovered hominid 15,000 years ago, it would truly be a monumental discovery.
