Dr. Sykes Bigfoot DNA Update: Publication is a slow process

This isn't much of an update, but we'll take what we can get from Dr. Bryan Sykes about his Bigfoot DNA study. Team Tazer group member, Bobbie Kean got this litlte update from Dr. Sykes earlier this morning:

Dear Bobbie,

No news yet. I am still working through the samples. Publication is a slow process, especially in prominent journals, so I wouldn't hold your breath. Journals normally embargo articles until the pub date.

Regards

Bryan

    1. this guy is legit. ketchum is not. that doesnt even require explaining. its clear.

    2. Oh, why is he more legit because he's in the right circles and has a known name?

      Delete
    3. Maybe because he doesn't have a publicist using "Forestpeople" as her surname? Or perhaps because he doesn't issue press releases about his research prior to peer review acceptance? Or could it be because he hasn't made failed promise after promise about the release of findings?

    9. Jesus. This is exactly what I said on the other thread. LISTEN TO SYKES, you idiots, and he'll explain very clearly why Ketchum has faced so many delays. But no... They must be her fault. She's a woman. He's not. Double standard bullshit.

    13. Sykes faces the same problem Ketchum does - no paper about bigfoot will ever be published in this country, period. It's the topic holding them back, not (necessarily) the science. No one will be allowed to rock the boat in the manner these people are attempting to.

    14. Ha-Ha. I knew it, you fools show how double minded and two faced you really are. You have no principles other than to attack Ketchum. If she were to say the same thing, you mental midgets were to lynch her yet you blindly snort about how Sykes is this or that. Listen GED'ers, science is science, sound technique is sound technique, accepted procedures are accepted procedures.
Sorry but you have been REVEALED!!

Finally, you fell into the trap set by this site to show you as the two faced stand for nothings that you really are.

    2. Yes but the chances he will be accepted by a prominent journal, given that he is a recognized world expert, are inherently significantly higher than for a veterinarian in Texas. She can have the most pristine research ever, but her reputation - and lack of reputation in the genetics academic community - precede her. At the very least it's politics. She could not afford a single slip up. But she has made some suspect personal decisions that have cost her. It's unfortunate for everyone really. The price paid for burning bridges.

    5. Her publicist is named "Forestpeople" lolololol. The only red flag you need. Have some respect for yourselves. The academic process does take some time, but unless you haven't been paying attention, the numerous red flags raised by Ketchum have been more than enough to de-legitimize her supposed "study."

    9. Anon 3:38 - Excellent response. You seen'em?

      Delete
    10. Fucking Forestpeople. How Ketchum allowed that to happen shows how crazy she is. When purporting extraordinary findings, it would be a good idea to use a publicist, any publicist, that used a normal name.

      Delete
    11. Let's see if he is any closer in five years. I'm going to go on record and say we will still have no scientific bigfoot study papers published at that time. Or in ten years. Or twenty...

      Delete
    12. Please explain what a persons name or internet name has anything to do with a study of genetics? Oh I get it. If a fat guy does researcha and a muscular handsome guys does the exact same research then the fat guy is a liar. Or, if someone named Delbert puts their name on the paper and someone else named John puts his name on the exact same paper then Delberts is discarded because of his funny name. Wow, sounds like really precise procedures there!

      Delete
    13. Her science could be great, but it shows how clueless she is that she would select a publicist using that name. But she's not doing herself any favors. Not that it necessarily means her science is junk, but an objective observer would see that as a red flag.

      Delete
    14. I don't get the whole no paper will be published crap, why? Oh that's right because the world will be thrown into anarchy if people find out Bigfoot exists! What a load of crapola! Sykes could easily get it published in the UK anyway

      1. I called Anon 1:06 a man cause I fucking felt like it, and I don't fucking care if Anon 1:06 is a man or not. Anon 1:06 could be a gremlin for all I fucking care, it doesn't make them any less retarded.

      2. Did you seriously just tell a skeptic to pay attention because sasquatch isn't an ape. Damn right it's not an ape, because it isn't real. The terms “magic ape”, “magic monkey”, “the magic monkey man”, “the mythical ape”, “and “the mythic monkey” are all used my the skeptics here to refer to the absurdity of sasquatch.

Next time you should “pay attention” you chicken fucking dumb ass.

    9. Is this really someone who has whole heartedly accepted Ketchum's findings from an unseen paper calling a sceptic an idiot for taking unproven comments made by Ketchum as gospel truth? Am I the only one who thinks that's funny? The Ketchum paper could be a load of crap but because it's confirming some idea you have of Bigfoot you believe in it with that blind faith you have, no proof at all but it must be true?! Whereas Ketchum's call for Sasquatch constitutional rights was obviously the work of a totally sane individual and her "forestpeople" publicist seems to be just slightly nuts. Maybe for once the sceptics have it right and she is crazy there has to be a reason why her paper didn't get accepted, someone in comments the other day claimed it was Ketchum's conclusions not her science were at fault maybe Squatch isn't this hominid that you think he is?

