Ron Morehead Bigfoot Sounds Presentation International Bigfoot Conference

From Sasquatch Chronicles:

I apologize to my audience, some of the speakers do not want their presentations put out to the public while others do not mind. As a general rule, we were asked not to film the presentations just the speakers. Ron Morehead shares with everyone his experiences and the sounds he captured.

  2. There wasn't any proof at this convention, which makes sense that Matt would post something from there.

    1. I talked to 2 people who ran the convention by email, and asked who has evidence at this event??
Evidence will be presented they said! I said, by who, name the researcher! Yeah, yawn....do i said well, email me the evidence after the event then.....YAWN...If there was any, they would be throwing it in my face.

    2. Don't the Sierra Sounds constitute evidence?

    3. Why would they be throwing it in your face? Do you think anyone cares how you regard their work or needs your approval? They don't even know you exist.

If you did ever show up at something like this and start mouthing off like you do here you would get your nose broken.

    4. 6:00, Doctor Craptard is right, there was nothing presented at that conference of buffoons. Sierra Sounds is the most ludicrous piece of "evidence" ever put forward by dingbat footers.

    5. CONCLUSION REACHED BY DR. KIRLIN AND LASSE HERTEL ON THE SIERRA SOUNDS
The results indicate more than one speaker, one or more of which is of larger physical size than an average human adult male. The formant frequencies found were clearly lower than for human data, and their distribution does not indicate that they were a product of human vocalizations and tape speed alteration.

    7. You forgot to add:

"It is hoped that the remaining uncertainties will not be considered reason for dismissing the recordings. The possibilities for prerecording are many, but there is no clear reason to believe it is likely."

Hardly a conclusive finding. Also noteworthy:

"The authors of this paper are neither linguists, anthropologists, nor speech pathologists."

I guess you're still not reading your sources closely, are you? But hey, at least I got you up at 3:00 AM!

    8. In his 1992 book "Big Footprints: A Scientific Inquiry Into the Reality of Sasquatch" (Johnson Books, 1992), physical anthropologist Grover Krantz discussed his experience with Bigfoot recordings: "One ... tape was analyzed by some university sound specialists who determined that a human voice could not have made them; they required a much longer vocal tract. A Sasquatch investigator later asked one of these experts if a human could imitate the sound characteristics by simply cupping his hands around his mouth. The answer was yes." As for other such recordings, Krantz "listened to at least ten such tapes and find[s] no compelling reason to believe that any of them are what the recorders claimed them to be."

      Delete
    9. Now, now... Let's put that extract up top into proper context...

"Although a time-varying speed could possibly produce such formant distributions, an objective hearing and the articulation rate do not support that hypothesis. Statistical analysis was applied to groups of vocal tract estimates from different vocalizations and a significant difference was found between the groups. When compared with human data the results indicated that there could possibly be three speakers, one of which is non-human. The average vocal tract length was found to be 20.2 cm. This is significantly longer than for a normal human male. Extrapolation of average estimators, using human proportions, gives height estimates of between 6’4” and 8’2”. Analysis of the rapid articulations in the beginning of the recording (gob-gob) resulted in human-like vocal tract lengths. Also, the sound /g/ in “gob” suggests a human-like vocal tract (two vocal cavities).

The pitch periods found cover the broad range of pitch periods for both normal human male and low-pitched human male. However, they are mainly distributed around the data for the low-pitched human male. Pitch and length estimates vary considerably but they are all found to be within the 95 per cent confidence interval for human speech with varying tape speed; however, assuming that there is only one vocalizer, then time-varying tape speed is necessary to produce data over such a wide range. Both typical human whistles and some abnormal types of whistles were found. By using the formants from the abnormal whistles, very short vocal tract lengths were estimated. These whistles could either have been produced with some kind of a musical instrument or by the creature using only a part of its vocal tract.

