Bigfoot Migration - The Underground Cave System

From the Bigfoot Diaries:

Sasquatch Migration in Washington State? Sasquatch sightings and encounters have been occurring in and around the caves of Washington State. These extensive caves and underground tunnel systems were caused by volcanic eruptions and lava flows which occurred thousands of years ago. The hundreds of cave systems in Washington differ greatly between the western and eastern regions of the state. The western half of the state is very wet and covered in thick lush forest while the eastern side of the state is a dryer, more arid climate.Some theories suggest that the Sasquatch may migrate west to east during the fall and early Winter. The numerous underground and above ground cave systems could be a way for the Sasquatch to migrate unnoticed. The eastern side of the state is too warm for the Sasquatch during the summer. The dense cool forests that cover the western side of the state provide an optimal environment for the Sasquatch to thrive during the spring, summer and fall.

  2. Wow - just got done reading the comments made earlier today. That was quite an exchange! I do have a question for lktomi that perhaps he can shed some light on. He states:

    "1) In an unnumbered chapter after Chapter 27, entitled “Postscript,” Sykes details an intriguing finding from a hair sample from Dr. Henner Fahrenbach. It had a result that Sykes is still pondering, and we may hear about in the future. The DNA sample of a “Sasquatch” from Walla Walla matched that of a feral “individual from Uzbekistan,” Sykes exclaims (page 282).

    Was this DNA sample that Fahenbach sent to him before or after the study? What was this feral individual he speaks of??? I suppose I will have to just order the book and read all this for myself to get the full meaning.

    I have some serious doubts about Fahrenbach because of a lecture he gave at a Texas Bigfoot Conference.

    This does not inspire confidence in anything this man has put forth.

      ... Your concerns about Fahrenbach's presentation were addressed only a couple of weeks ago in the above link and didn't really stand up to scrutiny in my eyes. And yes, the test was made after the airing of Bigfoot Files and the sequencing of 30 alleged Bigfoot samples.

      As for the anon who suggested Freeman can't be trusted, pair that with the track impressions he sourced that have been endorsed by a long line of professionals to have the authentic friction marks of primate skin; that's profound.

      And to F-AC who likes to think he has an audience. Now anyone can do this for themselves, but I understand that nobody is going to bother considering he is a full time troll and the court jester of BFE. But... If you type in any of his "information" into google search, you'll realise that not one word of his can be substantiated with facts and not one bit of the made up stuff he's written can be attributed to anything we know about this feral individual from Uzbekistan. Apart from the statement Sykes made regarding the feral individual in his book. There is as of yet nothing more forthcoming. This is how desperate he is to aggravate people.

    8. The following memorandum is in regards to the June 17, 1982 alleged Bigfoot encounter by Paul Freeman.
      UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT MEMORANDUM

      To: Mr. Wayne Long Date: July 28, 1982 District Supervisor Walla Walla District U.S. Forest Service

      From: Joel Hardin U.S. Border Patrol Bellingham, Washington

      In regards to the "Bigfoot" sign or tracks you requested my assistance in examining on June 17.

      My opinion is that the tracks were a very clever attempt to perpetrate a hoax, involving your office or agency, in order to lend credibility to the general public.

      I base my opinion on the following conclusions after the "on sight" examination on June 17. First of all, because of the exclusion of general public traffic in this area, i. e., hiking, camping,fishing - the observation and readability of human sign is excellent.

      The tracks that were examined, in two separate locations some distance apart, were identical in appearance, size, and individual characteristics, therefore conclude to have been made by the same "Bigfoot". You have pictures, casts, and measurements to compare these and I will not do so herein.

      Now to the problem of who or what made the tracks. I believe they were man made by using some type of soft plaster or rubber coated foot. The tracks I examined: (1)when in soft mud failed to push down to solid matter, even in the pressure areas of the foot, the heel and ball of the foot; (2)were straight "in line" and did not show a natural swing along an irregular trail; (3)had an exact stride both uphill and downhill on an irregular trail; (4)showed exactly the same weight and body angle pressure, on heel and ball of foot uphill and downhill; (5)on hard surfaced areas or debris covered areas of the trail were ground into or squirmed into the surface in order to be readily visible; (6)finally, in both directions, the tracks appeared and disappeared on the trail with no sign leading to or away from the area.

      Who made the tracks - my opinion, someone with normal access to the area, very knowledgeable and interested in "Bigfoot" legends and stories; a person large enough to implant the track device sufficient to make the sign described and of which you have the evidence.

      Trusting that this memo will suffice to close this "Bigfoot" case. It was a pleasure and a privilege in investigate "Bigfoot" sign in your area. Please let me know if you require such services in the future.

