The Chattering Sasquatch

A hunter has an encounter with a sasquatch in British Columbia. He says the bigfoot creature was chattering to itself, sort of like a bear does when angry.

    4. Debating a denialist is akin to a biology evolutionist debating a a flat earther. The denialist will focus on his own unsubstantiated belief and be unable to digest any counter argument (however substantiated with reliable data). This serves as an essential level of self-worth and belonging to a theory group that can provide some sense of community, whilst it also avoids the awkward reality of countering information that is without countering data. If there wasn't such thing as "Bigfoot" and there wasn't even cause for all the effort; they wouldn't be here... Would they? My analogy would fit too... Their theory group is a quasi-religion based around cognitive biases, and for all their faith that they practice the scientific method; they actually stand against it.

"Cognitive Biases are systematic errors that predispose one's thinking in favor of a certain viewpoint over other viewpoints. The scientific method developed, among other reasons, to counteract these biases in order to derive objective knowledge."

    6. Tell us that billi ape story dmaker swatted down yesterday.

      Delete
    7. Argh yes!! A man sized primate... Reported to exist by indigenous peoples for the past few decades... That was largely ignored by western scientists... Only to be discovered in the late 1990's when these scientists eventually made a consorted effort...

I sure got "swatted" with that one alright!

      Delete
    8. Can you tell us about how the scientist established it was real by using the dna of a hair. Please tell us that one.

      Delete
    9. That's actually unnecessary... DNA is always extracted from newly discovered primates, notably the hair. Would you like a ten year old's guide to zoology to clarify that?

      Delete
    10. I'm not bringing that back up because dMaker won that argument

      Delete
    11. Actually, I'm more than happy to bring up the fact that Sasquatch, an unclassified primate, has the same frequency of evidence as that of classified primates that are studied in their habitat.

      Why wouldn't I?

      : )

      Delete
    12. I don't because there's no verified scientific proof of Sasquatch, I've said so myself, stupid hack scientists

      Delete
    13. Actually... I applaud scientists. They've managed to scientifically verify the evidence I can reference. Evidence of a creature who shares the exact same anatomy as what is being widely reported in "Sasquatch".

    15. Argh of course! For thousands of years, there has been a culture hopping secret society of gorilla suit wearing conspirators all mucking around in the woods. These people, though finding each others cultural customs undesirable, and spanning from a time when they didn't even know what a non-human primate looked like, have in fact managed to cheat experts with fake biological species traits that span decades and States, in lottery win fashion too!

    16. So you deny a multi billion pound industry for fans of fiction exists because your friends arent interested in bigfoot?

    17. You should see me on Harry Potter sites

      Delete
    18. Nope! There opinion has no bearing on what I think, because like you they haven't familiarised themselves with the facts. It doesn't look good on you that you should continue to deny when you've got evidence rammed down your throats every day of your life.

Argh right! For thousands of years, there has been a culture hopping secret society of gorilla suit wearing conspirators all out to contribute to a "multi billion pound industry" for fiction fans. These people, though finding each others cultural customs undesirable, and spanning from a time when they didn't even know what a non-human primate looked like, have in fact managed to cheat experts with fake biological species traits that span decades and States, in lottery win fashion too!

    24. "Sasquatch, an unclassified primate, has the same frequency of evidence as that of classified primates that are studied in their habitat."

Okay, let's go with that. With all of the ponderous evidence claimed why is there not a concerted effort by the mainstream scientific community to seek out the Sasquatch? The answer to me is simple - it's the Bigfoot advocates themselves. Let me explain.

When citing evidence a few experts in their fields are always mentioned as professionals who support the existence of Sasquatch and back it with their findings. If the evidence they support is that good, why do they not individually or together submit a paper to a recognized scientific paper proving such? Why do they all not get together hold a press conference and explain to the world that they have strong evidence and that mainstream science is ignoring them? I'm sure informed of such news the public would react and demand that it be thoroughly investigated. But here's the other side of the coin. After years have passed since the PG film and countless hoaxes and weak attempts such as the Melba Ketchum fiasco, the general public now considers it (rightfully) as a myth. Adding to this disbelief is EIGHT seasons of the woefully named Finding Bigfoot show producing nothing of value. This show has the best opportunity to convince the public that there was truly merit to these claims but it has reduced the subject to a endless joke. On top of this we read constantly right here of the most wildest of claims. The one I distinctly remember is Khat Hansen making a claim of Bigfoot skulls. When I inquired about it I was summarily dismissed by her. Now I'm sure everyone realizes that if we have a skull that can be examined then the wheels of investigative science would surely start moving which is exactly what happened with the Bili ape and I quote from Wikipedia:

" When Karl Ammann, a Swiss photographer and anti-bushmeat campaigner, first visited the region in 1996, he was looking for gorillas, but instead discovered a skull that had dimensions like that of a chimpanzee, but with a prominent crest like that of a gorilla."