      It is hoped... "

... Now... So you see, there are a number of uncertainties in the readily accessible data, but not with all of it. I wonder what other primate has the ability to achieve frequencies both above and below that of normal human-primate capabilities? Oh... And the credentials of the people who presented this evidence are mere facts. And (cough, cough)... You don't have to be a linguists, anthropologists, or speech pathologist to analyse tape speeds, recordings and audio frequencies.

    10. Argh yes!! Grover's take on the matter was cynical at best, bless him. You see, his came into conflict with his ideas about giganto... As did the theories of most over the decades. I wonder if you could achieve frequencies both above and below human capabilities by cupping your hands? Ha ha ha!!

    11. I see the words "could possibly be," height estimates beginning at 6' 4", and that whistles "could have been produced with some kind of musical instrument." Please try to read the crap you copy and paste!

I'm no fan of Krantz, but if even he (who accepted all manner of ridiculous evidence) rejected it as absurd, then that is really saying something.

It's also noteworthy that Moorehead (who believes in a portal hopping Bigfoot) has made a living off selling the recordings to yokels like Joerg and appearing at Bigfoot conferences such as the one cited above.

      Delete
    12. Actually you moron, non-human vocalizations would support Krantz's theory that Bigfoot is --- wait for it --- NON-HUMAN!!! You're the one who claims that Bigfoot is human, but somehow "evidence" that bigfoot is doing something non-human proves that Bigfoot is human?? Just go
back to bed before you humiliate yourself anymore.

    13. ... And again, there are a number of uncertainties in the readily accessible data, but not with all of it. I wonder what other primate has the ability to achieve frequencies both above and below that of normal human-primate capabilities? Please take time to ascertain the points of other people, it'll make you look less of a futile try-hard!

Krantz had very little time for anything other than tracks, the PGF and the many eyewitness reports. There are a number of researchers and enthusiasts who think the PGF is a hoax, that's just the way this field is. Everyone has opinions, but I think in this instance Krantz's opinion on the Sierra Sounds up top came four years before the analysis published by Wyoming University came about.

If I had an audio source that had subjects omitting sounds both above and below that of normal human capabilities, I'd be getting the message about as well. It shuts try-hards like you up in the end.

    14. Giganto falls in the bracket of non-human primate. Non-human primates don't make the human-like sounds on those recordings...

      It's ok, you're learning.

      Delete
    15. Oh... And there is no contradiction, merely the author of the study not considering the capabilities of what a wild human, potentially three times the size of us could achieve... For example, why couldn't very, very long vocal chords create infra sound?

I think you meant to substantiate your ideas, but your try-hard contradiction hunting makes your inferiority complex about that a little too obvious. Don't worry... You have your typo hunting and multiple accounts to fall back on yet. Which will it be?

      Delete
    16. So they are non-human "human-like" sounds that cannot possibly be duplicated by humans or non-humans? I love it -- keep it coming please!

      Delete
    17. I think I understand now -- "Bigfoot is human" according to Joerg unless there is some evidence (that he has a raging boner for) that suggests Bigfoot is doing something humans can't possibly do -- in that case, Bigfoot is not human!

      Delete
    18. I think your drivel's been addressed. You -- take -- care -- now.

    19. I'll bite...

The authors of the study did not consider Sasquatch if it exists to be human (same as most of the enthusiasts in the world), and human-primates are obviously widely considered to be unable to achieve infrasonic vocal capacities... Leading the author to label such as, "non-human".

Sasquatch is in fact a very large wild human with infrasonic vocal capabilities, probably down to very long vocal cords and chest capacity.

Gorillas, chimps, orangutans and gibbons don't make human-primate vocal sounds.

... Now, you've still got typo hunting and talking to yourself with multiple accounts left...

      Delete
    20. Um Joerg, the word "infrasonic" means that the sound is not audible to humans. We can definitely hear the sounds on the recordings, so I'm not sure what your point is other than to further demonstrate that you don't know what the hell yours talking about!