    11. Hey anon 3:43 read and reread anon 2:59 post ! Never I repeat never accepted anything on the study, I wait until things are released rather than taking idiots opinions and trying to twist shit into truths then hammering people about it. If someone is stupid enough to believe Angel DNA at face value Like anon 12:45 then your a complete moron ( who by the way is a fuctard)!

      Delete
    12. The problem is when the story broke about the "Angel DNA" both sides took it at face value, the skeptics and the creationalists! Hell when someone issues press releases like she has do you really think they have something valid to say? Weren't there a few different explanations for the whole "Angel DNA" thing anyway? I remember there was the one that said it was used as a term to explain the unknown DNA and had been used in genetics for a long time? Something I can't find verification for neither can I find verification of her doing any forensics work or actually working on the 9 11 identifications. You're right to not accept anything from the study before it's published and some of the things said about Melba will be crap but judging by her actions and strange press releases, 5 years of telling people it will be released soon, people who have submitted samples not having faith in her and having other labs test evidence it says something right?

    13. Anonymous 2:04 etc etc etc, you're clever but it's too bad you're nasty. You being nasty and vulgar only invites others to treat you in kind.

No doubt you're hired to post by whatever boss, because of your clever comebacks and miraculous magic monkey fits. No one, unless earning a per-post fee, would spend time here, everyone knows that. You could not support yourself by spending so much time here, without being paid for it. You claimed yesterday or the day before you comment here because it "= fun". That's doubtful.

Do you or your bosses hope to sway opinion and convince anyone of your views? Or is this only a social experiment to collect data for a study?

There's a YT user who posts such things as "I'm glad he got cancer," "I'm glad she died," etc. If the poster is not a psychopath, it's surely a social experiment to collect responses to such comments for a study. Why else?

If you are trying to sway opinion, you can tell your employer you won't have much effect on skeptical believers. Every day you try to prove a negative and it's a Sisyphean task. You'll never prove a negative. Your attempts are just as fruitless as those of the researchers whom you try to deride every day from your keyboard.

You've taken on an impossible endeavor.

You have comment after comment after comment on this one post. I think you can only preach to the choir. Others who already agree with you will feel comradeship with your comments. Those on the fence will probably be turned off by your vulgarity, and so those whom you had hoped to convice will likely slip through your fingers.

Being obscene will surely cause you to lose potential converts. Using your cleverness in a good-natured way, which is friendly to believers, even though you disagree, I think would be more successful for you. If you want to have fun, why not make it fun for your opponents in a good-natured way?

No doubt your reply will contain "I don't give a *%^$ about converts and I'm not trying to convert anyone," etc, but I don't care.

You'll have read this, that was the plan.

      Delete
    14. Not all the sceptical comments on this post are by the same guy maybe there are people who just don't accept Ketchum's study or the way that people have jumped on to it with a religious zeal when they've not even seen it. People used to embrace rational thinking unfortunately now the "in things" seem to be blind faith and making large bold statements with nothing factual to back it up and then when people say "well that's not true" or "there's no evidence for that" then people make up excuses or dish out the insults. It's the same on both sides.

The thing bout this site is it's supposed to be about debating the news on Bigfoot right? So to be a debate then it requires at least two different opinions so to be upset with someone who comes on here and talks about "magic monkeys" is a little silly as that is one side of the debate, the full on sceptic so shouldn't they be allowed their opinion as much as yours or poop in a jar guy? If one third of the US population believes in Sasquatch then two thirds obviously don't so shouldn't they be allowed to come on here and say so? If anything the ones preaching to a choir on here are the believers right? I don't think anyone's been paid per post to knock Bigfoot, there is no Bigfoot or Dr. Ketchum conspiracy that I'm aware of. Maybe anon 2:04 might know differently who knows but I doubt it because despite what a lot of conspiracy theorists have posted I don't think the existence of Squatch is truly earth shattering news to religion or evolutionists. If it is proved right society won't collapse or anything they just got "wow, crazy huh? Wonder about Loch Ness now" then get on with their lives.

Like I said I'm not anon 2.04, I agree with him and wrote anon 3:43 and 4:45 and this too. It maybe be hard to prove a negative or impossible but if two thirds of the population belive in that negative isn't it you one third that has to convince them of a positive? Don't think Ketchum will do that, sorry guys.