All these amateur researchers seem to rather dismiss each other's evidence than to join together and collaborate each other's findings. Why should mainstream science recognize them and their evidence when they can't even agree among themselves? If they fail to get official recognition then the Bigfoot advocates have not the skeptics who ask the questions to blame but merely themselves.

I'm absolutely convinced that Bigfoot is not a zoological mystery but a social and psychological one. Bring us a skull (apparently someone supposedly knows where one or two are) and I will gladly recant my statements.

    25. If it's "woo science", you'll have no issue finding at least one "decent scientific" argument against it then?

    32. At times I do see parallels with belief in Bigfoot and religion. Both have beliefs in the existence of something that science cannot verify. Both claim evidence that science does not accept. Both claim eyewitness accounts (Jesus, Allah or God of your choice appearing before them). Both have a multitude of adherents who believe in the same basic principle (existence) but differ greatly on many points of interpretation. Both hold a belief that will not be changed no matter how strong the argument against it.

Is this idea absolutely solid? No - but it certainly is interesting and makes one think. I would be curious as to how many have a strong belief in Bigfoot and are religious as well.

      Delete
    33. Curious, I kind of foreseen what you were looking to post last night. I like to think I have a decent idea of your mindset these days and what I posted last night kind of explained this on a couple of levels.

I believe that the reason these advocates don't get together and submit a paper on the existing evidence, is more than likely that the current state of accumulative evidence falls short of the requirement of extraordinary evidence, for an extraordinary idea. For example... The track castings that were used to track the Bili Ape for a whole year required no DNA for classification before hand. Yes, Bili Ape tracks just look like that of a very large chimp, but the track impressions of a Sasquatch look like that of a very large human; both are primates, but one has far greater repercussions for scientific history than the other. Even though you don’t have a means of classifying what that bipedal primate is, the objective outcome is you still have the anatomical impression of an unclassified bipedal primate that can easily be falsifiably tested to scientific standards. However, as I mentioned previously, it is the extraordinary nature of what this evidence entails that is in fact what's holding back the requirement of subsequent mainstream investigative measures. It means that until extraordinary evidence surfaces (a body), the subject isn't going to draw the attention of a majority of mainstream scientists who would only then be in a position to become aware of the many evidences that preceded it. Without this, few will see beyond the hoaxing and pop culture. It's a very detrimental circle that can be simplified as the requirement of extraordinary evidence without the extraordinary effort it would require to source it. The cart before the horse. Another important thing to note, is that when mainstream scientists are interested in studying the topic, unless they are already established then they have careers and credibility to look out for.

The general public which accounts for people in all professions (including mainstream scientists), have "flag ships" like Finding Bigfoot as the main mainstream output, which would make anyone remotely intelligent cynical. I'm not ignorant enough to think I talk on behalf of anyone. But unfortunately, the majority of people who believe in the existence of this creature watch that show, and it's no coincidence that they have their knowledge of the evidence for this subject embodied in that programme. Hoaxes always get massive publicity and when people are already suspicious of the credibility of the subject, they'll settle very quickly for an uncountered "debunking" due to the "extraordinary" nature of what's being proposed. However, should these people listen to the actual experts' counter opinions to these shoddy "debunkings", they'll realise very quickly that the evidence is reliable by consistent scientific standards. The problem is the only people who realise this are those willing to put in the time to look at it. A prime example of this is the stuff on dermals. So many "sceptics" claiming they rest on the high standards of scientific absolutes, yet they are happy to lessen these standards and rest on what someone grossly unqualified puts forth rather than listening to what the actual experts say.

This is probably the most agreeable thing I've read from you, however, contrary to what you would prefer people believe has been verified... Maintaining that a phenomena that sports scientific supporting data is merely the product of faith, without presenting a single equivalent piece of countering scientific data, is pretty audacious. It means that you rest on the aspect of FAITH that such data isn't authentic and is as belief based and religious like as you can ever point to. It simply comes down to the fact that to suggest that thousands of years of cultural and contemporary reports that are supported by physical evidence are the result of hoaxes and misidentification, is a bigger leap of faith than anything you can reference.

  7. 7:20 - but you`ve no actual evidence of that have you.No verified or accepted evidence of that and all you have to "prove" your belief is something you`ve read or seen on youtube;you`ve never been into the woods yourself or even met anybody who has - and so your belief is akin to the belief of a child looking forwards to the coming morning after the tooth fairy has visited.

    Oh no - Schooled again.

    8. If the ridge characteristics in dermatoglyphics are consistent with other examples from Sasquatch footprints, are verified in collaboration with tens of scientists who have determined anatomy like heels, ankles, and Achilles' tendons... And are consistent with casts over a period of 50 years (after examining hundreds of alleged Sasquatch footprints), then this is repeatable scientific evidence. There are ways of testing biological evidence in the many hair samples found at locations of alleged Sasquatch activity, notably primatology and field biology in comparing against known primates' uniform morphology. If repeated samples are all morphologically congruent (ruling out hoaxing), and are definitively indistinguishable from classified human and non-human primates but uniquely uniform... Then again you have repeatable scientific evidence.