    21. Just checked in here before I go to bed and just wanted to give my two cents on the Sierra sounds study:

      1. That study if I understand correctly was done back in 1978 - wouldn't it be more convincing if it was analyzed once again by impartial professionals using the latest techniques available today?

      2. It is also my understanding that the earlier recordings were made on inexpensive recorders but a better one was brought in. Does anyone know what was used and the opinion of such by audio professionals?

      3. I read where the 1974 vocalizations seemed more humanlike than those of 1971 and 1972 and may represent an unrelated or different group of creatures moving through the area. This arouses suspicion in me as if they were manmade I would expect them to be somewhat different. If such creatures exist I would also think the sounds would be very similar if they came from the same area.

      4. I'm asking this because I don't know - are there other similar recordings of sounds that come close to what you hear on these tapes? I would have to imagine there would be many such similar recordings by now if they do exist. Having more recent tapes from that same area would build a stronger case for their authenticity. Are there such?

      Delete
    22. That's odd, I posted a long comment and it hasn't appeared...

Haints, Morehead and crew did not hear the sounds that were recorded on the tapes until played back. Try and learn something about the subject before spouting off. It gets boring teaching you about it all.

Curious... Sounds like an ad hominem there. Let me guess, the people conducting the study would have been far more impartial if they would have delivered anything but that of an enthusiastic one?
"August 1, 2012 — Lynn Kirlin grew up in Wyoming graduating from UW with BS and MS degrees in 1962 and 1963, respectively. Dr. Kirlin has had an engineering career spanning over 40 years including 33 years as a faculty member, first at the University of Wyoming and then at the University of Victoria. Over that time period, in addition to being an outstanding educator, Dr. Kirlin extensively interacted with the industry. What makes Dr. Kirlin particularly deserving of this award are his advanced technical contributions to a wide range of disciplines including seismic oil exploration, power electronic converters, array processing for sonar and radar applications, communication systems, and hearing-aid testing. He has published over 70 journal articles, 200 consultingcontract reports, 100 conference papers, and holds four patents. Software based on his patents has been used worldwide in seismic oil exploration. Dr.Kirlin was named a Fellow in the IEEE, which is the professional society of Electrical Engineers. In order to become a Fellow, one must have made momentous professional contributions which have made a significant impact on society. Less than one tenth of one percent of the IEEE professional society members become a Fellow. Of all of the Electrical Engineering Department's alums, he is the only to become an IEEE fellow. Throughout his career Dr. Kirlin held professional engineer's licenses both in Wyoming(1982-1988) and in British Columbia (1987-2002)."

    23. One of the very, very, very first things I ever read about Sasquatch years ago concerning their vocals, was their diversity. This comes from innumerable witnesses who are very experienced in the wilderness so as to differentiate from the plethora of wilderness sounds that have rational explanations. Sasquatch vocals are as diverse as any type of human. Diversity in-line with its capabilities which are vast, like you, me, someone from Africa, Japan, Italy and on and on. Try it, you can make loads of noises. The later Sierra Sounds have consistency across many, many audio recordings in the US;
      http://bigfootevidence.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/mkdavis-discusses-audio-compilation-of.html?m=0

The theory is that with more expeditions into the remote areas that the Sasquatch were recorded, and with more habituation, that the sounds took on a tone of seemingly trying to communicate more with Morehead and crew. Now in my opinion, given the profound data found in the original recordings, this gives serious credence to the latter recordings. You also have to remember that Al Berry was a sceptical journalist who set out to debunk the whole thing.

    30. Taking a few spare minutes for a reply but I just wanted to say I wasn't questioning these people's qualifications but merely saying that a modern day examination by people also very qualified in those fields might bolster their case. This study took place almost 39 years ago and I'm quite confident the audio technology used to examine such things has vastly improved. I'm sure they did the best they could back then with what they had to work with. Would love to go more into this discussion but just don't have the time right now to do so.
