Breaking: Dr. Melba Ketchum Makes A Statement Regarding The Proposed Media Project [The Ketchum Project]
This statement was just posted on Dr. Melba Ketchum's Facebook page. If you haven't "friended" her yet, we suggest that you become her best friend, otherwise, you can always come back here for the latest updates regarding what is possibly the greatest biological discovery of our time. It's either that, or she's just pulling our legs.
From Melba Ketchum via Facebook, Posted 7:42 PST
To address the recent hype and misstatements concerning my paper, please be advised that the information pulled off the US Copyright website for a 2010 preregistration for a proposed media project is not an accurate summary of our scientific testing and data and does not reflect the current conclusions of our scientific paper. The contemplated media project was never produced and no update was ever made to the short description on the preregistration statement. Instead of working on proposed media projects, we have been focusing our time and energy on our ongoing scientific testing and data which will be accurately summarized in the final version of our scientific paper. The final paper presenting our data, analysis and updated conclusions will be published in a peer reviewed scientific journal but we do not have a publication date at this time.

Description of Work: A film and/or documentary, narration or audio book, supporting photos and literary paper/document/book that will follow the The Sasquatch Project, the scientist and the scientific testing and proof for the existence of Sasquatch/ Bigfoot. Information will include discussion of results including A New Tribe of Living Humans, the complete Sasquatch mitochondrial genome sequence and nuclear DNA variations and text will show complete mitochondrial (mt) genome sequences were identified from DNA, analysis of the assembled sequence unequivocally establishes that the Sasquatch mtDNA falls inside the range of modern human mtDNAs and discussions of the origins thereof. The proof that the Sasquatch is not only the closest living human relative but is actually a contemporary living human. Also discussed is nuclear DNA testing performed on the same samples and the variations found in various genes including MC1R gene RUNX2 and FOXP2 as well as other targets genes involved in the perception of sound, transmission of nerve signals, the production of sperm and the lactase gene. Also discussed is how testing has ruled out ape cross and any ancient contributor and that Sasquatch is indeed a modern human with some genetic mutations accounting for their physical appearance. Also included are discussion of the history of samples and circumstances surrounding the acquisition, their testing, the circumstances surrounding the entire Sasquatch DNA Project. ReplyDeleteThis is what you should pay attention too.
Okay, so this proposed media project was filed by her in 2010? What does this say about her studies in 2011? Are they guided by some larger media concept? It sounds a bit Biscardi to me.
ReplyDeleteWell said
DeleteSo all the hype is nothing. She still has no date or time frame for her work to be published. She can't find a credible source to back her studies is what this sounds like.
ReplyDeleteI feel at the end of this year we will all be waiting still.
That Melba Ketchum That Melba Ketchum.....................
ReplyDeleteI don not like that Melba Ketchum.
"Would you like a final report on Bigfoot DNA?"....
ONLY IF THERE'S NO MORE DELAY!
I think she jests, I think she jests. I can feel a tightness in my chest!
Dr. Melba, a report is overdue, but you take too long with Peer Review!
I would like one on a Boat, or even with a happy goat, or on a plane or on a train or in a box with a Fox......I would like one here, or there.
I would like one NOW! ANYWHERE!
Thank You Thank You Bigfoot Fans! And yes!
I like GREEN EGGS AND HAM!
Legend (wait for it)............dary. one of the funniest posts I have read here. Bravo!
DeleteFunny stuff!!!
Delete@Anonymous LOL! Great one. But I do not like Green Eggs an Ham, Sam-I-Am.
ReplyDeleteIn other words... NOTHING has been proven yet, but the hype and premature conclusions continue.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous Seuss, You should have signed a name to that wonderful creation.
ReplyDeleteOK someone explain, I did not understand her to say NOTHING had been proven yet.
Yep Loved it,Anonymous Seuss. I can't even remember what I read about Dr.Melba after that. I shall go read the delightful prose again.
I don't believe in bigfoot because there's not enough evidence to support the claim. Yeah, I'm repeating myself, mostly for the newbies.
ReplyDeleteRecently, I read Enoch: A Bigfoot Story. To more thoroughly enjoy the story, I suspended disbelief and read the whole thing in one sitting. I then read it again, more slowly this time.
**ATTENTION! SPOILERS!**
I was annoyed at the way she turned skeptics and anyone else who disagreed with her into straw men. It pissed me off. I also hated how she tried to make you feel guilty for not believing her, which in the final analysis, I don't. Either she or Mikey is telling one hell of a whopper.
However, I have to admit it was a really good read. It should be classified as fiction, but, damn. I was surprised at how incredibly good it was.
Also, Autumn Williams needs to get an award for BEST COP-OUT EVER for not providing evidence. Why aren't we getting evidence? Because it's bad for the Skunk Ape in question and more importantly, his entire species. Proof of bigfoot will spell the beginning of the end for the species.