    1. back in 2001 Sykes examined "yeti hair" from Bhutan. The UK TV show, which organised the expedition to Bhutan, cited Sykes after DNA examination that the DNA " is unknown and could be of a yet unknown primate", something he "has never seen before". He announced that they had to do a second test of the DNA material. One year after the show I contacted his institute and asked about the results. They told me it was hair by a Himalayan black bear!!!!!! Perhaps this is the beginning of a new conspiracy theory. If not, and it was indeed hair from a black bear, I wonder how they could not get such an obvious result during their first test phase??!! Instead they told all the world that this DNA was "unique". So much about Sykes. My hopes with him are not higher than with Ketchum, to be honest!!!

      Delete
    2. It would have been the tv show that suggested that he might need to re-test the bear hair it makes for better tv espically on ITV. " Yeah so professor Sykes this bear hair we collected could you just say you don't know what it is? It's not really misleading people that much just if there's that bit of mystery there then it makes better tv, you know keep people on tender hooks about the big hairy fella, yeah?" That will be why they were ok bout telling you it was a bear later on, of course if it was the BBC that would be different as they would just deny everything about it till it died and then fail to report it was a child molester.

    1. Unfortunately, I agree. Ketchum could have amazing findings, but by posting pictures of stick structures, braided horse hair, and saying she knows of a property where there are a family of BF, she shot herself in the foot. I just cant believe that people have already made up their minds about her study. Everyone forgets that she posted shit only because Lindsay would spread rumours, and being the BF world, everyone selectively hears/reads the most insane nonsense that gets 'leaked'. If she didnt respond, people would be saying anything Lindsay says is right.

Given, she should have just kept her mouth shut from the getgo, but I can see why she felt she needed to post shit earlier. It was essentially a lose-lose for her from the very begininng.

Lies and misinforming the public, the very same thing any out of the box thinking scene is accused of.

    3. More honest? Seriously, have you not read the multiple accounts of lies she has told to people's faces about the release of her paper? Have you not read the multiple accounts of scientists that have said this situation has raised lots of red flags? 12. Hey you used the highway project metaphor! All I saying is this has been delayed over and over and the reasons given like the last press release are just a little unbelievable and when people like Curtino and Smejia who sent in samples say they think Ketchum is full of bs and that they're doing their own tests it sounds like warning bells ringing. Sometimes things are just late and sometimes things never arrive, think Ketchum's study will be the latter.

    3. Why do people keep posting with fucking caps lock on? Is it because they are worried that some one might miss their pearls of great wisdom like the poster above?

    4. If you shoot many then I guess that solves that,if we believe Smeja then the fuckers aren't bulletproof

    5. Why didn't it use it's telepathic powers to communicate with Justin ? Couldn't it say " don't shoot" if they are as clever as people make out?

    7. You'll have to wait for the ad break on the next Finding Bigfoot to learn more! Did you know pepper spray doesn't work on Bigfoot? I like all these FACTS about Bigfoot like all the FACTS about ghosts you learn on Ghost Adventures or Ghost Hunters. Are there any Colleges doing courses in paranormal pseudo science yet?

    8. No but we can get a doctorate in gun repair

    1. That's right, Sykes only has hair, while Melba has tested blueberry bagels, horse manes, bigfoot steaks, and residue on her toilet seat -- that should be much more conclusive.

    2. Oh she's got some excellent footage as well. I'm sure that's gonna be convincing. If it's anything like the bullshit photo of a sleeping bear from the Erikson project, it'll be top 10 evidence for the bleevers.

    5. Hey, didn't you guys hear? Sykes study has been leaked. Bigfoots are hairy giant negroids. Shaq Oneal has been tested. Determined to be a direct lineage who has mange. Oh yes, according to the leak they like to braid their pubic hairs. Spread the word. Lets drive the bleevers crazy.

  13. Yawn! Some sensible comments by people who do know what good science is about. As for the rest, it's terribly important not to let facts get in the way of a brainless, ignorant comment, hey! Trolls really need to go back to watching their TV cartoons and soapies. At least they cater for a mental age of 12. This real science stuff is just too much of a strain on their limited facilities, if indeed they can drag themselves away from the infantile fascination they have with their own bodily functions.

    3. Yup 2:26 we figured that much now.

    4. Do you also realise that the video has nothing to do with Team Tazer and that it's just from NBC news? It's a talk with Sykes no Team Tazer anything maybe you should just watch it before assuming things?

    5. The vid was posted sometime back and I was replying to anon 2:16's comment about seeing "Team Tazer" in the intro and not directly about the vid in this post.

    3. You're either joking or delusional. Sykes will have the same problems Ketchum has had. Powerful groups will never allow the sasquatch to be "proven." Period.

    4. You are a paranoid delusional conspiracy theorist. Period

  16. Smeja still has part of the "steak", if Sykes did most likely obtain some of it. This is information that we will not know when or if, the way a proper study should be.

    1. Smeja has a lab doing tests on the 'steak' he has in his possession. Things may not be as straight forward as Ketchum vs Sykes....
