Dr. Jeff Meldrum Says Sykes Study Has Yet To Test DNA Samples
On Tuesday, Robert Lindsay reported that someone close to Dr. Ketchum's camp had leaked information about the DNA data suggesting that both Sykes and Ketchum had concluded that there is a "new hominid in North America". What's problematic about Lindsay’s report is that Sykes recently told Meldrum over the phone that the testing of the samples hasn't even started yet! Meldrum caught wind of Linday's article and posted the following response on his Facebook page:
Well, I was on the phone with Bryan just a couple of days ago and he had not yet begun testing. When he does, he intends to do the initial screening with mtDNA loci. So the alleged leak story is vacuous.

I was not dumping on Robert -- in fact we had a very civil phone conversation just the other day. I was merely adding apiece of information from my experience with the situation. Vacuous was intended to imply hollow, without substance -- not mindless! People are already jumping the gun in drawing conclusions from Melba's as yet unpublished data. We don't need run away rumor appearing to lend support when there is none-- yet.

@7:06 - the samples submitted are not evidence of Bigfoot's existence merely because they were submitted. If they are uncontaminated, tested in accordance with proper protocols, and discovered to be from an unknown primate species, that would be evidence.

DeleteJust for the record: Lindsay corrected his statement on the Sykes project in his latest BF news. I am not sure if this was before or after Meldrum published his fb message. However, although 90 per cent of Lindsay`s news just might be rumours (or lies? or misinformation?), I am sure good old Roberto has some good contacts in the scene - I would not be surprised if he eventually will be right about most he published on the Ketchum study and even the Dyer/British TV team`s filming (and killing?) of a bigfoot.

ReplyDeleteI have all the respect in the world for Dr. Meldrum as a scholar and sasquatch researcher, but the Falcon Project will not get off the ground. Dr. Ketchum, as has been stated time and again, proves in her paper that sasquatch cannot be monitored from the air because it will simply use emit a psychokinetic energy burst to disable the craft. My best estimates is that the sasquatch can probably mentally "pulse" down the airship from about 200 yards.
As for the DNA studies themselves, I do not believe in Smeja's story. There is too much evidence that implies that a sasquatch cannot be taken down with bullets as it would use its mind powers to stop the bullets in their tracks before the sasquatch was hit. However, if this were to happen, there is the possibility of collecting DNA from the ectoplasmic residue on the bullets. This might be a more promising avenue for future research.

I check all the BF sites often but don't see the point in commenting on things that are just speculation or rumor. Robert Lindsay is not an insider. He is a self indulgent promoter of speculation on this topic. I'm new here but just wonder how many folks that comment on these BF sites actually get in the woods or know much about the outdoors, wildlife, etc. No one should waste their time or thoughts on anything Lindsay says. Until something real happens then nothing has happened. Just sayin'.

DeleteI agree Asquatcholypse that RL is not an insider and his blog seems to indicate that your accusation is correct in that he is a "self indulgent promotor" but, many bloggers are. The one consistent thing I have to give RL credit for is that he generally has good information when it comes to the Bigfoot scene over the past two years. He will leak information, people will lie, deny, justify and make counter accusations. Usually two or three months later an article, etc. will come out basically claiming what RL had leaked months prior. On rare occasions he is wrong. I must admit that the info. released by RL and then "re-released" later is simply news or accounts/videos that can't be substantiated. Considering that most news can't be confirmed except by eye witness testimony and a video recording makes RL a pretty good source though.

I scoffed at the idea of bigfoot, sasquatch, etc until July 23rd 2009. I had an up close several minute encounter with one of these creatures. Since then I have been hooked. I know longer am concerned with the thought of one of these things being "real." I know they are. Prior to my encounter I didn't care nor did I believe. Made no sense to me (life time hunter/outdoorsman.)
Now I firmly expect for a capture, DNA test, whatever to be released any time. If not, it doesn't change my mind in the least.