Looking at Homo sapiens' track record, she does have a point. We've destroyed pretty much everything we've put our hands on. If, say, there was a relict species of hairy humans living on the planet, how do you suppose they would fare if humans knew they were out there somewhere? We Americans wiped out the natives and enslaved Africans. Watching some of the losers running for president, I think a few of them would be OK going back to that.
Do you think we've matured enough to interact maturely with a wild human species? I don't. Good thing they don't exist. It's an extremely good thing they don't exist.
"You do with Mogwai what your society has done with all of nature's gifts. You do not understand. You are not ready. Perhaps someday, you may be ready. Until then, Mogwai will be waiting."
I really hope someone finds a living bigfoot before this paper gets released. Then all this waiting shes making us do would be worthless. LMAO!!
ReplyDeleteI just realized why it's been so nice around here lately!
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely something going down, i don't think its negative, no one knows and it sucks we have to wait. I for 1 will keep positive about the whole thing and if its a load of bull, then all of us involved in field research, need to try harder go out longer until someone cracks it. If it is discovered and becomes classified a lot of people will be bored out of their minds as I'm sure the skeptical scientists will take over and shun the people who really made this happen over the decades.
ReplyDeleteWow, just woken up to all of this. Lots to take in. Sure as I am about Bigfoot, I'm not 100% sure of Dr Ketchum.
ReplyDeleteI dont believe that bigfoot dna is so close to human as to be indistinguisable, but i know nothing of dna thats one for my wife (genetic scientist). Only time will tell I guess.
Shaun, uk.
@Atheist, please leave your political views out of this. There are plenty of communist/socialist blogs u can post on--oops! Did I just say that? BTW, Bigfoot is REAL....and he's a REPUBLICAN!! LOL. Just having fun with you, Atheist! God bless you, my friend! Oops, I did it again!!
ReplyDeleteAll of this will turn out to be BS! People never learn and PT Barnum was 100% correct. I just hope we do not have to go through months of people whining, like we did after the whole GA fiasco. Listened to John Mionczynski interview on MNBRT Radio the other night (what a great guy who actually uses his common sense) and he basically said the whole Sierra Kills story was a load of BS. He and Dr Meldrum wasted their time going to the "site" to find absolutely no evidence, yet some still swear it happened. Are people just absolutely bat shit crazy or con-artists? It gives the whole field the laughable effect when evidence points to stories being false and people still blindly go along. I still believe, after all these years, that sasquatch still exists, but with all this crap day after day, I am scared that one day my belief will end. I just hope I don't turn into someone with a negative outlook on the whole subject.
ReplyDeleteYeah that wont ever happen.....(that was sarcasm)
DeleteLEGS
ReplyDeleteUnbelievabe. So, effectively Ketchum is pimping a film. Does anyone actually think anyone will buy the fact that a massive, hairy, non fire / tool using, human "tribe" which is pretty much genetically indistinguishable from modern humans - is living in the American wildnerness? I wonder if any DNA evidence was rejected from her study for being "unknown primate"? Now thats irony!
ReplyDeleteI think we all ought to ingore her. Then either the pudding WILL come out OR she'll just go away...
ReplyDeleteAnyone else here a published scientist? I am, and I interpret this comment:
ReplyDelete"The final paper presenting our data, analysis and updated conclusions will be published in a peer reviewed scientific journal but we do not have a publication date at this time."
....as meaning they have received notice of acceptance. But not a publication date, yet.
This is what I'm referring to in my first comment
Delete'IF' they have conclusive proof, then that's a huge, huge story. Surely one which any publication would want to get out as soon as possible?
ReplyDeleteWhich makes me question why there's no publication date.
Shaun, UK
The reason Melba's "DNA testing" is showing only modern human genes:
ReplyDeleteShe is setting things up so as to be able to claim inadvertent human contamination when her fraud is eventually exposed.
There are other portions of her DNA samples that will eventually be tested by other scientists. Those samples will be shown to be from known animals or from regular Homo sapiens donors ... and it will all start looking very suspicious. And when there's no other explanation but fraud, she'll come forward to admit that "mistakes may have been made" (i.e. "accidental" human contamination) during her DNA testing. Of course, that will be after many hundreds of thousands of dollars will have been routed to her.
If she does not set up that faux mistake right now, then she could be possibly charged and arrested for fraud later, or at least sued by her sponsors.
Melba is a female con artist. She's going to use this book/film project to attract more optimistic backers for this DNA project -- the goal being a scientific journal article that will never make it through any scientific peer review ... because its a scam.
Outside your anon post what is your proof that she is a con artist?
DeleteYou could a piece of shit scum or a Tom Biscardi or or anyone of the TBRC ,
Again what proof do you have?
