How To Make A Plaster Cast Of A Foot Print By SnowWalkerPrime
Let's face it, most of us have seen it done on television before, but we rarely ever see someone plaster cast a print from start to finish. In this video, SnowWalkerPrime starts off with the casting material and takes you through all the necessary steps to making a good cast of a foot print (with dermal ridges). He's even got a clever technique of doing this in the rain too.

ReplyDeleteI've only casted one, it came out alright 17 x 11 inches, but was in wet ditch with grass and not much mud and dermal ridges did not appear. They showed up real well on your cast SWP. The dermal ridges are a tell tale sign of a bigfoot track as they tend to run the length of the foot as opposed to across the foot in a human, and Dr. Jeff Meldrum and Jimmy Chilcutt are experts in this.

ReplyDeleteI have pretty much only cast in gravelly creek beds and in an area where the water could still soak in, so the plaster never did set up very well. Most recently I did not even have plaster on hand, all I could do was to drizzle melted red candle wax in. The effect was startling but the neighbourhood kids found the cast stored outside and they broke it up. But it set up really solid when it was done-this was in January and the gravel was frozen that time.
