Tennessee and Smeja Sasquatch Sketches, and the Paranthropus Hypothesis

The Tennessee alleged Sasquatch sketch,, based off of eyewitness reports

Although its not definitive or conclusive evidence, it's always exciting when a full body sketch accompanies a new Sasquatch report. Two twelve year old hunters claimed to have seen a Sasquatch while walking down a logging road in Tennessee. The animal was allegedly seven to eight feet tall with blackish brown hair (the witnesses emphasized that it was hair and not fur), huge muscles, and broad shoulders. A BFRO investigator who spoke to the witnesses said that they were mature for their age and intelligent. The animal's right jaw was apparently dropped, which allowed the witnesses to view its teeth. Sybilla Irwin worked with the witnesses to produce the sketch which is above.

I am glad that she did this, as it is rare that an artist will take the time to listen to the witnesses and produce a full body sketch. A close up of the sketched face shows a primate which has a relatively human looking and flat face, a pronounced supraorbital ridge (brow ridge), a broad nose, and non-projecting canines. Interestingly, this full body sketch may help in the question of what Sasquatch are, and the features seem to point to a robust early hominin known as Paranthropus.

  4. The skulls for those sketches would be far more human-like. Those random ape skulls don't seem to match.

  5. No sketches please. As opposed to the "I heard a loud moan and saw a large shadow.." kind of stories, the visuals(sketches) makes it hard to suspend belief.

You are confronting me with the inanity of the premise(giant ape men in the woods) and ruining the fun. I am trying to cooperate here...

    2. Not only that, the percentage of known hominids in the fossil record compared to those undiscovered is probably very small. Bigfoot is probably it's own unique species of hominid. -lepomis M.S.

    1. (Ken).. Hey there Brother Jay, proud for you man. Liked the article friend. I can tell, you've done allot of homework on the Sasquatch and his appearance. Do you really believe they might differ so much from area to area, and continent to continent? You know, many species do actually vary in their size and general appearance from weather zones here in US. I guess maybe an animal like Sasquatch, if real, could do the same, but so much major difference Jay? Do you buy some of these more amazing described changes brother?I trust your thoughts man, your info seems to be better than most my friend, plus you've been able to question the one guy I trust, that's still respected. Post these answers brother, I'll keep watching(If YOU HAVE THE TIME). thanks my friend.

    2. Hello and thanks! In my opinion, the morphological differences which are bring described are likely geographical variances. With such likely small populations, these animals will likely look quite different in different environments. However, some reports from the Northwestern region do seem to indicate a cultural hominin (although they are very rare) which I have discussed here—http://bizarrezoology.blogspot.com/2013/02/wildmen-of-northwest.html. In my opinion, it is more likely that the reported differences are just geographical variances in the same species. I do theorize, however, that hairy hominoids which have been reported on other continents may be different from the "Bigfoot" of North America. In areas such as Nepal and Northern China, it seems that there may actually be two species involved (a terrestrial orangutan and a robust bipedal ape which is likely the same species as the Sasquatch). But I don't think this scenario is likely in America, although fellow associates of mine like Dale Drinnon have theorized this.

    3. (Ken).. Thanks for the great info, and again this article. I dig those that actually have done the research before throwing out their opinions ya know brother. As one just getting started, I am interested in those that seem to make some common sense Brother Jay. I think your approach to these questions makes allot of it. I agree with your theories brother Jay, based on my knowledge of other species only. I have yet to witness the Sasquatch, but hope to some day. One more question, if you have the time my friend, Do you believe there was a universal migration of the original species during one of the major ice ages, or a slow spreading of these animals as populations grew? I refer mainly to those that belong to the animals in North and South America as well as Russia and parts of Asia where early reports linked the similar Creature.

      Delete
    4. You're welcome! Well, the Bering Strait was actually like a continuous forest at certain times of prehistory, and it likely was a relatively slow spreading into America. Footprint casts from China are extremely similar to those from California, and it seems that the fossil origin of the wood apes has also survived there.

    5. (Ken).. there again, You speak my thoughts on this matter Jay. I have always believed that the frozen land bridge is the key to so many similar creatures being so far apart. Thanks so much for the insight friend. I'll continue to watch for your articles and contributions Jay. Hope someday we'll be discussing the day he was officially pronounced. Have a great one Brother Jay.

    6. I'm afraid they're aliens certainly looks that way after all they're doing things no ape could do, like leaving only few tracks with their big flat feet. Yes it sounds far out maybe but we can't seriously keep inventing excuses for apes we can't find but think still could be there. That's delusional quite frankly and it's occupying our time with nonsense when we should be looking elsehwere and considering other far more relistic options. Skeptards forget them they're arrogant and not what the search needs.

      Delete
    7. Ken, it wasn't frozen though which is the interesting thing! It was a continuous forest, which would certainly allow a large bipedal ape to cross.

I thought a Bigfoot/ Skunk Ape was a large Ape like creature. Looking at the great apes...they all walk on all 4 more than they do on 2 legs.
