Phil Breaks Down The Myakka Skunk Ape Video From 2008

The Myakka Skunk Ape video has been around since May 2008. It was uploaded by Youtube user, skunkape925, a film student in Florida. Facebook Find Bigfoot considers it to be one of the top 10 Bigfoot videos of all time. As with many alleged Bigfoot video evidence, not everybody agrees on the authenticity of the footage. The Finding Bigfoot show had reportedly "passed" on the video during the filming of season one due to numerous "red flags". In the following breakdown video, Phil Poling reveals the problems associated with the purported Skunk ape footage:

  1. for god sake if it's real the reason for it's lingering is because it has an offspring with it. It was clearly trying to lead the humans away from the young one. If they faked it why did they bother with the second small subject and make it almost impossible to see. Open your damned eyes people, there is more going on here.

    1. You are really not going to be able to see it with this version very well. Look up the FB/FB stabilized one. It is the first thing you see come out into the open on the first clip. It is on the far side of the adult and it is holding on to the right hand of the big one. That is why only the left arm comes up to clear the branches away. It gets ahead of the adult, is pulled back and spun back around back into cover and is not seen again. There is a close up at the end of the video where the narrator incorrectly identifies as it's leg and foot. Because the little ones arms are extended upwards, you can't see the head but the chest waist and legs are clearly visible. Just continue watching that segment until what is happening clicks.

  2. I totally agree with Phil on this one, always thought it was fake, whether the two young men were in on it we will never surely know, but by Phil's assessment of the video im assuming they were in on it. Ive always wondered why we didn't get a clear view of the creature when it got to that clearing now i see why, they edited that part out. Great job Phil, keep up the great work.

  4. Good breakdown. Some things look way too good to be true. Behavior being totally weird as Phil said is one thing. Could happen. Maybe just freaking out cause people near by. Not likely. When no sound and conflicting story's emerge,,,even if it is real deal most serious researchers wouldn't give it another thought. Very sketchy. Good job Phil!!

  5. Finally, an intelligent analysis of the video. Phil has more brainpower than the fbfb clowns combined.

    1. FB/FB always ignores the issues that Phil addresses here, probably willfully so, and focus only on the subjects looking for "confirmation points". FB/FB is laughing up their collective sleeve or they are a very naive bunch.

  7. I really wish the anons would pick a name and use it not because I have anything against them but it would make it a lot easier to get to know the opinions of the ones who post here.It would help to rid the site of trolls also.

  8. Nice Job Phil!!! Good comments too before all the troll anons come in.

  9. The problem with the Myaka footage was always the lack of sound and continuity unfotunately, even if it had been genuine those two problems would have consigned it to the hoax bin anyway.

  10. Great job. Very educational. In 2008 people were no longer using film if I remember correctly

  11. I have a very wrinkly pinky, that i like to rub against my dinky.

  12. to me it's fake. I see the figure when it turns around having very square unnatural shoulders and it looks like the head is just stuck on the square shoulders.

  13. Very good break down Phil. I concur with your assessment and have always had issue with the straight,un-natural shoulders as well. In the final "scene" when it turns away form the camera it is very stiff in its movements.
    Can it !

  14. When I first saw this clip a few years ago, the first thing that I questioned was the start and stopping of the footage (editing). If you are filming a skunk ape, why would you start and stop and start and stop the camera? You wouldn't.

Also, the shoulders on the creature seem too rigid to be real shoulders. They look like shoulder pads.

  15. Skunk ape, my ass. Really, that was my ass. I was in Florida recently.

  16. That video looks very real to me. The arms and hand that hang look very powerful to me.

I had a fried that had arms like that; very much unassuming and his strength was amazing. When he got into fights he wouldn't even try hard and people would start spitting blood, not from their mouth but their core.

This animals features and limbs - strike me very much like my old friend; unassuming but with tremendous power.

I'll take a look again and see if I can make myself believe that it's fake. I give it a good and honest attempt.

  17. Phil's analysis sucks. He's possibly the worst egomaniac in Bigfootery.

    1. Are you the best egomaniac in Bigfootery?

Nothing like team work. All the Footers working together on a common goal. Not.

At least Phil is attempting to use logic to explain things. I imagine your reason for the lack of continuity is that it disappeared into an inter-dimensional portal then popped out the other side of the clearing. It's all Magic!!! 3rd graders know more science than Footers.

  18. i remember seeing this video for the first time and i always had a weird feeling in my gut about how slow and clumsily this moves. The tree peek always weirded me out because there is no tree that this thing is peeking from its just doing some weird fast movement. All the other videos and reports ive read/seen squatches just get up and roll out than circle back wide undercover to observe. not to mention how in the world do you come upon a huge squatch whos just sitting there? was he just having a little cat nap? if they were that stupid we would know of them by now

  19. It's real.

I tried very hard to discount it again. But I could not do so.

The behaviors remind me of a BF sighting from Texas where a hunter witnessed a BF hope from Tree base to Tree base; to get close to a pig or hog.

    Then it attacked it.

You may not hear that story often or never for the PAC NW but I can see that behavior being very optimal to catching game.