    9. Joel Hardin, a former United States Government Border Patrol inspector & professional mantracking expert, and Rod Johnson, a biologist and animal tracker, assessed the 1982 tracks on location and "determined" they were a hoax. There is no question in my mind that Joel Hardin was and still is a very exceptional tracking expert (some of the cases he's busted are a fascinating read), but he clearly had only marginal skills where "Bigfoot" tracks were concerned. Furthermore, it is acknowledged by the likes of Jeff Meldrum that such a conclusion was grossly preconceiving, as the tracks were apparently dismissed as a hoax even before they were seen. This was first found to be the case by Grover Krantz when such a conclusion was initially drawn in 1982;
      "(Hardin) judged them to be fakes. In fact he made this pronouncement before he even looked at the tracks according to three Forest Service employees who told me of overhearing this."
      ... The list of points that were meant to condemn the track impressions where in fact a major indicator that they were consistent with other recognised "Bigfoot" tracks, and actually worked in favour of them being authentic... Krantz dissected each point made my Hardin in one of his books;

      1. "STRIDE LENGTH DID NOT CHANGE WITH SLOPE"
      If fake feet were being worn, as implied elsewhere in the report, the stride certainly should have changed as the man walked up and down the slope. Only an incredibly strong creature would be able to maintain the same stride.
      2. "TRACKS DID NOT BOTTOM-OUT IN THE MUD, AND THOSE OF THE INVESTIGATORS SANK DEEPER"
      This implies a man wearing fake feet, thus not sinking in so far, but it contradicts the finding on the road, six days before, where great weight was indicated. Possibly the moisture content of the ground had increased after the big tracks were made, as this was a swamp like location.

      Delete
    10. (NOTE FROM IKTOMI - If a normal human was using fake stompers, which was repeatedly implied, and if the soil was as easily impressed upon at the time they were made, they would be as deep as Hardin's at the time of his investigation, indicating a different soil moisture content. I therefore struggle to understand how someone with Hardin's credentials could not have taken this glaringly obvious fact into account. By this I am more convinced that his ideas may have been a little preconceived and less impartial than what would have been appreciated. Why would someone of Hardin's expertise do such a thing? Well, it can't be good for an expert tracker's self esteem if a 7-8 foot bipedal primate has eluded his detection for over four decades. Some of the world's best trackers, Native Americans, had reclined to the fact a very, very long time ago. You're in good company, Hardin.)

      3. "THE TRACK SERIES WAS ISOLATED AND WITH A CLEAR BEGINNING AND END, QUITE UNLIKE BEAR TRACKS"
      Without the proper type of dirt, Sasquatch tracks would be harder to follow than bear tracks because they leave no claw marks. It is also possible that the Sasquatch is quite aware of leaving footprints, and plants some of them quite conspicuously as a territory marker.
      4. ""TOE-PRINT" MARKINGS WERE CLEAR WHERE THEY SHOULD BE WORN SMOOTH"
      As noted before, the fingerprint experts found this condition was exactly as it should be.
      5. "AT ONE TRACK, LITTER HAD BEEN SCRAPED AWAY FROM WHERE THE PRINT WAS FOUND"
      Forest litter disappears remarkably well inside a footprint when it is stepped on with great weight, as I have observed in my own footprints. The surrounding area was cleared by those who first found the tracks to better examine the ground surface of the track itself.
      6. "SMALL TOES DID NOT IMPRESS DEEPLY AS IN GRIPPING THE GROUND"
      Sasquatches do this only on steeper slopes.
      7. "NO SIGN OF HEEL OR TOE SLIPPAGE ON STEEP GRADES"
      I would expect little or none considering the deep imprints that were being made.
      8a. "IN SEVERAL PLACES THE FOOT APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN ROCKED TO EACH SIDE TO IMPRESS IT"
      The source of the comment is unclear. If this refers to the footprint with the stone inside it, any possibility of rocking has been specifically ruled out.
      8b. "THE TOES ON SOME TRACKS WERE WIDER THAN ON OTHERS"
      This actually confirms that it was a living foot, and not a fake structure.
      8c. ""PRINT" MARKS EXTEND UP THE SIDE OF THE FOOT"
      This is a normal bipedal trait as may be seen looking at your own foot, and contrasts with what is seen on the hand. Most people are unaware of this fact (obviously), and a fake track would probably not have been marked so far up the side.
      8d. "INSTEP WAS COMPRESSED MORE THAN IT SHOULD BE"
      The meaning of this is unclear, but it may mean that the foot was flat, as is well known.

    11. And then you have the matter of the numerous experts who have verified dermatoglyphics within the casts to be authentic;
      "Krantz (1983: 71-72) writes: "Thus far, every specialist who has examined these casts [Mill Creek] agrees that their detailed anatomy has all the characteristics and appearance of being derived from an imprint of primate skin. These include thirty police fingerprint workers, ... six physical anthropologists ... four pathologists and two zoologists."

    12. Quite busy today but checked in to see if there was any responses and amused to see that I had responded with a memorandum is in regards to the June 17, 1982 alleged Bigfoot encounter by Paul Freeman. It certainly was interesting except it wasn't from THIS Curious. For the record THIS Curious does not take much stock in anything having to do with Paul Freeman and apparently neither do some others:

      http://www.bigfootencounters.com/articles/dennett03.htm

      I'm simply going to have to get Dr. Sykes book and read for myself his conclusions. He has another out. He has another book out called Bigfoot, Yeti, and the Last Neanderthal which may prove even more interesting. Thanks to all who responded - even the other Curious - LOL.

    13. Mr Curious...

      Considering you very regularly acknowledge the feuding and lack of co-operation between proponents in this field, the fact that some people found Freeman to be disagreeable shouldn't be too much of a surprise to you... And you should probably bear that in mind. However, it's science I'm preoccupied with, and if it stands up then the naysayers can spin.

      Also, let me know how that book reads. Been meaning to get it myself.