Whoa, guys. Relax, will ya. lol I just can not believe the bullshit I'm reading here, and I am referring to virtually all comments so far. Now that the noose it tightening on that ancient and redundant ape theory, and everything points to Sasquatches being human, people here start acting crazy. Stop it, people. Just stop it. Stop acting crazy, for pete's sake. lol If we start behaving like a bunch of monkeys with their knickers in a twitch, how do you think the general public will act when they hear of this new hairy cousin? Calm down. Jesus H. Christ, what a group of whiners and cowards. Do you want to know the truth about it, or don't you? Pull yourselves together, ok. This is it, as they say. This is really it. Ask yourself, what the (bleep) would they be other than a people, cunning us for so long, even having a language, etc. Brace yourselves now, this DNA is a corker.
ReplyDeleteNo reason to blaspheme the Lords name.
DeleteJust more dodging from all these folks...trying to keep everything under wraps until it gets closer. Do you really think they paid for the copyright filing and have worked on it for about 2 years for nothing to come out? I don't think so.. I just wish they come on with it. Be ready for more of the denial post from the people who are and have been working on this whole project.
ReplyDeleteThanks
I feel we should all relax a bit and let the process proceed, hopefully to a successful conclusion. It has been a long time in the making and Dr. Ketchum has undertaken a tremendous project that no one else would do. I doubt that trying to prove the existence of a new recognized creature without a body has never been done before, making it all the more exacting, and one had better have everything in place.
ReplyDeleteI think that the deviation from Dr. Ketchum's proposed 2010 project is due to the new and numerous samples she has received, and her original supposition of it being human with a few genetic mutations has been replace by it being not human, but instead some type of homo hominid. Thus the paper and project is needed to go in a different direction. I have very recently that her paper has been accepted, and is only waiting for a publishing date. We will see.
This is my opinion.
Chuck
LOl Okay this is wild, the responses....
ReplyDeleteBut, the comments from molecular bio guy on previous thread very clear and I ask he/she email Shawn with a guest post....because understanding the significance of DNA test choices etc is meaningful now and not controversial..and will save us some pain when this is published.
I am confident it will be, by hook or crook? What does that even mean?
I have followed this since the Larry Jenkins submission in July 2009 as closely as an outsider can. I know some of the partipants through correspondance, and I have personal data that matches much of what I see reported...so, it IS something. But, given my internet view and personal experience talking to skeptics and even those within the field who have different opinions tells me this is only a beginning of Proof. Rife with all the debate any such claim would expect and more.
Importantly, my concern like many, that this debate shall sidetrack the real issue of understanding Bfs and our place here together with everyone "beleiving."
How will the balance (I think now it might be a type of snergy)be altered? Will we respond immediately? Outlawing "Finding Bigfoot" activites as poor Anthropology? Will guys like Smeja be prosecuted even with claims of self defense (who was retreating in that one?)? Are they a National Treasure or a Nusiance? Depends if you are a rancher or not I suppose....and so on.
How do we address policy? Not without more understanding I should think. So DNA says a lot, but not nearly enough. We need field Anthropologists.
not in mood to edit..and wireless wacky thanks for opportunity and wading thru typos!
I think the fact that someone had to go digging to find this information should suggest something. It was not meant to be publicized, otherwise Melba would have done it already.
ReplyDeleteWheellug
Not as much digging as one would hope actually. The Sierra Kills story was "broken" by witnesses or participants and the shooter eager to post and talk up until a week ago I beleive. The Erickson Project fall out with Ketchum sounds like a "leak" in that broke on a blog with reputed 'sources." All of it seems tied to gether. An early participant in the DNA analysis revealed mtDNA results for that potion he had control over, that is a public website. Other early participants who split also posted info, notably Biscardi in the summer of 2009. Larry Surface has publically posted his sample contribution, as have JC Johnson, paulides (internet and webcats), and OP of corse and a few others. Dr, Ketchum went on webradio, was it Coast to Coast and made her intital study claims. Matt Moneymaker apparently wrote nature and published the response in a comment online. Daily patent and copyright trolls of Public Records are a known hazard in IP, can't speak to that odd release....
ReplyDeleteso the only digging here? Someone, perhaps it is Robert Lindsay, put the pieces together and reported it. And it is a big story, one none of us can stay away from, and we will all have opinions in the future, based on the Actual Data...novel thought!
Anonymous, Once a paper has been accepted ( ie through the peer review process and any reviewer required revisions are either addressed or rebutted ), the authors often have an idea of when the actual publication date will be Once it is accepted though, and prior to the actual publication, the paper is usually published online in an E version through pubmed or another database prior to the actual publication date of the print version . This may differ across fields somewhat , but this is how it works for publications of a biomedical nature , and also for many science related journals .
ReplyDeleteBS you are just dragging you feet because you got nothing.
DeletePredictions about Dr. Melba Toast? Fraud!
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun watching these gullible believers being strung along like puppets by this con-artist. You can't fix stupid.
ReplyDeleteKetchum looks more and more like hype and money grubbing.
