Watch: Steve Irwin making friends with a mama orangutan and her baby.

Awww. Steve Irwin loved all animals. What a wonderful human being he was. R.I.P., Steve!

    1. My daughter, who was eight at the time, cried her eyes out when he died. His enthusiasm was genuine in my opinion. When I catch him on Animal Planet reruns I can't help but think how someone who was so good (and he was) with risk management got caught by such a freak accident. I hope his kids carry on his work. In relative peace and normalcy. But I'm afraid their mother put's them out in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. My two cents for what's it's worth.

  2. Steve Irwin was a self serving animal abuser who tormented animals for personal gain. I remember the first time I watched his show, I predicted he would die by a venomous snake, I was wrong, but he did reap what he had sown...

    1. I guess there are no off limit targets as far as our trolls here are concerned. So brave without a name.

    2. Irwin's own film crew explained that Irwin had "agitated" the sting ray which killed him.

    3. You are of course entitled to your opinion. But it is astonishing to me that you are unable to see that sometimes just vomiting out whatever comes to mind is not always necessary- given the circumstances. So you want a medal because the man died like you superiorly predicted? Ok here is your medal buddy! Enjoy.

    4. The only reason I watched was to see him take a snake to the face. And i don't mean a reptile.

    5. ..Its not as if he was sticking firecrackers up frogs asses, but he was a bit reckless and did not set the greatest example as to how to interact with some of these animals...

    6. I'll concede the best interaction is to stay a country mile away from a animal in it's natural habitat unless you intend to hunt it or it wonders onto your back porch. However, picking up a snake and holding in front of a camera doesn't signal the end of the species. If you want to see what a real fraud in the animal world looks like, check out Marty Stouffer. The only "man" in the world who repeatedly caught animals who would avoid each other like the plague fighting each other to the presumed death. We'll never know for sure because he would leave the ending out. He staged that shit like Vince McMahon. Irwin was a genuine lover of animals that pissed of a handful of activists who think gorillas should be given the right to vote. Fuck em! RIP Steve.

    8. ^ His life, death and legacy were/are note worthy. Yours? Not so much...

    9. Stauffer did stage alot of the interactions between animals, but his programs were meant to educate people about the complexities and delicate balances of the environment. Irwin was more about emphasizing his prowess of capturing and handling the animal.

      Delete
    10. Bullshit. His programs were meant to educate people by staging encounters between a Fox and a Bobcat? Irwin was twice the man that sack of crap ever was.

    11. Uh, Stauffer was(is) a degreed biologist, Irwin had no credentials only his brash personality and obscene treatment of animals.

      Delete
    12. Does degreed biologist equal dishonest animal abusing scumbag in just this case or all of them? To compare a jackass that staged fights between animals to a guy who built a fucking zoo in the middle of no where by will power is stupid to say the least. And you should really brush up on your definition of credentials. Dumbass.

    13. Zoo? that was no zoo gringo, it was an animal exploitation park with only profit in mind! Stauffer may have staged some things but conservation of the environment was the main goal. Type a little harder so your posting can be seen...

  3. As a zoologist, I can testify that Irwin's behavior was considered unprofessional by others in the business. The original poster has solid reasons for his opinion and I can't say that he is incorrect.

  5. Looking back at the first time I watched Steve Irwin, the way he grabbed the snakes by the tail, I half expected him to crack them like a whip and pop their heads off.
